WDW Commando Club

Look at the back and see if they are part of the 18 card set or the newer 25 card set, I think they were on the 18 card set in 2010:confused3, you most likely will not find cards from the 18 card set at WDW, since they have been retired, but eBay does have quite a bit from that set, plus I might have some extras:thumbsup2

All the cards you would get this trip will be from the 25 card set :thumbsup2

It's the 18 set...He wants to get the new set too... I was gonna see about getting the rest of the old set for his stocking...hahahaha. Yay ebay.

I've been seeing that Whispering Canyon Cafe may have changed their menu to a skillet only:confused3, if this is the case even though we like it there it's not going to work for us:rolleyes1, so what I'm thinking of doing is making that day our Sea World day and making a later ADR for Portobello's:confused3

Where did you see that? I just did a quick search but didn't see anything about them changing... If that's true, I'm not going to keep my ADR there for December.

Never mind, just saw the post in the dining threads. Hmmm, so now where should I try to find a spot for our arrival dinner? I wanted somewhere really laid back since I don't know how DD will behave after being in the car so long. And I had booked WCC as en excuse to see the tree at WL. Our other ADR is breakfast at GF the next morning so I could see the Christmas decorations at the monorail resorts. Any ideas?

Thanks for making the ADR Ron, now all I have to do is figure out how to get from AoA to Polly by 7:30 using Disney transportation. :lmao:

I would ask at the front desk, but since buses run 60-90mins before park opening, on that day HS has a A.M. EMH so it will open at 8, worse case you might have to catch a bus to HS then back to Poly:scratchin, We will be driving I'd pick you up but we will be all packed for our return trip home:scared1:

Our plane leaves at 850 the morning of the first :-(...will anyone be there before then? I have convinced my DBFF we need to do kona cafe one morning. Mmmm samoan.

I'm there from Sept 29 to Oct 6. My plans (i'm talking to fellow commandos so you all get it) No park 29th, Mk: sept 30, HS am/mk ee pm: Oct 1, No park/BlueMan group pm Oct 2, Ep: Oct 3, Ak:oct 4, anything goes Oct 5, home Oct 6.
Let me know whose available & when...

I'll be there Oct 1st!!!!!- are you there then too?- Should plan a meet?

I will not be there, But on Oct 1 Epcot is celebrating their 30th anniversary and they are giving out some little collectible souvenirs :thumbsup2, plus they have some events plan, might be something to check out

Okay,
Note to self :change in plans...go to Epcot on Oct 1!

Click on news on the bar on top of the page, go to the Epcot new story, that has some info of events and limited edition stuff you can buy

Also on It's A Disney World After All, in this weeks news & rumors it tells you some free stuff they are handing out:thumbsup2

Depending on your dinning tastes, Cape May Cafe:confused3, they have some awesome Christmas decorations in the lobby plus you can cover the other resorts at the Boardwalk:confused3

That's an idea, DH does love his seafood. I asked on the dining thread, but no one seemed to know... Is there one spot that lists all of the menu changes from this past week? The only ones I've heard about were WCC and Beaches and Cream.

I'm so excited about seeing the decorations. I hope to visit all the deluxe resorts. Except maybe AKL, not sure I can justify going out of the way there.

I get most of my Disney food info from the Disney Food Blog.

Hello,
I am new to DIS but I am beyond in love with WDW!!!:wizard: I'd love to join the commando club. I was trying to read through from the beginning before I joined but two days in I'm only at page 23.:surfweb: I will come back to give my full "story" in a bit, but I must say. . . I'M SO HAPPY I FOUND YOU ALL!!! :cool1:Others who don't do commando on some boards can be so mean.:( I am just really glad to find you all, what a great resource.

Thanks for passing that along. I'm feeling better about the Beaches and Cream changes now. I'm putting it back on our list.

We have yet to try Beaches N Cream. We were trying to wait until we could get in at BCV, but that may never happen. Our restaurant ADRs have to fit in the with the commando schedule.

Welcome. Our fearless leader will be around to get you a number. Feel free to post. You have lots who understand. Any cool strategies are welcome as well.

Thanks!:thumbsup2
I guess I should start from when I was a kid (you know waaaaaaaay back when considering I'm 24 now, lol). We would go with my granny, great granny, aunt, cousin, dad, mom and once my brother was born he came too! We would go every year, usually at the end of summer when it was super busy. I didnt mind, at the time a 2 hour wait for a 2 hour ride was part of the fun. Once my parents took me (when I was two) during Christmas and that trip has my earliest memory of anything, so how cool is it that my first memory was shying away from Minnie at MK during the Christmas parade ;) (More like I began to bug out as she got closer, but once she stepped back into the parade I was a happy camper again).
We always did everything that we wanted. Back then there were only 3 parks. Once AK came along we changed the time of year to non-busy April and May dates. One tip I give to people with children, my dad would have us get our homework for anything the teacher knew of after spring break, BEFORE spring break. We went to school in MI so school's down south would be on spring break the week before us, then our spring break, then he would schedule our vacation. Technically we would be out of school a extra week, but because we got extra school work we never fell behind. That worked pretty much perfect because FL weather was nice and warm and we were still before the college kids or HS seniors graduated.
The last time I went we went in November and decided that was definitely the time to go! Low crowds, great weather, especially good for first timers. I thought my family was the only family that could hold conversations and weave them with Disney movie sayings. I know WDW better than I do Detroit (where I'm from). I remember when McDonald's was only a cart at MK with 4 options. . . hamburger/cheeseburger, 6 piece nugget, fries (one size) and or a big mac. I remember and still refer to DHS as MGM. I know you need to be at RD head to SM and the Indy Karts then over to CP (ADR of course) then attack FL from the back (we usually bi-passed FL altogether, it was more of a way to get to Frontierland!)

All in all, I am one Army brat that trained and ready at all times for a WDW adventure!!!
