Hi.
I have a request in with daddio for a BLT Standard View Studio for a reservation to begin August 25, 2013 and today is my 11 month mark.
I had hoped to already have a confirmation since it is 11 months out. I am aware I'm not the only person they are working for that may need 11 months out but wondered if there was a few people working for him or just 1-2.
I really wanted to keep costs down since my dh, dd and ds are not going with me, just my mom (who is taking me actually).

So, my question is for those that have used David's, how long did it take at your 11 month mark to get your confirmation (hopefully).
Thanks so much!

You should understand that David does not make the reservation. That must be made by the owner who is providing the points. Assuming there were BLT points available from an owner to cover your trip, then whether your trip has already been reserved depends on whether the owner got up and made the reservation, and whether David already knows it has been reserved depends on the owner's sending such notification to him. I don't know how many, if any, people work for David but that is obviously irrelevant to the issue as to whether the reservation has already been made.

Oh, thank you. I thought he "had" the points and when I asked about them making them as soon as MS opened, I was told their hours are 9 am - 5:30 pm. I have been trying to find a point transfer but that wasn't working out so thought I'd go this route. I did ask if they had the points since today was my 11 month mark but was told inventory always changes so knew that was a standard answer. So, I could be waiting a day or weeks for this resevation is now what I just learned. I wonder what the usual wait time for a reservation is and if now I'm obligated to wait even a month or two until they get something. I didn't want to do with a rental with a DVC member since it is so far out so that is why I wanted the transfer but then used David.
Thanks for helping me out. I've been waiting all morning to find out if we got the place or not but as I learned ressies may not even be looked at for weeks if they don't have any points right now for my dates and we must wait for someone else to do it.
Thank you VERY much. I thought I read their website but I did not understand about the reservation process until you explained to me.
Wish me luck! pixiedust:

Are you locked into your reservation? If not, you could always look at the Rent/Trade Board and see if you can find an owner directly.

The bad thing about David's rentals is that they won't do a waitlist. They confirm a reservation where they can find one. I won't use him ever again.

That just ties up an owner's points without any guarantee of a reservation. If you want to waitlist, you need to own the points yourself.

That was a question I had - can you "pull" your points after X months / weeks if he has not been able to rent them?

Daddio uses a contract which I'm sure you can get a sample of that will spell out all the terms.

When I last rented some of my points through him a few years ago, there was no problem with "pulling" your points out if you change your mind about renting them. At the time I had my points listed with two seperate rental brokers and it was first come first serve on who got my points.

Thanks. I tried the rent/trade board here and the other Owner place but only wanted a trasnfer being that the reservation was 11 months out.
If I had to book with someone that far out, I was more confortable using daddios service. I didn't have any luck with a transfer (87 points) and needed it in my 2012 U/Y since I already did a transfer with my 2013 U/Y.
I wanted exactly what I asked for so knew I needed to do at exactly 11 months out.

That could be a flaw but then if I was the owner that was working with him, I wouldn't want to be tying up my own points for someone's waitlist.
My reservation was in before 11 months and I was pretty confident that I would get my request if done right at 11 months for the last week in August.

That just ties up an owner's points without any guarantee of a reservation. If you want to waitlist, you need to own the points yourself.
Yes, that is what I also thought. I wouldn't want to tie up my points if I was on the other end of the rental.

I'm not sure but as I said, it was right before the 11 month mark so I was pretty certain I would get what I wanted.

That's great. Being the owner of the points, you just don't have to make the ressie but I believe what CRobin is asking is if, as the renter, if I didn't get what I wanted after a reaonsable amout of time, can I pull my points. I know we had 4 choices and if it wasn't my 4 choices they would give me an option but not sure how long was acceptable to wait. My resevation was put in right before 11 months and I was pretty sure if they worked on it at 11 months, I would get what I wanted. If it were closer to my reservation date, I would have looked more carefully at the fine print about that option.

Just wanted all to know that yesterday was my 11 month mark and by 1:00 pm my reservation was booked by Davids.
Thanks so much!
