Christmas Party is it worth it?

I'm attempting to plan the family's 17th Disney world trip. It will be 2 adults, 2 college students, and a high schooler. We did the Halloween party last year and LOVED it, but is the Christmas Party worth it? We keep hearing mixed views...

We really enjoyed it and plan to do it again this year. We stayed the whole time.

My parents had been going to WDW since 1971, primarily at Easter time, and thought they knew it all. I invited then to join me one Dec. and I had bought tickets to MVMCP. They were astonished that they never knew about this and said they would have attended every year had they known. Don't miss it, it's incredible and worth every single penny.

Agree with previous posters : it's a great addition to any Disney vacation, especially if you've been there so many times.

I would recommend the Christmas Party to any Christmas lover, of course, but mostly to those who like to take it slow while in the Parks. There's nothing like walking around Magic Kingdom with Christmas music playing, a hot cocoa in your hand and a cookie in the other!

Also, you get to see some special characters and a lot of the rides will have no wait.

OP, you'll just have to go and see if you think it's worth it for yourself.

That's why you see mixed reviews here on the boards -- some think it's worth it, some don't.

Oh, and :welcome: !

Love the Christmas Party just as much as the Halloween party! If your there then don't miss it.

Yeah I just went ahead and got my tickets for this. It is going to be my family's last day at the park and they have no idea I bought tickets for the party since we had originally agreed we were not going.

When they realize we have to leave early because the park is closing for general admission I'll spring the surprise on them that the night has just begun!! I really hope it makes our last day memorable. :)

what if you are planning on being there the week of christmas....we will check in on the 20th (there are 2 MVMCP nights left) and will be there til the 26....I know that the parade and most of the christmas music and so forth are there the week of christmas,....so would you pay for the party tickets or just wait and see it the rest of the time?.....other than the cookies and hot chocolate is there anything else?.....

Starting 12/22 (the day after the last party) they will start doing the parade, fireworks and stage show during the day. So anyone there then will be able to see those components at no additional charge. But the special party characters won't be out, so if you want to see the characters, you'll have to try and make it to the party.

thanks....I know that I would want to see the characters as would my DD, just not sure if it would be something i could get the DH to agree.....we did the halloween party when the kids were little and loved it.....they are getting older and the "family" time is not what it use to be...they do also tend to want to go off away from us at times, not always bad, just makes me feel a bit old!( not that they dont love to remind me that I am getting old!) may just break down and ge ttickets for the one DD and myself!....they will then have to see what they missid out on!

The parade is really neat however, spending that much money and having to stand in a place for two hours prior only to have people push you out of the way right before the parade makes it not worth it for us to spend the money again.

Everybody needs to do it once to decide if it's worth it for them to do it again. Have fun!

We went once ...... and once was enough for us. WAY TOO CROWDED, in my opinion. Not enough"extra" stuff to see and do to justify the price. Last year we could have gone, but you can still see the castle lighting at a non-party time and the fireworks from various places other than in the park, so we skipped it.

However, we are going to our 3rd MNNSHP next month. :cool1: That party is much better, again in my opinion.

Well...we just left today. :( We did MNSSHP for the first time this year. Trick or treating was so much fun, the parade was truly awesome and so were the fireworks; HOWEVER... it was ridiculously crowded with rude people. Didn't get this since we didn't see waits more than 20-30 minutes (except for TSM, of course) for the entire 8 days we were there. Anyway, for us, once was enough. The pushing, crowding and rudeness were just not fun. And after this, there is little to no chance of us paying to attend the Christmas party, as I would imagine this would be even worse. But as someone else said, go and decide for yourself. One man's hateful crowd scene is another man's Eden.

What a great idea! I'm sure it will be a very appreciate surprise!

We loved MVMCP when we went a couple of years ago. However, my family's favorite holiday is Christmas, so I may be a little biased about that. We would love to go to the party again, however it is extremely hard for me to get time off during that time of year (I work retail), so until I quit my job or retire, I will have to hold on to the memories of when we went back in 2009.

This is a key piece of the decision making equation. If you're one who gets wrapped up in visions of sugarplums every year, you are likely to love the party.

This will be my 10th trip to WDW. I have never done the Xmas party, but we already got our tickets and are psyched!! :santa:

~I hope you decide to go & at least experience it once for yourself. Who wouldn't want to go to a Christmas Party?! If I ever get to take a Christmas trip to Disney, this party will be a must. I've heard that it's nowhere as good as the Halloween Party, but so what! LOL. Anyway, have fun! :santa: :goodvibes
