Those of you who go to Disney end of November, help with weather/clothing, please!

We will be at Disney from Sunday, 11-18 to Saturday, 12-1. I know I need to be prepared for warm days and cool days, as I've read some days it may be warm enough to swim and others we'll need sweatshirts. But, most of the time, is there a certain way you plan to dress? I don't want to pack two separate wardrobes (1 summer/1 winter) if I don't absolutely have to!!!! For most days, I have a Disney outfit for DD who loves to do Disney customs and a matching T-shirt for DS. I can layer long sleeve T's under each kiddos' outfit, but should I plan on jeans or shorts mostly for DS? And for DH and I, would jeans be okay most days?

Our last trip was October 2010. Except for 1-2 days, we wore jeans most days. Should the weather be similar? From what I've read, seems like it will be a little cooler than that was....unless, of course, there's some odd weather, which here (KY) it's been a VERY hot summer and now a HOT fall!

What's your thoughts? Because DS is 13 months now and babies grow so fast at that age, I'm not sure I'll have very many shorts for him and that's what I'm panicking about! :)

I would plan for temperatures that could range from 35 F in the mornings to 80 F in the afternoons--unlikely to go outside those bounds. More typical temps will probably be 45 F to 70 F.

I am going at the same time with a 23 month old. I plan to bring lots of regular pants (the ones that we can wear at home when the temps are moderate), t-shirts, a sweatshirt, a coat, and 2-3 pairs of shorts. I picked up shorts at our local Once Upon a Child for $1 per pair. We may not need them, but it will be nice to have. While I completely understand not wanting to pack two full wardrobes, many kids items can be used for all sorts of temperatures.

I anticipate dressing DS in layers in the morning and peeling them off as it gets warmer. Since kids clothes take up so little space, this won't be too hard.

I have been in October, November and 2 times in December, and now we live in Florida. The first December it was mid 80's for highs (90's on our last day), and 70's in the evenings. The second December it was 30's and 40's for the HIGHS, only had one day that got "warm" (70) all week, it was RECORD cold that year. Last year it was colder in October than in November (we needed hoodies and jeans last October, but were in shorts and tees in November and in the pool on Christmas). My point here, sadly, is yes you could have temps ranging from 30-90 in November, though pp that said up to 80 normally is correct. I think the October and November weather is basically the same.

Being from the south, and also someone that plans to be at Disney around the same dates you are this is my take -

It's a very unpredictable season. It can be hot, cold, or in between. Doesn't help much, does it? :confused3 Seriously, I've been *in it all*. More than likely it will be pleasant to hot. I would definitely bring light jackets, and if you don't bring shorts, long pants will not be that hot.

We're just bringing summer attire, with light jackets. Each year is different, but it's not unusual to be hot christmas day.

Have a pixiedust: trip!

Plan for the worst, hope for the best. This is the toughest time of year to pack for. You really need to bring it all. Check the forecast right before leaving, but even that is half guess.

Bottom line, you'll probably have warm afternoons and cool mornings and evenings. You'll probably be OK with shorts and T's, but with a light jacket along.

BUT....... and here's the big deal......... unless you want to mortgage the house in the event that you are there for a cold snap........ bring hats gloves and coats. It's not out of the realm of possibility that you could need them. And Disney isn't known for their bargain prices. We have gone in early December 4 times and needed these things only once. But man did we need them that year.

In my opinion, you absolutely have to. We've been around that time of the year the last 4 years and you never know what you are going to get. Not only that, but it can change FAST, and the forecast you see when you are packing the day before you leave may completely change the day after you get to WDW and it might throw all your packing out the window if you aren't prepared for anything. We made that mistake our first year. Our first day, the forecast was right, but after that there was an unexpected heat wave it it went from a forecast of 70-72 all week, to a forecast of between 82-85 for the rest of the week. That is a huge change and we weren't prepared, as we figured at 70 we would be fine in jeans all week. We should have been in shorts all week. Aside from that first year, the past 3 years we have spent part of the week in shorts day and night and part in sweaters with jackets/coats over them day and night. We have definitely needed both ends of the spectrum each trip. It can be 80 for a high one day, and then 57 for a high the next.

November is my favorite time of the year to go! I would check the weather before you leave of course.. But I wouldn't go over board on shorts and tanks maybe bring just a couple just incase but usually when I go I can get away with capris and short sleeved shirts for the day but definitely bring a sweatshirt for at night it gets a little chilly and you may want it some mornings as well

We will be there at the same time as you! I think I already told you that, lol.

We will leave in the morning for rope drop wearing jeans, t-shirt, hoodie, tennis shoes and gloves or hat if needed. peel down from there as the day goes on, putting extra clothes in a backpack (possibly smooshed into zip lock bags), then we will have them for the evening cool off. I plan for it to be dark around 5:45 that time of year, with 1:00 being the warmest point of the day. If predictions are for really hot weather, I may even layer a tank top so I can soak up a few rays! I tend to roll my jeans into capris at WDW a lot.

We have had a November trip (2005,week after TGiving) where we started out in shorts and by the end of our trip we were in jeans and gloves at night. We also went in Dec 2006 (week before Christmas) and never came out of shorts and t's...even at late night EMH. Its a crazy time and you just have to check the weather right before you go and plan accordingly.

I've gone the first week of December many times. I've seen highs between 48 and 85. If it's below 70 during the day, plan for it to get cold after dark. You really have to wait until right before you go to make the final packing decisions based on the forecast. I've taken my winter coat on some trips and was glad to have it for cold nights when you are outside for things like Candlelight Processional. Other trips I just needed a light jacket.

Went several years ago during Thanksgiving and we wore jeans and jackets the whole time. Went last Thanksgiving and we wore shorts the whole time. Highs were in the mid 80'. We sometimes needed light jackets in the late evenings. As PP suggested, the only thing you can do is check the forecast right before you leave. This might rule out some of the options (like heavy coats.) But, you will probably still have to pack a for warm and cool.

Shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts/hoodies/windbreakers, jeans, cargo pants, zip off pants. All depends on if a cold front is coming through.

My family is partial to shorts, t-shirts with sweatshirts/hoodies/windbreakers.

Make sure you pack a swimsuit.

But, most of the time, is there a certain way you plan to dress?

Yes, we always bring clothes for both occasions and most importantly, dress in layers. jeans can be worn for more than a day in that weather because there isn't much sweating going on. Bring a few light jackets/fleeces/sweaters. Pair your jeans with a short sleeved shirt under a long sleeved shirt or jacket and remove throughout the day as it warms, then re-add later in the day as it cools.

Bring gloves and hats and have a bag to put the clothes you remove throughout the day.

OR

plan on going back for wardrobe changes in the middle of the day, be cold at times, or be hot at times. The best way to comfortably dress for the day and not plan on heading back to the room is to dress and pack in layers.

(look at my picture below, this was taken last November on a beautiful day. Under than jacket I am wearing a a 3-button collared shirt and under than I have a short sleeved under shirt. Shortly after this picture I removed everything but the collared shirt until later than evening.)

Obviously it can change since our November trip last year (the week before you would be going) was a lot warmer than the previous trip. It can be chilly in the morning but I didn't take a sweatshirt or jacket (my DH did some days) since its a pain carrying around and warms up by mid morning.

We both wear shorts & t's. At night it can get chilly, one night in Epcot the year before it was freezing (and I'm usually not cold).

If you are out the entire day, I would bring a sweatshirt and either carry it around, stuff it in a backpack or get a locker. We come back in the mid-afternoon and usually don't go back to a park but when we do I just judge the weather report temps & how I feel when I step out of the room.

I would look at the weather reports before you go to know if you would be comfortable with wearing jeans or shorts & definitely pack a sweatshirt or light jacket.

Keep in mind the difference in how the weather will feel based on where you are and what you are doing.

For example - 55 degress in the sun, walking around probably feels more like 65-70 degrees as walking will increase your core temperature. 55 degrees at night, sitting on cold bleachers waiting for Fantasmic probably feels like 50 degrees.

We've been that time of year, and I agree weather cna be quite unpredictable.

That said, I don't pack to complete total wardrbes. I prep 3/4 of two total wardrobe possibilities.

Last minute, I look at weather reports and modify by swapping a few items: jeans for shorts, maybe swap in/out a jacket. You should bring at least one pari of long pants, and one summer outfit no matter what. I like items like long shorts/lightweight long pants, layering options. You can also bring things like extra socks. Gloves or double socks can really help keep you warm, and take up minimal space.

DO NOT trust that a week long weather report will tbe accurate- especially for days five/six/seven.

I look for items, like jeans or dark sweatshirts, that can be worn more than once in a pinch. I pack a little dry laundry soap- just in case. I ALWAYS come prepped for rain as a possibility.

Another way to make a last minute change is what you wear on the plane ride. Long pants =free space in your suitcase; you can always add an extra layer for the plane ride. (to be removed upon arrival and saved for a cold day)

Still, one more thing you can do...modify your park time. We are mostly troopers, but if the weather is really miserable, we just go back to our resort. Even if it's quite cold - you can almost always use the hot tub. Many of the resorts have nice lobbies, fine dining. You can also opt for more 'indoorsy' attractions, like doing indoor shows and avoiding outdoor shows.

Last but not least, there's no shortage of shirts on sale at WDW. Very close to WDW, if you havea car, is a most excellent outlet mall, actually several! This time of year, it can be great fun to build into your schedule a non-park day that includes shopping...especially if it happens to be raining or very cold!

Good point! Epseicially if it's breezy on that cool night! It can feel more like 30!
