Beginning next year, DVC members can register for a new, complimentary level of D23 membership that appears to be similar to the current Silver level. They will be able to upgrade to the Gold level at a discounted price. Additional details will appear in the next issue of Disney Files Magazine, which will be mailed out this Thanksgiving, and on DVCMember.com in January.

any idea how that works if you're already a member? i'm a charter member, not that that necessarily means anything, but it says it on my card. would i be able to switch to this complimentary version and remain a charter member?

i might be bit thick, does that mean i can join the D23 fan club at silver grade for free as i'm a DVC member as its expensive isn't it? :scratchin

I'm a charter member, too. I don't know how exactly this will work. Hopefully they'll let us take advantage of the new level (and the upgrade discount) and still let us keep our charter member status.

Yes and no. It will be a new level of D23 membership just for DVC members, but from the description of the benefits it will be similar to the Silver level already available. The Silver level is the less expensive membership option and currently costs $34.99 per year.

Thanks for the post! We'll be watching this one with interest. (Wouldn't want to lose access to the Charter Member's lounge at the Expo!)

Is it really worth joining D23? I belonged to the other Disney club years ago (can't remember the name) which I loved. I have been toying with the idea of joining D23 but the cost has been what's holding me back.

Of course, I JUST joined as a Silver Member 2 weeks ago. Looks like I could have waited and saved myself the 35 bucks!

Ok, after listening to Pete rank on D23, is this a good thing?
Well the price is right, if you are a DVC member, but what can this membership do for us?

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

Wat to go Claire!!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:  :worship: :thumbsup2 :hyper:

Regardless of what it does or does not do, D23 membership signifies just how much a fan the person is. To me, this is an acknowledgement that DVC members are just as rabid a fan base!! :hyper:

That would be my question too. I'm a first day charter gold member and although that doesn't mean anything am wondering if I changed over to the DVC version if that would make any difference in anything.

Begining soon renewal rates will be lowered:
D23 Members can enjoy special savings when they renew their memberships in the world’s only Official Disney Fan Club! It’s our way of saying “thank you” to the best Disney fans we know.

Starting October 1, 2012 and thereafter, D23 Gold Membership renewals will now be $64.99—a savings of $10! And D23 Silver Membership renewals will now be $29.99—a savings of $5!

This special discount applies to all D23 Memberships renewed anytime after October 1, 2012. Guests who renew their membership prior to October 1 will be eligible for this discount the next time their membership comes up for renewal.

We want to thank all of our members for being a part of the club, and we look forward to celebrating the magic of Disney together for many years to come.

I agree 100%. We were previous D23 members and did not renew our membership. This is a wonderful little perk plus recognizes the link between DVC and the rest of Disney. We are Disney lovers. Claire has recognized this.

YOU GO CLAIRE!!! Pixie dust on YOU! pixiedust: I feel the momentum building...

It's never improper to question anything posted on the Internet. :)

This announcement was posted on The Hub, Disney's internal web site, for Cast Members to disseminate to guests.
