Is there any difference in bus service quality (moderates)?

Stayed at CBR this past May for our kids first trip and are onto planning for the next trip.

Stayed in the Pirate rooms so we were all the way down at Trinidad South, but the bus stop worked really well (time wise to parks, passenger density, frequency).

I was thinking maybe PORFQ for the next trip and was wondering what impressions were for those who've stayed at both resorts (or other moderate resorts). Is there any difference in bus service quality between them (frequency, trip duration, passenger density)?

Our next trip will be off-season (late January/ February) so maybe I'm splitting hairs (?) Thanks for any input.

First off :welcome: to the disboards...

2nd...Weve found CBR to be one of the worst bus systems we've encountered..
Out of the Mods....Theres none IMHO that can compete w/ CSR... The fact that it is a convention resort means that there's never a bus that you have to stand on...AT least all the times we were there...

POFQ & POR are virtually the same....Not great not Horrible, but I might add, that coming home from Fantasmic, WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS.....Waited at least 7 or 8 buses...WAy too long..

As you can see we really do enjoy CSR but POR is nice as well...Good luck w/ your choice.

long time since I have stayed at a moderate - but the bus service for me was better at PO (POR and POFQ will share) than Cbr..

maybe because if was 2 resorts - but they seem to come very often.

we go every year and our next trip in 32 days will be at POP and we have over the years staye din all deluxe but AKL and all moderates and then tried all the all star resorts and tehn wen to POP four years ago and they have the best bus service of ANY property there. we keep going back there because of that plus the CM's so nice there and several things to do. rooms small but we not in them that much anyhow. is three of us now but if fourth goes we do get two connecting rooms as that is better bathroom wise. the buses at POP always on time and one after another and same leaving the parks they get their buses there if one fills they calling for another. we had horrible wait times at GF and Poly and Yachstclub and Beech club and CSR was bad as well.

CBR is probably our favourite mod- we've been there several times and never had a problem with the bus service.

We've also been at both POR and POFQ multiple times. The only time we ever had a problem with a long wait/high demand for buses was one day going to and from MK. But to be fair it was a very busy spring break with a packed resort and park. Could happen to any resort on any given day. Other than that they were fine.

The nice thing about POFQ is there is only the one bus stop, and when they share buses with POR (they don't always), POFQ is picked up and dropped off first.

I agree I think CSR has the best bus service. So many don't like the resort but I think it's hands down one of the best

We have been to all the moderates. We will be at POFQ next month. We have had the most bus problems at CBR. But I think anyplace can have off times. We have stayed at POR the last two times and have had very short waits for buses. In the middle of the day when returning is when you have the most wait. We never shared with POFQ on this trip. POFQ is nice because there is only one stop and if its shared its the first usually.

POFQ had great buses when we stayed. We rarely shared with POR and never waited long.

Last week We stayed at POR. The evening buses were terrible so most of the time we took the POFQ bus and walked back to POR. The POFQ buses were never full. After MK evening emh, the bus line for POR was long enough to fill 5 buses and there were 20 people in the POFQ line.

I think at DHS POR and POFQ share a return bus. So of you stay til closing, then you might have issues. We left two hours before closing with no issue, though.

THANKS everyone! I feel like I can't lose given what everyone's shared. If CBR is at the bottom of the spectrum in regards to getting around, I'm golden, because I was more than satisfied there. POP has to be a contender as well with a bus cudos like that.

I had been to the parks twice before as a kid and once as a young adult (with coworkers during business travel and always staying off campus), but this was my first go as a dad with success or failure ON ME. Staying on campus certainly "iced the cake." We loved the Disney-ness of the resort, but when it's all said and done, the room was just a place to crash EXHAUSTED at the end of the day and a place for the kids to swim after lunch to refresh. That's why MOBILITY has been put at the top of the list of considerations for round two.

Thanks again!

We seem to have had the best bus service at the values. I like the bus "lines" vs. everyone huddle under the covered stop, which seems to be crazy in the am. Plus at least you know when the bus pulls up, it wont be FULL. We stayed at all stars many times and never had a problem, and POP. I think we did pretty good at POFQ other than when we shared with POR, which was only a couple of times. But we had HORRIBLE bus service at times at POR, and sometimes it was OK. We have taken buses from POLY, CR, and GF after ADR's, and they were all pretty bad because there were multiple stops. So I guess we have come to the conclusion, just pick a resort, and we dont base it on buses, we just learned to never be in a HURRY:thumbsup2

I'm one of those people who compares bus lines as I walk by them on my way to the lines for the Pop Century on the other side of Orlando....:rotfl2:. Caribbean is ALWAYS the longest line. We often joke that "look. the Caribbean is as long as us..." makes us feel better about our wait. :rotfl: Ive also noticed the other moderates are shorter lines. So I'm agreeing with the rest here.

disnet buses are the same all over disney. no difference at from any of the hotels. wait time usually up to 20 min. to any park or hotel.

oh I think you'll find many that disagree with this myself included. Take into consideration that some buses share with other resorts, stop at water parks first, etc. Lots of factors in the bus situation

We had a great experience during Spring Break at POFQ. I was concerned since we were traveling with my parents who are in their late 60's. A friend had told me that POFQ had only one bus stop and that they were usually first on the pick up if sharing with POR. It worked out very well. On a previous trip, we stayed at POP and we did have to stand more. It was not bad since I was with my sons who are teenagers. There is nothing better than getting on a cool bus at the end of the day and having a seat!

The question is like asking about the weather. It is very subjective. Waiting 15 minutes or so for a bus when I do not have to drive on a vacation to me is fine, while others will complain about the entire system if a bus does not come in a minute or two.

As a previous poster mentioned, the buses are dispatched from a central location. It isn't as if each resort has its own set of buses, so it isn't really fair to tag a particular resort as having consistently poor bus service. Yes, it can, of course, make a difference if a resort shares a route with other resorts or has multiple stops within the resort, but that only relates to the length of the ride to your destination and not to how often a bus to a particular park will show up. I've stayed at six different resorts and never had consistently poor bus service at any of them. It's probably about as good as mass transit bus service could be expected to be. We've stayed at CBR several times and always had excellent and efficient bus service, with minimal waits. I'm not saying that people don't ever have bad experiences with the bus sytem - they obviously have, and it's frustrating. But I just don't think it should be generalized to blame bad bus service on the specific resort, since the resort itself has no control over how often the buses come.

Well then who is ever doing the dispatching does a terrible job for POR. I loved the resort but the bus service was the worst of any value, mod, deluxe or DVC that we've stayed at so far. In the AM the buses would come over already full from POFQ and at night the buses for POFQ were almost empty but there were huge lines for POR so we always took the POFQ bus back at night and walked over.

I agree with this completely. To me 15 mins isn't bad to wait for a bus really. Of course I'd love a less than 5 minute wait but waiting a few extra minutes doesn't make the bus system terrible at all in my book.

I think asking about bus service is irrelevant. I may have an excellent bus service at POR... but on your stay at POR your experience may not be the same as ours. Our bus may come every 15 minutes or so, but during your stay, you may have to wait 30 to 45 minutes for whatever reason the delay is. I can wait for 30 minutes but to some, it could mean like an eternity!

I do not mind the waiting so much. Typically that is when we put on our sunscreen. However, I do not like always having to stand on crowded buses and I was concerned about that on my last trip when we were traveling with my parents. I think the resort can make a difference. I would think bigger resort would mean more crowded buses. I also like the idea of only having one stop.
