The Greatest Hits: A Trip Like This Needs a Soundtrack!-A July 2012 TR Upd. 5/5!

Hi Joni, I love your Spaceship Earth pics lol

How yummy does that schoolbread look? I think we'll be visiting Norway after lol

Does John actually like the taste of Beverly? Lol

LOVE your Spaceship Earth photo.

My grandmother loved Ray Stevens so my brother and I heard his songs a lot as kids. I think my brother knew every word of every song. I'm sure he would know your viking song, but I don't remember that one. But, you are right, I don't think you had many to choose from.

Ok, so can tell me what school bread is? It looks delicious and might have to be added to my list!!

Many thanks to your DH too, for his service :goodvibes. Prayers are coming your way! If you get bored, feel free to wander down (over? I'm not so good with directions :confused3 ) to Fayetteville! Our furbabies can have a playdate :). Love that John is a Norway lover - Dylan is, too. We spend much time there while in Epcot! And schoolbread? Mmmmmm....

Just doing a little Happy Dance Here!!! :yay::cool1::yay:
So excited to see a new post from you!!!
Thank you, Thank you!!!
I think everyday I look to see if you've posted!!! Obviously not everyday... :lmao: Your post is a few days old.
I'm so glad you had a few extra days with John... What a wonderful surprise for you!!!
You guys are always in my prayers...
Love the pictures... Everytime I've been on Spaceship Earth it has stopped on us and we have sat and sat in the cars for a long period of time... So when we get off we usually just leave... We don't even take a few minutes to check out the pictures and other cool stuff. We'll need to next time...
John's pictures are so funny.. :rotfl2:
Isn't it funny how for me, I've been to Disney lots of times, not a ton but lots and I've never tried schoolbread or anything else from Kringla Bakerki og Cafe... I'll have to try it next time
Looking forward to more updates...
Oh by the way... Ray Steven's song is hilarious... :lmao:

So glad to see you are back and updating again!
We have never really had time to enjoy Norway but after your tr I'll be sure we do-and try out that yummy looking schoolbread.

Glad to see you are up to posting again!!:wave2: I am sure him leaving was awful....I hope his time away flies by!!
I have got to try some of that school bread, it looks so good! I can't believe as many times as I have been I've never had it before. I also can't believe you love Ray Stevens! When I was little my aunt had his VHS we watched it all the time....I find myself to this day quoting that man. :rotfl2: Love him.

Cracking up at your Spaceship Earth pics!!! Too funny! My middle son made us pose on Splash Mountain every time we rode it, I love crazy pics!

My husband and I picked the same exact snacks at Norway as you guys did! Delish. I also heart Maelstrom. We walked through the church for the first time this year...I don't think I would have even known it was there if not for a few TRs I read here!

I will be praying for you and your husband these next months! Hoping the time goes quickly...

Haha thanks! I love making funny faces in ride photos, but usually I'm too busy screaming my head off!

You guys have great taste! ;) I'm pretty sure John ended up eating half of my schoolbread! There's so much to do in Norway that I feel like a lot of people miss. Thank goodness for the DIS!

I'm glad you're getting over the sadness of John leaving. I'm praying that you two stay strong and I'm sure you will. :goodvibes

Oh those Spaceship Earth pictures..... :lmao: I got a good laugh out of those. My mom looked at me like...huh? :P

The Stave Church is horrible. I agree with you. It's boredom personified.

Ahh, schoolbread. That is all.

Can't wait to hear about you tricking your mom into drinking the Beverly..boy, is that gonna be a story.

Great update! :)

Thank you so much! :) It's still really hard, but I get a little more used to it everyday. Plus, each day that passes means I'm one day closer to having him home! :goodvibes

I'm glad you enjoyed them! :rotfl:

I know, I hate that part of Norway. SO BORING.

Haha yeah, that's about all that needs to be said about schoolbread!

Loved the latest update!! So cool you live in Clemmons...I know exactly where that is.

Thank you! :) That's awesome! We're practically neighbors!

Every time I go on Spaceship Earth, I always seem to get the exact same adventure, even if I intentionally try to pick different choices, and yes, it's always the same one that you guys got!

Wait, does John like the Beverly?!? I've never heard of anyone liking it, even Italians! I tricked my DBF into trying it on our last trip, and it was a priceless moment, so I can't wait to hear how things go with your mom!

Mmmm... school bread! If you were a duck, wouldn't you want to hang out where you might be able to snag a few school bread crumbs? :)

I know, I feel like we get the same story a lot too!

He says that he does! I dunno, he has strange tastebuds I guess! And he thinks I'm weird because I like mayonaise! :rotfl:

Haha yeah that duck is definitely hang out in a perfect spot to beg for crumbs!

Note to self... Do not read your updates after going for a run. I was already hungry, but that school bread is about to motivate me to run all the way to Epcot.

Haha I'm sorry I made you hungry! Those schoolbread pictures are pretty darn tempting... :scratchin

YAY! Glad you're back. Good to see you updating again. Thinking about you while John is away.. a :grouphug:from Wisconsin!

I think I'll break down and try school bread this time....

Thank you so much! :) I'm glad to be back! Thank you for your well wishes and for keeping us in your thoughts!

DO IT! You will not regret it! :thumbsup2

So glad to have you back updating! I hope the deployment goes by quickly so y'all can be reunited! :goodvibes

Sounds like y'all were off to a good start in EPCOT. Love the Spaceship Earth picture! :rotfl:

I don't know why but I love Maelstrom. That schoolbread looks very yummy. Might have to try that soon!

Thank you so much! :)

We were having a great morning! I love EPCOT so much!

Maelstrom does have a certain charm! You should try it- you will not regret it!

Welcome back Joni! Distract yourself with the DIS and planning your March trip and John will be home before you know it. :goodvibes

I love that John wanted to ride the Maelstrom as soon as it opened. It's because it's the best ride ever. He knows what's up.

YAY a snack at Kringla! The best kind of snack, really. Your deer face is priceless, and now I really want school bread. YUMMMM!

Thank you so much Kristen! I'm so happy to be back! It's nice to be getting back in the swing of things. :goodvibes

Haha yeah he's definitely got his head in the right place! He wanted to get there before all the hordes of people stormed the entrance!

Seriously, you have created a monster with me and schoolbread. I crave it ALL THE TIME!

Hi Joni, I love your Spaceship Earth pics lol

How yummy does that schoolbread look? I think we'll be visiting Norway after lol

Does John actually like the taste of Beverly? Lol

Thank you! I'm glad you like my silly face! :rotfl:

It is SO GOOD! I highly recommend it!

Haha I guess he does...he always drinks it when we go there!

LOVE your Spaceship Earth photo.

Thank you! :)

Ray Stevens reminds me of my grandmother too! I remember listening to him when I was a kid! He's hilarious!

Ok, so can tell me what school bread is? It looks delicious and might have to be added to my list!!

Sure! It is basically heaven on a plate, but to break it down, it's a cream filled bread that is topped with pineapple and more cream. And the breading is cinnamon flavored. It's DELISH!

Mmmmmm....

Thank you so much! That means a lot to both of us! :goodvibes That's so cool that you live in Fayetteville! So you're surrounded by military folks too, I guess!

That's so funny that they both love Norway so much! It is a great place...especially thanks to that schoolbread!

Thank you so much for your comment Carolyn! You are always so kind! It means so much to me that you look forward to my updates the way that you do!

And thank you for continuing to pray for us! That means the world to both of us!

That's so weird that Spaceship Earth always messes up when you ride it! That happens to me on Splash Mountain! I guess we just have rotten luck with some rides!

You HAVE to try schoolbread! You will love it! :thumbsup2

Haha I love Ray Stevens! He's the best!

So glad to see you are back and updating again!
We have never really had time to enjoy Norway but after your tr I'll be sure we do-and try out that yummy looking schoolbread.

Thank you! :) I'm so happy to be back!

YES! You must explore Norway and try the schoolbread! You will not regret it!

Oh my gosh, yes! You have to try schoolbread! You will absolutely love it!

That's so funny that you watched Ray Stevens a lot! He cracks me up! :rotfl:

July 8, 2012

Let’s get down to business
to defeat the Huns
Did they send me daughters
when I asked for sons?

When I left off we were just finishing a delicious snack in Norway! After we stuffed ourselves with sweets we wandered out of Norway and into China. It was only about 11:30, so the characters were starting to come out, and we spotted Mulan in China with literally no wait! We couldn’t resist meeting her, so we walked right up to say hello! :wave2:

Mulan was really pretty and sweet. She commented on all of my war medals (my pin lanyard) and then wished us a happy anniversary. She asked us to hold hands for our pictures, and they turned out really cute!

DisneyTripSummer2012198_zpse9af65fb.jpg

And here’s the PhotoPass pictures!

Photo0001FourBySix_zpsdab45bbf.jpg

It was so fun meeting her! John joked later that he looks like he’s pushing her out of the way in the pictures because she’s short and his shoulders are so big. “And none for Mulan Weiners...BYE.” :lmao:

After we hung out with Mulan we made our way over to Italy! I stopped to see the sad gelato donkey.

DisneyTripSummer2012199_zps805db79a.jpg

He’s sad because he wants some nutella gelato. I can’t blame him.

John really wanted to stop and smoke a cigarette, so while he did that I wandered around a gift shop in Italy and saw this really cute shirt with food from all the countries in the World Showcase!

DisneyTripSummer2012200_zps7f071622.jpg

I also admired the beautiful masks they sell. I was obsessed with them, and I wanted one so badly. They are super expensive, though.

I came out of the shop and started heading toward the smoking area when I realized for the first time like EVER there was no one milling around the fountain in Italy. I always want to take pictures there but there’s usually 8 million photobombers in my way, so I raced over and forced John to take some pictures.

DisneyTripSummer2012202_zpsace52cc8.jpg

After Italy it was time to go to John’s favorite country- Japan! That boy loves any and everything Japanese, so we always spend a ton of time there. We went in the gift shop first to browse.

It was getting pretty hot out, so one of these babies was tempting!

DisneyTripSummer2012203_zps85261cbe.jpg

Then I found this adorable little man with a unibrow. I wanted him, but I resisted the urge to spend any money!

DisneyTripSummer2012204_zps15970c87.jpg

John wanted to go in Spirited Beasts (AGAIN) so I begrudgingly agreed.

DisneyTripSummer2012205_zps34b5d182.jpg

Remember the Slayer of Vanity from my last TR? He’s this half man/half bird who apparently plays tricks on vain people. Sooo...I took a very vain photo with him.

DisneyTripSummer2012207_zps34b07d7d.jpg

DisneyTripSummer2012206_zps225d224b.jpg

John really liked the statue, so he posed for a picture too!

DisneyTripSummer2012208_zpsd74bc0c2.jpg

Yeah, we were feeling very vain. We needed to be slain.

After playing around in Japan we made our way over to the UK. I really wanted to meet Mary Poppins, and it was almost time for her to come out. We found the spot where she would be, and we were only second in line!

When she came out I noticed that she was acting really funny. I think she was too hot in her outfit or something, because she kept closing her eyes and doing this swooning motion like she might faint. :confused3 Bless her though, she stayed in character.

DisneyTripSummer2012209_zps10d31b31.jpg

She asked me how long John and I had been married. When I told her four years she said, “Well, that’s practically perfect!” LOVE IT. :lovestruc

DisneyTripSummer2012210_zps22596c63.jpg

Despite her oncoming heat stroke, Mary held it together really well. However, as we were walking away I noticed her talking to her handler and motioning her hands like she was not very happy. I’m thinking Miss Poppins might have gone on an extended jolly holiday after we left...

Up next: From the land to The Seas...then back to The Land again! Stay tuned!

I got a good laugh out of your frumpy Spaceship Earth face, so thanks!!

In your stink face picture you look strangely familiar, but not familiar in the way that I've seen your picture on trip reports... so I'm gonna go pretend that I've met you before without knowing it. I mean, you and my roommate are practically next door neighbors, right? COOL! Although if I did meet you and you gave me a stink face, then I don't know what to think...

Why didn't I know there was a food called a troll horn?

Let's buy some twin unibrow Japanese men on our twin trip. :thumbsup2

Poor Mary! That is not practically perfect! The good news is I saw her (ish...) weeks later feeling much better.

It's absolutely normal for you to be depressed when John gets deployed. It's fine to stay away from the DIS for that. I can imagine adjusting is a little hard at first. I'm glad that you're feeling better. :)

YOU GOT THE ADR FOR BE OUR GUEST?! I'm so insanely jealous. I can't wait to hear what you think about it. We're only going to get to eat there for CS lunch. I could not get a dinner reservation for November for the life of me.

I love your SE picture. Hilarious.

There is no shame in getting free beverages. I think that would qualify everyone as a redneck then. LOL.

Rope drop at the Maelstrom. That's some good times there. Hahaha.

I'm in love with Viking Donald. But then, I'm just in love with Donald in general, so I'm pretty bias.

My brother loves the Stave Church! He took me in there last time we went and was trying to get me interested in it and the whole "listen, it's music from the Lord of the Rings!!!" Not interested. LOL.

I love both of the treats that you got from Kringla! My favorites.

None for Mulan Weiners? Who doesn't love a good Mean Girls reference? Hahaha.

I would be sad if I couldn't have Nutella gelato! It's amazing stuff.

Little Unibrow Man? I must find him and he must be mine!

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better! I could not imagine how hard this is for you, you are a VERY strong woman!

I love the unibrow man, that is my quest now...MUST HAVE!!!

Mary Poppins is the one character I have never met, I hope to see her in March :)

Looking forward to more updates :thumbsup2

Oh.my.goodness. your Spaceship Earth picture! I was cracking up so loud that my boyfriend kept asking what was so funny and I couldn't stop laughing to tell him!:rotfl2:

Nicely done with hitting up Norway as soon as it opened. I love it there and I can almost never resist schoolbread, especially when it's mid-morning snack time.

Those pictures with Mulan and Mary Poppins are adorable! It's so great how the characters will take the time to ask you about yourself and I can tell they really care.

On another note, I am so jealous of your Be Our Guest ADR. I'm there in November just before the "sneak preview" and am so upset that I'm just missing all the new Fantasyland glorious-ness!

War medals? Haha, oh Mulan, you're so cute!

I love that shirt with the World Showcase foods on it!

Poor Mary... but what a trooper! I imagine all of those layers have to be warm!

So fun that y'all got to meet Mulan!

And I love Japan, too! I might have to get one of those fans if it's too hot next week.

I love that Mary Poppins stayed in character even though she was about to pass out. :rotfl:

Joni! I had no idea you had started a new TR...a couple months ago...:( I'm so sorry it took me so long to find it! I'm off now to get caught up! :goodvibes

Aww the Mulan picture is so sweet! :goodvibes

BTW, I love your song choice! My DBF's second favorite Disney movie (behind Lion King) is Mulan, and that is his favorite part!

I love that food shirt so much! I'm going to get it someday!

Oh, poor Mary Poppins! I'm sure she's not the first to feel faint in costume that heat! :faint: I couldn't imagine!

I have lurked on all your past TRs and decided to finally comment on this one. It sounds like you and John always have the best time together.

We are going again in a year and are praying for Be Our Guest ADRs so I will have to watch for your next TR to get a preview of it.

Keep the laughs coming! :rotfl:
