(Title Correction: Why are all moderates booked Nov. 12-16?)
Every single moderate resort is booked from November 12-16 this year. I know F&W is ending and Jersey week and Veterans day and all but even the 13-16 not including monday the 12th is booked solid! Does anyone know why every single moderate resort would be completely FULL during this week??? Every other week I search has availabilty except this week? I am really confused:confused: PLEASE help me understand this:confused3

There's a few resort promotions going on. That might be why. It's a good week to choose, because of value season rates, plus F&W, Veterans Day, Osborne Lights, & MVMCP. Lots of people begin looking out for discount offers earlier in the year. I booked a package early in the year for that Nov. week, because I wanted to make my ADRs at 180+. FD was announced in July, and I changed my existing reservation to FD on the first day of the offer. The room-only discount came out later. Offers aren't guaranteed to come out -- it depends on the resort, and how many (or few) bookings a resort has for a certain time period.

Here's the Fall Free Dining promotion. Offer ends Sept 29th.
Fall Free Dining Offer is good for 9/30/12-10/4/12, 10/19/12-11/1/12, 11/9/12-11/15/12, 11/23/12-11/29/12 and 12/10/12-12/20/12.

There's also a room-only promotion going on. Offer ends Sept 29th.
Fall Savings Offer. Save up to 25% on stays at select Disney resorts, most nights 9/30/12-10/6/12, 10/14/12-10/20/12, 10/28/12-11/3/12, 11/11/12-11/16/12, 11/24/12-12/1/12 and 12/10/12-12/22/12.
Save 25% at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort–Riverside and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort Cabins
(There are also Value resorts and Deluxe resorts in this offer)

Sometimes it's a glitch in the system....have you tried calling?

are you searching for availability on a discount or just on the main site?

I did, even expanded the dates Sunday to Saturday and the only mod that comes up is FW cabins.

Same for me. Really weird. Was planning on staying at cbr for my anniversary that week and was doing room only. Never thought I would have a problem booking last minute

Does calling really make a difference? I know reservations are like the stock market up and down...But I've been trying every day with every combination of dates with and without discounts for CBR-No luck!

there's a convention going on at CSR from the 11-14. So it's had limited availability for several months....even before the promotions (FD & room discount) came out.

There's a half marathon going on at that time ? So, I guess that's different than the 10 miler this weekend...or the full marathon in January...how many "marathons" does WDW have each year ???

When is the "scooter" marathon scheduled ?? 26 miles in a scooter, jee I hope the batteries hold out !!!

and I also have read about a large convention going on during that time which will use up a large portion of the moderate rooms.

I guess you have got to give Disney credit...they know how to market WDW to maximize capacity.

This is an instance where waiting didnt pay off.

That's why i dont wait for.discounts to book if your dates are set...

Dont think wdw has to offer as many discounted rooms to fill resorts.

Sorry you can't get the dates you wanted. It's also Jersey week when all the schools are closed so a lot travel to Disney. I am a Disney travel agent and always inform my clients of events or happenings. There is no reason to wait for discounts and chance it. If you book early and an offer comes out later like free dining you can always adjust it as long as there is availability. For those of you who book on your own and don't keep abreast of new deals this is a huge reason you should use a Travel agent who specializes on Disney. Most don't cost more than booking on your own and they won't let you miss out in any deals. You probably could have avoided your situation if you used a travel agent.

There are a LOT of things going on that weekend.

Veterans Day holiday, end of Jersey week, end of the Food & Wine Festival, Wine & Dine Half Marathon, Festival of the Masters at DTD, some of the Christmas decorations will be up, at least one large convention at CSR, dates haven't yet been released for the Passholder previews of New Fantasyland - but it might be that week. Discounts and free dining are to be had as well. A lot of free dining guests upgrade to moderates to get the regular plan. That won't fill the resorts up but it helps.

I booked with DVC at 11 months, it's always hard to get a room at the last minute on the Veterans Day weekend. In June I grabbed an extra night at Art of Animation, no discounts on that one but it's a Thursday (not weekend price) and only one night.

They may have some rooms blocked off at CBR, YC, BC, and the AS Values because those are host resorts for the Half Marathon. I called a while back when the percent off deal came out to see which way to go and they seemed to have availability still. http://www.rundisney.com/travel/disneyworld/ I do know that when I tried to see if a Deluxe was available that weekend only I think AKL came up and cabins at FW were the other option.

Oh my goodness! I didn't realize that SO much was going on. I used a few of the crowd calendar sites recommended on the Dis when I booked our 11/11--11/17 trip. Back then, it appeared to be a light(er) week for WDW. I wonder if the parks will be jammed?

No matter what, I'll be at Disney and not at work. So, yay!

I know its not technically a Disney hotel, but what about the Dolphin? Just saw it on hotels.com for $189 a night for your dates. We stayed there on our last trip & loved it, so much better than our awful stay at POR on our previous trip.

I am waiting on the time of a football game and the time of my daughter's cheer competition in order to book our trip. :rotfl2: I"m not picky we will stay anywhere.

You will find a resort somewhere. May not be your favorite. Sounds like the parks will busy. But convention and marathon might help offset the busy resorts. I would imagine restaurants outside of parks will be busy/booked.
