Wow...how did you agree upon a price and get it to ROFR on the same day? I started around the same time but still waiting. Went to ROFR on 8/7.

Well I would guess that both parties (buyer & seller) had the ability to receive emailed contracts and fax them back ASAP. The broker also had to be very on the ball to get the contracts out so quick.

Sounds like maybe your seller snail mailed the documents.

Well, our quick progress hit a bit of a snag. The cashier's check that I sent was apparently not signed by a bank officer. Luckily (?) I work for said bank, so hopefully they are going to work with the title company to get this resolved tomorrow AM. I will post back.

Did you consider having the funds wired instead of overnight'ing a cashier's check? The costs should be similar, no? That's what I'm planning to do, assuming the title company is ok with it.

The title company was charging an extra $15 to wire the funds and my bank charges $25, even for employees. The cashiers check was free and priority mail gets the check there next business day. For others, the cost may be close enough. Of course, immediate transfer would have avoided this hassle...

The cashier's check debacle was cleared up, so my paperwork is all set. Unfortunately, the seller also had an error in their paperwork, so I am still a few days away from closing. The wait continues! We leave for California on Friday, so hopefully we come back from vacation and have everything complete. I will let you all know how Carsland is!

Our timeline is finally complete,

June 27th - sent our offer for Saratoga Springs - 150 points
June 27th - Offer Accepted
June 27th - Recieved Contract and all other Paperwork
June 28th - Sent all paperwork back to the resale company
July 2nd - Seller sent his paperwork back
July 2nd - Contracts were sent to Disney for ROFR

The longest wait of my life.....

July 27th - I contacted the resale company to see if there was any word from Disney. They replied that it was in the final stages and we should hear on monday or tuesday.
July 30th - Approved by Disney
July 30th - Recieved paperwork from Disney (Closing Documents)
July 31st - Sent my money through a bank wire
July 31st - Disney recieved payment
August 3rd - Recieved Seller's paper work and Disney began working on my account set up and points transfer.
August 7th - My name showed up on Orange County website.
August 14th - Name is in Disney's system, no points yet.
August 15th - Account is set up and points added. First reservation is made, but Waitlisted.... so we wait some more....

Saratoga Springs 150 points plus 150 banked points (total 300 points for 2012) 65$ per point. Paid in full, no financing (which i hope everyone does).

Waiting is the hardest part of this adventure, especially when you know it has passed ROFR and you are waiting to get in the system.

We are very excited and hope our Waitlist pulls through (January 9th - 15th 2013)

Not quite sure why but I am still waiting for my information in the mail.. So for those waiting for the member number, you might want to call them as i did. I would still be waiting to make reservations and would most likely have not got the room I was on the waitlist for.

Curious if you've received your closing docs yet? I have a similar timeline and the same passing date and haven't seen anything yet.

July 27- Offer presented (100 pts @ OKW42)
July 27- Offer accepted
July 27- Contracts signed
July 30- Sent to ROFR
August 28- Passed ROFR

It took 10 days for me to get the closing docs emailed from the day we passed ROFR.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards App please excuse any typos.

Literally 30 seconds after I posted this, I got my email from TTS. :yay: They must have been watching... ;)

Looks like the ball is in my court now.

I received notification that we closed on 8/30, but still do not see my points when I log onto the website. I may call tomorrow to make sure that there are no issues with putting the points under the same login.

Noticed many getting their closing documents back within days. I got notice of ROFR on 8/28, so it has been 10 days now and nothing. Was told to check back next week. Which company were you with?

Here is our timeline so far for our first DVC purchase:

7/25 made offer
7/26 seller countered and we negotiated a bit and agreed
7/28 received contract, signed and returned with deposit check
7/30 sellers contract and ours received, sent to Disney for ROFR
8/28 received notice that we passed ROFR
9/5 received closing docs
9/10 mailed all docs and payment out to Title company

It seems that the seller is pretty on the ball, and we would have mailed our closing docs, etc back earlier but back to school week was so crazy!!!

Once the title company receives our package and sellers, how long does it take from there? We are close to our 11 month booking and keeping fingers crossed that b tefore the end of Sept., we will be able to book... What do you experienced folks think my chances are???

Once all the paperwork is in the title co can close immediately. The next business day they submit all the paperwork to the OC Comptroller for recording & notify Disney of the change in ownership. The sellers closing documents are a little bit more complicated as they need to get it notarized.

It takes about a week for member administration to process the change and get your membership number. As long as your sellers are indeed on the ball, I think it looks good to close and get your accounts set up before months end. :)

Here is my final timeline:
Offer made, counter, and agreed upon: 7/25
Contract sent to ROFR: 7/25
Disney waives ROFR: 8/13
Closing documents received: 8/17
Closing docs sent back to title company: 8/17
Fixed my snafu with the certified check: 8/21
Sellers fixed their issue with notary: 8/24
Notification of closing: 8/30
Sale appears on Orange County site: 8/30
Contact appears on DVCmember but no points: 9/8
All points available on DVCmember: 9/10

Note that this was an add-on and my resale company worked very hard to expedite where they could, due to points that are expiring on 11/30. Overall, it was a great experience and I am so happy to now own 300 points so we can take family with us on our Disney trips.
