Anyone use Sparkle Skirts or Team Sparkle?

I just bought the Turquoise Peacock design from Sparkle Skirts at the Disney expo. They were pricey, but after running the Half in them this morning I would buy another two pairs in a heartbeat! The pocket was perfect to keep my camera in (for easy access), and I still used my Spibelt (for ID, car key, Blocks, and to keep an extra Clif gel that they hand out at mile 9). They worked perfectly fine together.

There was also a sample Evil Queen (from Snow White) skirt on display at the Expo that they were taking pre-orders for. It was so fabulous, black skirt, purple panel in front, and a long red rope belt with jewel, so be on the lookout for that one to hit the website!

I bought a Team Sparkle skirt at the Tink expo, but I still haven't found decent shorts to wear under them so it hasn't even made it out of the bag yet :(

does anyone have one of the sparkle skirts slim cut skirts? According to the chart I am in between a medium and a large with waist measurements, but I wear a 6/8. How slim are they really running? I am thinking of going with the medium, and I guess I could always exchange if I need to...

Are you talking about the Sparkle Light ones that don't have shorts underneath? My experience is that they run true to size. I got a small and although the 4/6 size designation would be a bit big, I usually do wear a small, so it was good for me. I would suggest going with the medium, because chances are, if you keep up with running, you will be getting smaller anyway and won't have to buy another skirt. :goodvibes

I don't have any with the shorts underneath. I choose to wear it over my compression tights.

No, the slim cut--with shorts built in. One of them is a pirate theme. I wear a small in runningskirts and sports skirts, but my waist falls at the high end and the slim cut are supposedly cut smaller...just wondered if anyone had tried one. I don't think I will get any smaller, I have just never had a real waist--more like a rectangle than a curve.:goodvibes

here's what it looks like:

I think she calls it "athletic cut" on the Facebook feed, which may be why people are confused. It's the Pirate Tech and Naughty School Girl and a few others. You can always email Leah. She's super nice and will answer everything in a pretty decent time.

Got it. That is why I was confused by the term. I agree that Leah is very nice and is extremely helpful and will e-mail you back. I am not sure about the fit of the shorts as I haven't tried them yet. She did have a lot of new cute patterns at the Disneyland Expo!

I worked the booth Saturday so I may have seen some of you! As for the pirate and naughty schoolgirl, they are slim or athletic cut. For most people a size larger is appropriate. Everyone that usually wore the medium sparkle skirt ended up getting the large in those two styles. Hope that helps.

I have both and love them both. Both companies....owners...super nice to deal with and have GREAT customer service.

Team Sparkle....
Lightweight shell to wear over something wth no pocket. The cut is a drop waist with a little fullness below that. I LOVE that I can wear it over shorts, bike style shorts, capris, or long leggings. Its SO light weight and easy to position where you want to wear it. Tiny for packing as well. Cheaper than the sparkle skirts by a little. I have 2 and tried to make one myself, but its easier for me to just buy it as its not that much $$ IMO. I always get compliments when I wear to a race. Last year at the Princess the weather was up in the air and the night before was deciding whether to wear shorts, capris or leggings.....it was great to know that with my TeamSparkle, I was covered with any of these options. Team Sparkle is out of CA I THINK and was not at the expo.....but she ran the race and hand delivered a skirt to my room!

Sparkle Skirts
I do not have the Sparkle Light - I have the Sparkle Tech. I splurged and saved my $$ for the last expo and got the picasso pink skirt. I was running as Mulan and actually wored the Sparkle skirt....with a Red Team Sparkle on top . It worked out great with my costume. As for the sparkle tech, that thing is da bomb! I broke a race rule, bought it at the expo and wore it for the last 1/2 - without washing. I talked to Leigh the owner in the booth AND a volunteer at her booth, a marathon runner who swore by them. I have chafing issues iwth the thighs, and let me tell you, those shorts stayed put! The pockets were handy as well. I have since purchased another - patriotic theme for a 4th of july 10k and will wear it on Thanksgiving for a 10k, and am thinking of saving my pennies again for a plain one to wear when training on my long runs....I mean I could wear my pink or patriotic, but would love to have a plain one too.

Bottom line think about what you are looking for, look at the styles and go from there. Both cuts are flattering on most - just about everyone. If you are tall, I think Sparkle Light is a tad longer, I am not tall so not an issue for me.

I will have to look into the tech skirts. There are so many options now. But, I think those are the only two that have the flashy fabric.

Another fan of Sparkle Skirts here. I bought one of the light ones in gold for my costume for the princess. It now goes to Zumba classes with me ;-) It was a fine skirt for my costume but there are no pockets so in that way, they are like the Team Sparkle ones.

THEN I bought a Sparkle Tech in May to wear for summer races and O.M.G is that skirt fabulous. It is now my favorite skirt. And I have a skirt from Running Skirts, Skirt Sports, and a couple of Target ones. The others work okay, but this Sparkle Tech is hands down my favorite. The shorts never ride up or chafe. The pockets are big enough that I don't need my belt. I can carry my big droid phone, some sports beans, my key and my id or credit card. I love that skirt. I want another but not sure that I need it.

Leah is super sweet too. Highly recommend her product.

Are the skirts longer than the ones at Target? They seem that way from the website, but I'm not sure.

They are cut differently with the target being a little more snugger on the hips and stopping higher on the thigh. The Sparkle skirts until recently didn't have an a-line shape so there's a little more bounce, length, and looseness to the skirts and just length in the shorts (though Leah has started doing some A lines and I have no idea how those fit).

I wish they'd come out with some more solid-color skirts. They used to have a royal blue and aqua...now the only solid colored one is black. A dark grey or something like that would be nice. :confused3

That is where running skirts, and other similar non-sparkly brands seem to do a lot better. But, both Team Sparkle and Sparkle Skirts seem to target the Disney race market, so that is what is popular when you go to Disney.

What problems did people have with Running Skirts or Sport Skirts? I haven't tried either yet, but like some of their designs too.

Yeah, I figured. I just sent Leah (head of SparkleSkirts) an email asking about solid-colored ones...we'll see what she says.

I haven't tried Running Skirts or Sport Skirts...the good thing about these brands is that I think you can find them on runningwarehouse.com on clearance from time to time. I tried a Nike running skirt a long time ago and the undershorts didn't stay put. SparkleSkirts have been better for me.

I like both my Running Skirt and SportSkirt but they're not my favorite skirt. Like I said, my Sparkle Tech is my favorite now that I own it. Before then, my Running Skirt was my favorite. Both the shorts still ride up a little and that has never happened with my Sparkle tech. I also just like the bigger pockets in my Sparkle Tech. I never need a belt with them. The other two are fine, but I like SparkleSkirts (the tech ones) better. Maybe they just fit my body type best. But those shorts under the Sparkle Techs really are compression shorts. They don't move.

My Minnie Sparkle Tech is my favorite skirt. However, I only wear it for races and wear my Target C9 skirts for training. I do plan to buy some plan Sparkle tech because I love the pockets/ storage.

DH let me use our date money for this month to buy a sparkle skirt. I have never had one before and I just had to have one after reading some reviews from runners on here. It was going to be 72 + shipping and came out to 94 and change. Anyway....I ordered it last night with 2nd day ups to make sure it would arrive in time for the Disney Marathon. This morning I received a call from "Tom" of SparkleTech. He said that he noticed that I was in Alabama, and that my skirt should arrive Friday or Saturday(since they are in FL) with regular shipping. He was calling to let me know that they would be crediting 16-17 dollars back to my card since I didn't need the 2nd day ups. That was very nice! After hearing all the good things about these skirts I love the company even more. They really do appear to be looking out for the customer!

I just purchased an Aqua SparkleSkirt for the 2013 marathon. I've only tried it on around my house, but I found it to be perfect for Disney, with lots of bounce and of course sparkle.

I chose to just order the skirt, not the tech-skirt with the shorts underneath, mainly because I am very picky about what I wear as shorts.

I found a pair of UA Compression underwear which I plan on wearing rather than normal spandex shorts- they look just like normal spandex (with about 4 inches of fabric on legs)not underwear, but the seams are placed much differently so that no uncomfortable chafing occurs. I wore them yesterday for an 8 mile run and they didn't ride up one bit- or chafe.. which was great!

Hope this helps :)

That is awesome! I'm considering ordering one of the peacock skirts...hmm.

I just read on their Facebook page that if you order a skirt for marathon weekend they will HAND DELIVER it to your Disney resort. How awesome is that?!

I thought there was a way to just pick the skirt up at the Expo or through your resort. Definitely a nice feature. I didn't even look at the program to see if they were going to be there.
