Organising Paris daytrips from DLP

As our next trip is booked over a weekend, we're considering tagging a few more days on the following week and using Saturday and maybe Sunday to visit Paris, because we all get grumpy when the park is full.
We want to see the main tourist sites and visit the Catacombs.

Need help and advice deperately, was intially thinking of booking the Paris Essentials tour to see the sites as it seemed like the easiest option and they guarantee you'll see all the main ones albeit from a coach with a couple of free hours and more importantly collects and drops off at the NPB.

My quick look at a map though suggests that we might have to do the catacombs seperately and have to negotiate the rail network to get to them :scared:

So now I am thinking if we have to do that for the catacombs, might we do it as well for our sight seeing day.

Any help, advice, experience, tourist plan very much appreciated. :goodvibes

The Catacombes are down at Denfert Rochereau so either Metro Line 4 or RER B - depends on where you are coming from really.

What else would you like to see as I can do up a "route" for you if you like :goodvibes

Carrie you are a star who always comes to the rescue :flower3:

I will speak to the family and let you know what's on our to do list.
Is it reasonable to do the catacombs and tour the sites in 1 day or would we better touring the sites one day and leaving the catacombs for another ?

I would much rather walk around than take trains metro etc, whenever possible, found that in London although the Underground is easy and gets you around quickly, you miss a lot, this way.

Last month my friend did the sites and the catacombs in one day! I stayed at DLP though so that's all I can tell you! :rotfl:

I beg you please don't do a top sights bus tour. Paris is such a beautiful city and the best thing to do to see that beauty is just walk. If you have limited time my top would be Sainte-Chapelle & Notre Dame which can be done together because they are on the Isle de la Cite, go to the back of Notre Dame, cross the bridge onto Ile St Loius and turn left for nice views then take Pont Lois Philippe across the Seine and walk past the Hotel De Ville to the Palais Royal then through the Tuileries. You can admire the Petit Palais & the Grand Palais and end up at the Eiffel Tower. All this includes a lot of walking so you could use the metro to rest your legs. If you visit the Eiffel tower at dusk you will avoid the worst of the crowds and get to see the city light up as night falls, truly magical. You could also take a boat cruise along the Seine which will afford you great views and more ambience than a bus. We are leaving soon for five days at Disney then a full week in Paris and it just can't come quick enough. I love Paris one of my favourite cities in the world.Hope you have a great trip.:)
