Porto Elounda DeLuxe Resort, greece

It's a nice, comfortable hotel. Some had issues with the air conditioning on the first night but was taken care of the next night. It's a walk away from the beach. The bathroom is spacious and the balcony view is great. You have to stay in the lobby if you need wifi and it's a cab ride away from downtown, if you want to try a local restaurant or do some shopping. What are your concerns about the hotel?

This is a great hotel. Because it is 5 stars, you need reservations for most of the restaurants on the property and meal prices are high. We had one meal on our own while at Porto with ABD. Most people opted to eat at the resort instead of going into town. The buffet was 50 euros per adult and 33 euros for kids. I went to one of the restaurants and had pizza which was about 14 euros. As the PP said, you can go into town to eat and we were given several dining suggestions. We were told the cab ride would be about 10 euros each way.

The spa here(Six Senses Spa) is one of the top seven in the world. If you're going on the ABD Greek trip, you will have the option to book a spa treatment at your own expense. Several people did and I know mine was worth every penny.

mixed reviews on line. mostly good ones though. some of the bad ones say the hotel is a little dated.

I didn't find the resort dated at all. There are 3 or 4 resorts at Porto Elounda so you would need to know which resort they actually stayed at. The european hotels I have stayed at have all been contemporary and minimalist in design so the hotels aren't furnished the same way US ones are. The pictures on the Porto Elounda website are indicative of how the resort really looks. The bathroom is definitely updated with marble everywhere!

The main complaint that I saw online(tripadvisor) was about the price. People have to realize that it's a 5 star hotel and the restaurant & room pricing reflects it. ABD would not have approved the hotel if it was not up to Disney standards.

We were there in June with ABD--no complaints at all about the location or the resort (what a great view from our room!) I really liked the beach area--a 5 minute walk from the main building--nice cove, good for swimming and a beach area for play (and chairs/shade nearby, and a pool as well). We took a taxi into the town (about 9 euros each way)--a group of about 15 of us ended up in a guide recommended family restaurant on the far side of the small harbor, and it was a great meal, not expensive and a lot of fun. The town has some interesting shops--and gelato! (the resort on Santorini also had great views--but the hike to the nearby village was about 15 minutes, but it was much larger and had plenty to see/do/shop).

We were there with WeLoveABD and tufbuf. The resort is beautiful and our rooms were wonderful. For the 5 of us we had a 2 room suite. The kids room was a sort of regular hotel room. We shared a little foyer. Our room was a spacious hotel room with sitting area, 2 balconies, large bath (really large) and a long wide hallway with closets. Our group had AC problems, but these were fixed after the first night. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and this one was terrific. We were given a cable and so could use internet on our netbook in our room. iphones had to go out into the lobby to get a connection. We took a cab into town on the same night as the others, but went a while after everyone. For 5 people we had to split into 2 cabs. We found a great little restaurant on the water and it was reasonably priced. The hotel buffet was very expensive. We ran into the rest of our group and one of our kids shared a cab with a family of 3 to get back to the resort. It was well worth the cab fare.
The spa was an amazing destination and totally worth it. Not any more expensive than any other spa. Even if you don't have a treatment, get a tour.

I forgot to mention--there is a small gym (hard to find--you have to wind around several hallways and sets of stairs)--but the spa was just great, very up scale and artsy atmosphere, and relaxing. The breakfast area was also very nice--spread out, and the Greek yogurt (with available fresh fruits and other toppings) was great!
