Golf Near Disney

Daughter and I are bringing our clubs down in Oct.. Looking to play Osprey Ridge and a course not on property. Any recommendations? Don't want to spend a fortune, or drive too far. I have looked at Orange County National...looks nice.

DH said he thought you could play Bay Hill only if you were staying at their resort. One time his company had a meeting there, so he got to play it. Loved it! If you can play there when staying at WDW, please let me know!

I have played the golf course at waldorf bonnet creek (we got a great deal but you can call to see what they are charging). It was a great course. Thinking of playing it again when we go in December because of how great we were treated. Also, holiday inn orange lake (it is a vacation club) has 3 courses. One 9 hole and two 18. This is about 10 minutes from animal kingdom. Just played all three courses in April. We enjoyed the 9 hole and the more expensive of the 18 holes (of course I can't remember the names of the courses)

I have not played Bay Hill since High School. If the rules have changed since '77, I would not know.

DH and DS would love to play Bay Hill. They researched it last year and found unless you stay there or you are a member, you can't play there. If anyone has any other experience at Bay Hill, we would love to hear about it.

On a separate note, they did get tickets and attend the Bay Hill Tournament as spectators and loved it.

You might want to check out the Marriott courses near Grande Vista.

I'll weigh in my choices.

First, avoid Osprey. They are building the new Four Seasons on the old Eagle Pines course. They are also using the old Eagle Pines 18th hole as the new 18th hole on Osprey so it technically is not the same course.

I would go with the Buena Vista instead but that is just my opinion.

My second choice would be the Ritz Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes. It is just down the road from Sea World and it is a first class course all the way. Your group gets its own forecaddie and it is included in the fee. Tip is extra but all the times I have been there the caddies earned their $15 to $20 tip. It does get a little pricey in the winter but it is still worth it.

Southern Dunes
Harmony Golf Preserve
Falcon's Fire
Hawks Landing
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

All of them are first class layouts. You wont have a bad round at any of them.

By the way, I think Reunion is for resort guests only as well. I called them last year before my trip and they said they wont make exceptions.

I've played all (formerly) Disney 99 holes of golf, but haven't been to Osprey since the closing of Eagle Pines. The only non-Disney course I've played there is Falcon's Fire. Falcon's Fire is a first class layout and was in excellent condition when I played it. For those who may be wondering, the 99 were Magnolia, Palm, Osprey, Eagle Pines and LBV plus the nine at Oak Trails.
