Alamo - Sunpass

Does anyone know if Alamo has Sunpass already in the rental cars that you pickup at MCO, also how much they charge is they are in the car.

According to the Sunpass website Alamo charges $2/24 hour period plus tolls with a maximum of $6.00 per rental timeframe plus tolls. It also says that participation is automatic (so pass is installed in the car) when you use the Sunpass Only, Express, E-Pass Only or LeeWay Only Lanes. If you decide to go to the toll booth and pay cash you shouldn't be charged. Our daughter just paid the tolls when she rented from them in June and there was no charge for the Sunpass.

Alamo uses a type of PlatePass. There is no transponder in the vehicle. So if you have your own transponder you can just go through the express lanes and the toll will be charged to your transponder. If you don't have a transponder, you can still use express lanes but the system will register the license plate on the car and will identify it as an Alamo rental. You will be billed for the tolls based on what was outlined in the second post. If you wish to pay cash for tolls, you can also do so and avoid the extra charges from Alamo.

Just to clarify, you are only charged IF you use the Alamo/National toll by plate system. It is automatic, but, if you choose to pay with cash, you are not charged anything. It is NOT a Sunpass per se, it is a toll by plate system and we call it a Toll Pass.
