November 17, 2012 TURKEY Cruise

Awesome! Thanks. I will definitely check out those links. We live in Winter Garden. A little south west of Orlando.

Yes! First time cruising. We have been trying to do this for about 4 years now. Life just kept getting in the way. So we are really excited. Just hoping I don't end up spending a lot of time by myself. :-)

Do you cruise often?

Do you cruise often?

Lucky you, living close to WDW! As soon as Dh retires (he is getting close to it), my dream is to move to Orlando.

Yes, we are big cruisers. It is very easy to do, living in Boca, close to the port in Fort Lauderdale. (We are between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.)

We've gone on 8 Holland America cruises, 6 Princess cruises, 3 Royal Caribbean cruises (the last one being on the huge Oasis of the Seas), and 7 Disney cruises, and on a couple of other misc. cruise lines. We cruised the Caribbean many times, cruised in Hawaii, thru the Panama Canal and 4 times in Alaska. We love it! We cruised on the Disney Dream for a 5 nighter this past March and we loved the ship, so we can't wait for the Fantasy. I also want to sail on the Allure of the Seas.

It will be exciting for your 1st one - you'll be hooked, I'm sure. How old are your children? We don't have kids, but the kid's programs on DCL are supposed to be fantastic.

One neat thing we never miss is sailaway. DCL CMs at the port will be there to wave to you and the ships horn will blow. Don't want to spoil the surprises, but be sure to be out on one of the open decks, facing the port, for it!

And, Pirates's night is a lot of fun. Disney is the only cruise line that has fireworks at sea! Love it!

The Disney shows at night are 1st class Disney all the way. They are Broadway type productions that you can't miss.

Have you been over to the main DCL DIS thread? Lots of questions and anwers over there:
http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=9

Have you signed up for our Meet & Greet? It is a nice way to put faces to names and have friends on the ship to run into! If you think of any questions, don't hesitate to ask. And, if I can't answer, someone will be able to. Ask away!

Page 1 of this thread has the list of names on the roll call and a link to this cruise's Facebook page. (I don't do Facebook.) This thread has been kinda quiet lately but things will pick up. It's September 1 - it won't be long now! :hyper:

Last call to join our FE exchange. I will be finalizing the list tonight. I had some last minute additions. Sorry for not getting it out on the 30th like I had promised. I had knee surgery on the 29th and have not been feeling to well.

Thanks, for understanding!!

Hope your knee is feeling better! It will probably take time. Hopefully you'll be good as new for the cruise and doing some of this: :cool1:

Get well soon.

Dh and I don't do the FE, hope you guys understand. But, we would like to go to the Meet & Greet.

Hey everyone, I spoke to Kristin and she is sending out the FE list tomorrow. If you want to add, and you haven't yet gotten your name to her, do it now!

Beth

Finished my FE gifts this morning. They are all packaged up and ready to go. I made 25 of them even tho we discussed doing only 20 but figured I'd do a few extra just incase the break down of the list turns out more per each FE group. :goodvibes

Hi,

I was going over the final FE list and noticed I did not have your information. Could you please send me your last name, Dis Name, names of everyone in your cabin, email address and your cabin number?

Thanks, once I get your information I will send it out to everyone. Thanks,,

Thanks, the knee is soar tonight. The cruise is part of the reason that I rushed to have it done before the end of summer. So I will be as good a new for the cruise.

OurDogCisco, I have you listed as a GTY could you please send me your cabin number so I can have the updated FE list all sent out. Thanks,

Thanks for noticing my info got lost over the months. :thumbsup2
I sent you a private message with my info. :surfweb:
Hate to have made all that stuff and not have DISers to give it to. :goodvibes

Wow! So, coming from someone who has never cruised before, I would say that your cruise history puts a new meaning to the phrase "big cruisers". :) I am certain that my kids and I will love it. We all love the water, ocean, boats/ships. I will be sure to be on an open deck during the sailaway. And would definitely be interested in the Meet and Greet. This will be my kids and my first time vacationing alone, so it would be nice to have some others to hang out with.

We actually live about 2 miles from the employee parking for Magic Kingdom. We can watch the fireworks every night from our living room. :woohoo: The kids really love this about house. Unfortunately, we don't get to the parks that often. They are building like crazy around us now. Still time to get a place close to WDW. :)

My kids are 7, and 10 (11 on Friday). This page was recommended to me so that I could try to find some others with kids the same age. I had tried to get a friend of mine to come along, but the price was a little to steep. My kids can be quite social when they want to be. But it would be really nice to have some new friends for them to pal around with. Not to mention the fact that while they are doing their thing, I'm left to fend for myself. I can be quite social too, but it's always nice to have a head start. :)

Looking forward to 11/17!!! :yay:

Sounds like you live exactly where I want to live! :thumbsup2

Have you signed up for any shore excursions? And, once the balance is paid, you can do your on-line check-in. The sooner you do it the better, as you have to choose a check-in time from what is available. The sooner you get on the ship, the sooner the fun begins! :cool1:

Also, if you or your kids are pin traders, be sure to bring some traders on the ship. CMs in the gift shops and around the ship wear lanyards and trade pins. There is an officer pin trading night where you get to trade with the officers. Dh and I are both into pin trading and always have fun trading on the ship.

If all goes as planned, we are going to WDW for Veteran's Day weekend which is a couple weeks before the cruise. :hippie:

Hi,

I would love to live where you live that is our dream some day. Just wish that DH had a job down in Orlando!!

I have twin girls that are 10. If anyone wants to have their children email my daughters.

The FE list has been emailed out this evening!!

We have not yet signed up for any shore excursions. Still trying to figure a lot of this stuff out. My balance will be paid this week, so I imagine I will be doing a lot of the planning once that is complete.

My kids haven't really had the chance to start trading pins. I'm sure though, that given the opportunity, they would probably like it. Maybe something we could start on this trip.

Will you be hitting all the parks when you're here? Or just a few favorites? I promised the kids we would go to Magic Kingdom in December. We have never been to any of the parks at Christmas time. They are really excited. :yay:

The only problem with living where I live, is that Disney (while still awesome) doesn't have the same "WOW" factor as it does for those who live further away. Don't get me wrong though, it's still cool. And I still love it. :)

If I had to wager a guess, I would say that my daughter would love to email yours. She loves to meet new people, and I'm sure she would appreciate some new friends to hang out with.

Pin trading can get expensive. If you ever have any interest, go to one of the Disney outlet stores in Orlando and get a few discounted pins to use as traders.

If you haven't been to WDW for Christmas, you have to do it! Actually, all the holiday festivities start over Veteran's Day weekend, when we are going. Disney does Christmas like no one else!! We go to all the parks and a lot of the resorts to check out the decorations. We really like the Osborne Festival of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios. :santa:

So, I totally forgot to do my MIL online check-in and port excursions until this morning. She has never cruised before so, I couldn't do any of her stuff until the 75 day mark. Anyways, I was surprised that for online check-in that the 11:30 to 12 slot was still available. We got 11 to 11:30 am since we are Gold. I was expecting she'd have a way later time. So, I guess, not that many people have finished their online check-in information stuff or they don't know how to do it :confused3.

Anyways, I was even able to get all her excursions as well. Now, I just have to link our dining room reservations.

They were sold out of Palo Brunch. She also wanted a spa treatment and they only had a few slots availabe for Absolute SPA Ritual. They only had 8 am, 5 pm and 8 pm slots available on port days (but sold out on Castaway Cay day). Luckily, one of her excursions doesn't start until 12:15 pm so, I was able to get the 8 am time.

We also bought bag of pins on Ebay. However, sometimes you get a "bad" pin in the bag that CMs won't accept but not too often.
