Ground Floor BLT

Anyone ever stay on ground floor? How is it? Can you walk out to pool etc?

Thx

You can't lock your patio door from the outside and most patios are surrounded by shrubbery. Not really supposed to use the patio exit to go anywhere but the patio.

There are no sheers. When I was at BLT in August, I thought those villas were very exposed to the outside. I was on the second floor, and liked that.

We always request ground floor...love it...I really like being able to just step outside to stretch my legs, catch a quick breeze, or meet returning family from the bus stop...the inability to lock up does prevent using the patio exit for spending time at the pool or heading over to the Contemporary for something to eat (unless you don't care about whether your villa is locked up!)...but I just really really like the quick in-and-out, w/out having to deal w/elevators...

It was particularly nice for watching the electric water parade...I could just step outside--and could see both the parade and my villa from just outside my patio...

I'm not a huge fan of the ground floor. I found that you couldn't leave your curtains open even just a little bit because of the foot traffic.

I would think that the ground floor villas would hear alot of the pool noise. We had a villa on the 10th floor, and couldn't use the balconies during the day due to the very loud pool noise.

This is what I'm worried about. I also worry that small critters like snakes, lizards and frogs can get into your room on the ground floor. I'm hoping we can be on the 2nd floor again when we check in Oct 2.

An advantage would be that you are significantly less likely to get "the view" (aka the guy across the "C" parading around clueless that the curtains are open). :scared: :rotfl2:

I've had green frogs 2-3 times in a VWL villa, 3-5 floor.:scratchin

I know what you mean! We had a ground floor 2BR at the Boardwalk. Opened up the slider when we first got there and a lizard ran under the sleeper sofa...that the kids were going to be sleeping on. We never saw the lizard again...and we never opened that slider again. :rotfl2:

we were up at the top BLT. black birds perched all along the roof there. just sitting there. it was creepy.

had a crab try to crawl into the car at VB. so bizarre.

little critters. :scratchin

We were just in 7138. I love the ground floor. Its so convenient and with a 16 month old no balcony to worry about . We had a patio facing the marina . I popped out to roast marsmallows with dd (dh was in the room). I wish i could always have this room - though sheers would help.

We had a studio here one time and I loved it. We would use the patio door to run over to the QS in the main building ( I was willing to chance not locking the patio) on the marina side there was very little traffic.

We stayed on the ground floor on the marina side in May and enjoyed it. There was less foot traffic than I would have expected so privacy was not much of an issue.

I went onto the patio once to read outside. When I was done I hoped that people walking on the nearby path didn't think I was there to watch them.

Been on the ground floor once and didn't like not being able to have the curtains open for some natural light. There was quite a bit of foot traffic walking by us.

Regarding someone earlier questioning whether there would be a lot of pool noise - we didn't notice any.

It is interesting to hear people opinions. We will be in a Standard 1 bedroom next June and I was hoping not to get ground level, but it does not sound that bad.;)

We were on the ground floor in a standard studio. We overlooked the bocci court, and over the fence was the pool. There was no foot traffic since there was no sidewalk, only our concrete patio. It was nice. We did not hear any pool noise. DH liked the fact that you could enter BLT thru the front door and not have to go in the elevator to your room. We had a rental car so we parked close to the BLT entrance.
