Jen & Rob's Not-So-Scary Deluxe Dining Report UPDATE 10/23 - Breakfast at 'Ohana

The sushi at the CG is among some of the best I have ever tasted in my life! That spicey kazan roll is perfection on a plate :worship:

The sushi at the CG is among some of the best I have ever tasted in my life! That spicey kazan roll is perfection on a plate :worship:

It truly is! We're supposed to be going out for sushi tonight, and while I love the sushi at our local restaurant...nothing touches the perfection of that roll!

Okay. I don't think there are many more changes we can possibly make since we leave in less than 17 hours...who am I kidding, we can always make more changes...

Yesterday afternoon, the fates led Rob to check to see if there was another opening at 'Ohana - you know, one which wouldn't involve us sitting down to eat dinner at 9:35. And wouldn't you know it...! So now we're going to 'Ohana at 8:00 Monday night, and to Yachtsman on Thursday.

I'd been praying that the credit card policy would result in cancellations as the date grew closer, and it did! Score!

So we'll be gorging...er, feasting...at 'Ohana on Monday night and likely heading to DHS for EMH in order to walk some of it off. :)

I'm looking forward to this way too much. I'm looking forward to eating just about everything way too much. But that's how I roll.

:cool1: WooHoo!!!...Tomorrow is your big day!!! :cool1:

pixiedust: HAVE A GREAT TRIP MRS. B and GUITAROB!!! pixiedust:

I'm coming in late to the Pre-Dining Report but I will definitely be following along when you come back!! You have some EXCELLENT meals planned!

I'm in! Great start! Ur blackberry champagne @ AP looks beautiful & delsh!!! I'm a huge fan of the bubbly. I drink it in a beer glass @ times.:rotfl: That is something I consider a very nice treat!

Hi everyone!

Well we've been back for well over a week and I feel that I can finally revisit the memories.

You know how sometimes it just kinda sucks to look back on the trip because you're too busy being sad that it's over? Yeah. That was me.

But now we've booked a new trip for December so it's all good. :cool1: We'll be back in the Poly's loving arms in just 10 weeks! Now I can reflect happily, knowing that a Christmas trip to the World is ahead of us.:santa:

Anyway, let's talk about the food we ate on this last trip. Oh boy. Did we eat. I think my poor stomach just cringed at the thought.

Plans changed...AGAIN!...during the trip, so I'll change the first entry to reflect that, and include links to each meal as I go along.

Monday morning, September 17th. The day we'd been impatiently waiting for! After a wonderful flight, a quick ride on the fake monorail and an uneventful car ride from the airport which always seems to last for-ev-er, we arrived at the Poly.

Home. :cloud9:

We went through a quick check-in in Hawaii, where the very helpful CM let us know that there would be breakfast food available in the lounge for the next few minutes and that we could catch it if we hurried.

We merely smiled and thanked him, and informed him that we were headed to Kona for some tonga toast. I mean, honestly, the breakfast in the lounge is delicious and all...but let's be serious. There's just no comparison. Frankly, I'm surprised I managed to sit still throughout the check-in process.

Soon we headed for Kona. I may have run but I'm not sure. ;)

We started off with lilikoi juice mimosas. The CM seemed surprised at this notion - I guess she'd never heard of it. I hope she spreads the news far and wide, because the world needs to know how delicious this is. I mean, a regular mimosa is yummy but with lilikoi juice? Forget about it.

As you can see, we also drank regular lilikoi juice. Because there wasn't enough sugar happening on that table.

But hey, it's vacation...and lilikoi juice is the nectar of the gods, after all. Also, it matched Rob's shirt, which I just noticed. ;)

Speaking of sugar...get ready. Because this...

...was the most perfect piece of tonga toast ever known to man. Like 100% spot-on. Marvelously crisp on the outside, and buttery banana perfection on the inside. I'm pretty well convinced that they secretly butter the inside of the bread - it's the only thing I can come up with that would result in the buttery taste I catch from bite to bite. Pure heaven.

And the sausage was perfectly cooked as well. There have been times when I wasn't too thrilled with the degree of pink I saw inside, but this was excellent.

Rob had tonga toast as well, but with bacon. He was impressed with the bacon - it wasn't as "Disney bacon" as it normally is.

I've already used the word "perfect" many times throughout this meal's description, but I have to use it again. It was truly the best opening meal I could imagine. I poured strawberry compote over that thick piece of sugary fried bread, took one bite, closed my eyes and said, "I am so happy right now". And I was.

This is what bliss looks like, folks.

And in case you were wondering, it just gets better from here.

And thanks so much for reading!

Ok - I just got all caught up by reading your PDR and I'm excited that you've started your reviews with Kona. I ♥ that place. Seriously. I didn't get it during our last trip and I'm bummed about that but I refuse to miss it next time!

I'm in for the rest of your reviews! Can't wait!
