Mannheim Steamroller Holiday Concert

My family and I are going to be at Universal Dec 7,8 & checking out on the 9th. Just found out that Mannheim Steamroller is doing a holiday concert on the 8th and 9th.

For those of you that have been there during the Holiday festivities before -- where will this concert be held? Is it like at Epcot where you can sit down in an amphitheater? My DH has a hard time standing for long periods of time, so trying to figure out how this is going to work. We LOVE their music and would really like to hear them In case it matters -- we will be staying at the HRH.

It has been held at the Music Plaza stage in the past. That is standing room only. You can rent a wheelchair for him if he is not able to stand for a long period of time.

We were there last year and everyone sat down on the grassy areas after the concert began. This was after we were told that everyone would be standing up the whole time like every other concert held there.

Yeah, I went to almost every one of their performances last year and for the most part, people sat down. I was near the front and everyone up there usually sat down.

Get there early and sit back at Monsters Cafe outside. It's back a little but they have chairs and tables.

Last year I was surprised that there was no "get up and cram close to the stage and stand during the concert" activity like there was in previous years. I had a nice ground seat 20 feet from the stage. I think it was because they had several weekends of shows and not just one or two shows total. This spread the crowds out throughout the month. I expect that the same will happen this year. Shows on 8 different weekend nights in December is the most ever scheduled.

They've performed several Christmas concerts in Phx. Great show, especially in padded seats in an indoor arena.

I have to admit, this would be my preferred method of seeing them. BUT -- being in Florida and away from the East Coast cold will make up for that me thinks

But keep in mind that if you sit down, you are sitting on the floor. Not a seat. But like someone else mentioned, they have those outdoor chairs by Monsters Cafe.

If you're worried about sitting on the ground, you can probably fit a thin blanket in your suitcase to bring so you don't directly touch the ground. Alternatively, you could purchase those small pop-up seats that fold up. Those are also handy when waiting in line! (Of course, then there are those wonderful lockers....it's helpful to have a designated "bag holder" who doesn't ride those particular rides...)

Good suggestion -- now we just need to get DH to get the fold-up chair. You can start working on him

I've never seen anyone bringing in their own chair to sit on. This leads me to believe Universal has a policy banning them in the parks. If you do try to bring one in, you better be sure they will let you. It is a long walk back to the car or resort.

Actually, what she is talking about are the type that are canes that turn into a little stool kind of thing. Don't think we'd want to bring in an actual chair

Last year, the day I was there, everyone stayed sitting on the ground during the concert.

My family attended the Mannheim Steamroller concert at Universal back in December on Sunday December 18. We were in the section to the far right of the stage. We could see some of the stage but could hear it perfectly; and watched most of it on video screens. Didn't bother us too much; we had already seen Mannheim here in Las Vegas two other times. Everyone in our section sat in the grass.

However, when the concert started, in the section right in front of the stage, nearly everyone remained standing and blocked the view of the section behind them. There was a great deal of shouting from people in the section just behind them "Sit down! Sit down!" . . . and the security CMs and staff did absolutely nothing. After about 10 - 15 minutes, the people in the back gave up shouting and a lot of people just left after literally no one in the front sat down.

IMO, could have been handled much better.
