I read on here that the Poly is supposed to be getting remodeled soon. Is this true? If so, will they remodel all the rooms in the longhouses? Also, will they be putting in a hot tub? I know it's the oldest deluxe resort, but I think it's time to put in a hot tub. All the other delux resorts have it. Thanks!

ive heard of rumors of a DVC there. think some site surveys were studied(view lines, etc). There were some pics of balloons on tether to judge views from existing buildings etc. Makes sense since GF is doing it, CR did it, WL has it, AKL has it, BWI/BC have it. get my drift....Deluxes seem to have an accompanying DVC already..............

could explain the remodel. They want the Poly to have a fresh look when selling DVC there.

But a remodel is already getting started soon.......

if the rumors are right - it is more than a remodel - it is tear down and do again - and yes right now there is a hot tub and DVC part on the plans - but plans can change - so don't count on it until you have tried it out!

it is surpose to start in 2013. guessing it will be one building at a time - so they can still rent the others. so no great loss of income.

My biggest worry would be when they do the roof repair on the main building. how will this effect Ohana and Kona? heard Capt Jacks is too be redone.

Thanks for the replies! I'm wondering if they do put up a DVC at the Poly, where would it be built? I mean the Poly doesn't have a lot of land/ wiggle room to build another building, especially with a DVC being built at the GF near the wedding pav and the TTC at the other end. I wonder if they'll just tear down a building then rebuild a DVC near the TTC. I read this online that a possible solution would be to take down RAPA NUI to build a DVC, but not too sure.

I think i read that if built the dvc will be over on the side towards GF. 1 of those buildings could go bye bye.....Those rooms now are really a nice location for us.

At one point, the rumor was the entire GCH was to be completely torn down and rebuilt. I'm not sure if that rumor is still around or if it's been disproven. They definitely need to address the leaks in the GCH. I have heard that a hot tub will be installed with the next refurb. But I also know there have been issues with cracking in the Volcano pool so at a minimum there will be major refurb on the pool and there have also been rumors that it will be completely torn out and redone.

[psst: I think you mean Captain Cook's, not Captain Jack's. Captain Cook's is the CS at the Poly. Captain Jack's is a TS restaurant at DTD.]

That's intersting news.....I stayed at Aoteroa last time I was at POLY. I really liked the area, but the rest of my party didn't care too much for that particular area. Take that building down and build it in that location. I'll have to look further into this possibilty of a DVC at POLY. Thanks.

That's crazy about the volcano pool....that pool isn't really that old! Overall, it would be great to redo POLY. It's a great resort and would be awesome to have it updated with the rest of the deluxe resorts.

Maybe they'll do it just like when they built the Poly, essentially create land where there is now water. From what I've read, they did that for a lot of WDW because there is so much wetland. :)

Yes--rooms are getting remodeled/refurbished. All the plans and permits were filed a week or so ago. It will start in Aotearoa(very soon), Fiji, then Tuvalu before they procede to the other side of the resort. The last longhouses (Tahiti and Rapa Nui I believe) are supposed to be finished up next summer. In the plans the bathrooms are to be reconfigured to include dual sinks. Also supposed to be work done on the HVAC, plumbing, and finally some ventilation for the fridges so that they will work properly without having to leave the cabinet open! Also, they are supposed to put in a hot tub and do some other work to the pool area in the Dec(ish) thru Feb(ish) timeframe. The GCH is also set for some major changes but at this time the specifics have not been released other than to say they decided not to tear down and rebuild but will instead just remodel. You can get this info from WDWMAGIC website in their forums under rumors and news. Folks over there are really on top of every permit filed on property. COOL stuff:thumbsup2

DVC will be down the road after all of the other changes but again, no details other than not soon ;)

To help calm the OP, let's backtrack to what has been announced and is happening. What I'll be happening starting in November is a room refresh. They do these in about 6 yr intervals and it involves new furniture, carpets, wall paper etc. They close one building at a time and guests are not inconvenienced or notice it all. No building tear downs just new looks to the rooms. It will take about a year.

Nothing else has been confirmed and is just rumor at this point. DVC is not announced, work on the GCH has not been announced. Both may happen but then maybe not. Nothing's is known.
