Hand sanitizer stations?

With all the posts about illnesses in Disney and beyond, are there hand sanitizer stations anywhere at WDW? It's the one thing I really liked about being on a cruise - there were everywhere. We'll bring our own, but sometimes when it's out of sight I don't think about it quickly enough.

I do not think they are anywhere but the bathrooms. Remember, hand sanitizer does not kill all things, especially norovirus. The hand stuff only works if you let it dry since that is where the antiseptic part happens. I just wash a lot. Anytime you get large groups of people together, you will get illness, in a large part due to the fact that visitors come from all over, bringing their local germs direct to you.

Hand sanitizers are banned in my family - there is a note on my daughters file at school that says "stop attacking my child with hand sanitizer every 30 minutes .... I forbid you!"

In past I've seen some set up in places before you meet characters but I still don't feel it's enough, good ole fashion water and soap does more.

I keep hand sanatizer on a little attachment to the outside of my diaper bag. I wash whenever possible as washing is better. I haven't seen many hand sanitizer stations in WDW other than bathrooms.

I totally agree.

And I refuse to may more for tickets to feed into and provide hand sanitizer for peoples paranoia, and laziness to find out the real scientific facts, and for the privilege to create and strengthen super germs to attack me when I did nothing to create them!

Stop killing the good germs with this junk! We need them.

If the one thing you liked about being on a cruise is hand sanitizer availability, think how much vacation money you're going to save through the years!!

That must have been a really, REALLY bad cruise...

There are no sanitizer stations except in some of the bathrooms, but washing your hands works fine.

Despite all the nay-sayers to the effectiveness of hand sanitizers, I and my family will continue to use them.

Have done extensive research at different times and most professionals will agree that - 1. soap & water is the BEST defense against most germs being spread (no contest) and not touching face. 2. When soap & water are not available, hand sanitizer works as a second defense (on otherwise clean hands).

I use it for carts in stores, in restaurants after handling the menu (would you like to guess how *dirty* (germs) menus are?). This is just a few of the circumstances that have been documented that can be substituted for hand washing. How many wash their hands after reading a restaurant menu?

It seems to be working for us for several years now, so until we seem to get more viral illnesses than most around us, we will continue what we are doing. Anyway, to each their own.

The only places around the parks I can remember seeing them are at designated character meet & greet locations. I don't even remember seeing them in the bathrooms, although I would wash my hands with soap & water if I'm in the bathroom anyway so I don't really pay attention to whether or not there are any hand sanitizer pumps in there.

There was a hand sanitizer station at the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort.

There may have been others in other locations, but that was the only one I noticed.

I have never used hand sanitizer in my life. I also do not go running to a sink after I've handled menu's, change, door knobs etc etc and I'm doing just fine

My daughter has never used it in her 11 years either and she's rarely sick. Never had a stomach bug either only tonsillitis.

We aren't huge fanatics about germs and my kiddie have never missed a day of school sick. The only - ONLY thing one of my DD's had was Hand, Foot and Mouth disease when she was three.

Other then that neither one of them has ever had a cold even. We wash hands - don't touch our face or rub eyes. Pretty much that is it. My oldest DD went through a hand sanitizer phase - but she learned that at school.

Soap and water.... 100%

It was It was our first, and I don't see another one in my future!!

Thank you for the helpful advice. With it mainly being available in the bathrooms, I agree that defeats the purpose. I'd certainly rather have my kids wash, but sometimes that's not practical (like after touching every interactive bit while in line at Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, or as DH calls it "The Petrie Dish Ride"). My young kiddos are simply terrible about touching their noses & eyes so they seem to catch a lot of stuff; just trying to minimize our chances of getting sick on vacation.

Nope. We just use our utensils...

I don't carry sanitizer with me anymore....except on the airplane. No matter how hard I scrub after taking my DD6 to the restroom on the plane, I just don't feel clean.

I don't carry it at WDW or DLR. I occasionally toss in some antibacterial wipes (Wet Ones) for wiping down the CS tables, but that's only if I have room in my bag. Otherwise, it's soap and water for our hands every time we are in the restroom.

And let me tell you not everyone manages properly. You have to make sure you scrub for at least a minute and make sure you get all areas (backs of hands, in between fingers etc).... And make sure you dry properly.

I'm not a germophobe, but I spent a full day learning this stuff as part of my nursing training!

If one uses sanitizer after touching anything that someone else has touched, one will need to carry a whole lot of hand sanitizer.

No but between the three methods of cleaning your hands: water, soap & water and hand sanitizer, the latter is the LEAST effective against norovirus.
