Any opinions? Sounds very expensive, is it worth it?

i enjoyed it and thought it was worth it (but it is expensive). i liked the stories about how the animals interact. it was fun being closer to the giraffes and such. the dinner at jiko was amazing.

It was worth EVERY penny!!!! I did this as a surprise for my wonderful hubby for his birthday. We met down by Jiko at 3:45 for our trip. By the time it was all over and we left our dinner companions it was close to 9PM!

Our safari was so wonderful! The guide answered every question, the driver was so gracious about stopping so many times, we saw the animals so up close and personal that it was just breathtaking. The giraffes were so close to us that we could have reached out and touched them. Several of the others also came right up by our truck. You get to see back parts of the Savannas and find out info about AKL that you would otherwise never know and experience.

Dinner at Jiko alone costs close to what the price of the safari is. Everything is served family style and the server will gladly bring more if you want it. You start with the bread course, on to appetizers, several main course options, sides, and dessert. Each course is accompanied by a wine pairing chosen by the chef to compliment the items served that day.

I've been going to WDW since '72 and I have to say this is in my list of best things to do at WDW.

I am doing this in Dec prior to my confernce. I have wanted to do it but hubby has no desire so since he is not with me it can be done finally!

VERY worth it. I've been fortunate enough to do it twice. First time I loved it. So a few years later, when I got an unexpected bonus at work, my first thought was - Wanyama Safari again!

We did this on a "Princess" trip with my mom and mom-in-law. It was very cool and the pictures you can get close up of the animals were amazing. The dinner at Jiko after was my favorite meal all week. It was a tasting menu of their best. You will not want to plan much more after this as you will be too full. We enjoyed the camaraderie with the other people as well. You eat family style at the middle big table in Jiko. The chef visits. I believe it was worth the money.

We thought it was well worth the money. The guides really go out of the way to make sure your experience is fantastic. For us, in April, they made sure that we were able to see the baby Waterbuck, even though it meant driving around a bunch and doing quite a bit of looking in areas where the grass was high. We also spent quite a bit of time observing the young giraffe as well. The fact that the group is small makes a huge difference, much more personal interaction. The dinner was also really, really good. We were not expecting the wine pairings, so that really upped the value for us.

It is expensive but it's a unique experience to get so close to the animals followed by dinner at a signature restaurant. When we did it, the price included the tip. If that's still the case, that helps a bit price-wise.

ETA: OP, are you staying Concierge Level? At one time the price was lower for Concierge guests. I don't know if that's still the case or not.
