We loved it. It's so much fun to see the animals. Even if you're not paying for a room with view of the animal areas, there are great public viewing areas. At the main one, the animals can come so close that you feel like you can touch them (but please don't :) ) There are also great viewing areas that are a little more secluded.

If you have any other questions about the AK lodge, I suggest checking out/asking questions on this thread.

loved it - great theming and restaurants. i also did the afternoon safari (with jiko dinner included) that is pretty expensive but i thought it was worth it.

here is a great website for more AKL information:

We loved AKL. The resort is beautiful and although it's out away from everything, it provides a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, IMO. We didn't think the bus transportation was bad at all since the buses only service AKL and Kidani. Have a great trip and enjoy AKL as it's a great resort :wizard:.

if you have small children and expect to spend a lot of time at the MK, it can be a long trip over and back from AKL. so while i love the theming personally, there are trade-offs. but having wildlife like giraffes and zebras outside your room is a really unique experience...

We enjoyed it...my DH more so than me.

It really is an amazing hotel visually. That and WL really got the theme down pat. However, the rooms are smal for the money that you are paying, IMO.

The view of the animals from the main viewing area and other spots are quite spectacular and the food areas are delicious, IMO.

The buses- meh, again IMO. And since that is your only option for transport...

Lots of kid-friendly things to do, however.

I prefer a little bit larger room but WL and AKL are the smaller of the deluxe room sizes so take this for what it is.

Have fun regardless.

I suggested for my friend's Disneymoon and they were thrilled. They had their own car, since they drove around, so they didn't mind being farther from most of the parks.

They were right near where the animals were released every morning, so they would sit out on their balcony with a cup of coffee and watch them go out on the savannah every day. They missed most evenings, because they were at dinner.

I could not find a bad thing with this resort! We were in Disney in June for 18 days and started out at SSR. Let me tell you SSR was awful and we demanded basically to be moved out of there after two incidents in two rooms. We got over AKL (Jambo) and it was amazing. The rooms are beautiful and savannah view makes even better. Food is great there too.
