Hello and welcome!

We have just returned from our Disney Vacation (like 4 hours ago) and I cant wait to share our families reviews! We were blessed with a Free DDP :thumbsup2 and got to experience some of the Food Magic Disney has to offer.

I am a PhotoBucket virgin so please bare with me while I figure this all out!

First, let me start by introducing our own Party of Five (I loved hearing this at all of our reservations, I loved that show and still have a huge crush on Matthew Fox but... I digress).:offtopic:

There is me (Emelie). I am 26, a teacher, Canadian and a Vegetarian. I also love food, different food, traditional food. I love to cook as well (not bake, I like my idol Rachel Ray couldnt measure if my life depended on it).

Then there is my parents. My mum (Joan) and dad (Jeff). My dad is a meat eater - steak, burger... basic fare I suppose. He is not an adventurous eater by any stretch of the imagination - prefers his food simple and well done.

My mum is middle of the road. She likes food and will give anything a try usually.

We also travelled with my sister Amber (12) and meet the Queen of Chicken Nuggets. If you were to look up picky eater in the dictionary Amber's picture would appear. She likes Chicken Nuggets and Chicken Nuggets and dont forget, you guessed it... Chicken Nuggets. Will have to stay tuned to see if we were successful in our search for those little round circles and if the Queen expanded her palate.

Lastly, the youngest of the party. Jett (6). Jett is, well....Jett is a typical 6 year old eater I suppose. One meal he may eat and eat and eat; the next he eats a grape. He likes food and will eat more than his sister but is not a fan of anything slimy or many meats.

Well that describes us, hoping I have not already bored you. Looking forward to sharing our DDP Experience! Cheers!

I'm here reading. Looking foward to your reviews. We LOVE to eat at DW! We do tend to eat in our tried and true favorite places though so I'm poking around looking for different places we can try.

sounds like an interesting group..
we did this once with a vegetarian, two on ww diets, two kiddos (but will eat most anything) and a senior citizen and hubby and myself..
Trying isnt it...

Welcome aboard! I think I have now figured out how to attach the photos but still trying to work out how to make links to the specific reviews from the list. Hmmm...

I'm in !! Looking forward to reading !! And I am also Matthew Fox fan which means I am a HUGE Lost fan, as I assume you are as well. I miss it very much !!

So lets get started with some Disney treats! The plan was to use some snacks around the world in Epcot but it was SO hot the day visited that we literally sprinted through World Showcase grabbing a photo or two.

With our snack credits we used some through our trip and then saved a bunch for the way home and a couple for school snacks since my sister and brother start up this week.

So with out further ado I present SUGAR (err snacks).

Dole Whips
Although we did not eat these until our last day (despite staying at the Poly, I know, I know) I figured they deserved the #1 spot! My mum and I both ordered these and they lived up to their expectations. Mine was pure pineapple and my mums was pineapple and vanilla.
They were perfect, just the right amount of tang and stayed solid despite a walk back to our room in the Florida humidity. I would highly recommend and regret not eating 10 of them!

While we are on Frozen treats I will add some that we got from a snack cart at MK (they are all over the place but we got ours near Splash Mountain).
One Mickey Head, Two of those Multi-Coloured Popsicles and Two Dole Pineapple Pops. All were delish and very refreshing on a hot day!

Alright one more Cold treat before I grab some lunch (all this looking at food is making me hungry). On our last night my mum and dad grabbed a Cherry Eclipse Frozen Drink from The Lunching Pad while my siblings and I rode Space Mountain. When we returned we all grabbed a sip. Everyone but my sister and I seemed to like it. I found it a little to tart but that being said I dont really like cherries so I guess I am bias. It was nice and refreshing though I am told and my dad, who loves the fruit, said it was great!

Oh Lost do not get me started, I loved Lost and miss it dearly! Another Matthew Foxy (err Fox) fan, welcome and enjoy!

If anyone has any comments, questions drop them my way. I am totally new to this so looking forward to re-living Disney through food :goodvibes
Had a sub last night and a pizza for lunch and so missing Disney food... I think I may have to jump on over to allears and try out some Disney recipes!

Have been to Disney aout 5 times and have never tried a dole whip. You bet I will the next trip.

Welcome new followers! Yes, you have to try Dole Whips - they are heaven in a cup ;)
We did enjoy those sweet treats; we definately all have a sweet tooth, that is something we all agree on!

So here are the remaining snacks. Enjoy!

The one snack we all wanted to try while in the World were Mickey Head Pretzels and although I did not manage to snag a picture I googled and came up with these. My brother and I had the typical pretzel - we both enjoyed and had to save for later as they were so filling. I wish I would have got the cheese sauce as I think that would have added a little extra but still yummy none the less. They had just the right amount of salt and were not too hard. The rest of the crew got the Mickey Pretzel with cream cheese in them. Again, they were winners! The cream cheese was still warm and gooey and the my mum thought it was a nice option for those not as fond of the saltiness of a typical pretzel.

We used our remaining snacks for drinks in the park (those are not too exciting pictures) and snacks to bring home. They include; Disney Swirl Lolipops, Mickey Head Crackers, Minnie and Pluto Cookies, Mickey Head Rice Krispie Treat, a Mickey Head Honey-Gingerbread-esque aka the Best, Most Delicious Cookie ever (Amber's description) and Chocolate Coins in the shape of Mickeys Head. All of these snacks look yummy and the ones we have had were good! The Mickey chocolate coins were well, chocolate coins - nothing too exciting but decent.

Well, hope that gave you a little sugar rush :hyper:

Joining in! :surfweb: Your choices sound like a lot of fun, especially with all those snack credits! I could really go for one of those cream cheese pretzels right about now!

So I will not bore you with the details of McDonalds. That food does not earn a full post or pictures. We had McD's the night before our flight (got our whole meal for under $15 near Detroit airport) and then had lunch at the airport. I lied because the adults had food from... the name escapes me but it is a popular restaurant in the US (at the airport). My dad had wings and my mum and I shared a artichoke dip with fried chips - both were actually very yummy. :thumbsup2

Alright, now onto what you readers are looking for, DISNEY FOOD!

So Day 2 was our first park day. We managed to get to the Polynesian around noon (after some "issues" with the outside of Disney hotels transportation). We checked in, went to our room and then got going. Our first day would be in the Magic Kingdom.

We grabbed lunch at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe and it was a decent meal. I did not get pictures of everyones food as my mum and I couldnt find everyone else in the crowd. We eventually did meet up with them but they were almost done their meals. They had all ordered Chicken Nuggets. My sister and dad enjoyed their (they ordered from the adult menu) but Jett hated his! He ordered from the kids menu and his chicken were these round little hockey puck like things. He ended up eating fries and sharing some of my sisters nuggets. Note: If you are on the DDP you can order from the adult menu for kids (at the counter service restaurants) - they just take a credit off, are not specific to kids or adults.

My mum and I ordered burgers. My mums was the 1/3 pound Bacon Cheeseburger and mine was the Vegetable Burger (actual veggies, not soy, which was the same throughout Disney - at least the burgers that I had). Both burgers were quite yummy and I loved the topping bar (your basic lettuce, tomato and condiments but also fried mushrooms, onions and cheese sauce). The cheese sauce was good, used for the fries since they were quite bland but it went cold really quickly.
For dessert we had the chocolate cake and carrot cake. Both were good, nothing to sing praises about but good.

Dinner
At dinner we ventured to the Grand Floridian for 1900 Park Fare. We loved the character interaction (especially Lady Tremaine and Anastasia; Cinderella and Prince Charming were eh...). The food however did not blow us away. We only grabbed a couple of pictures; a lot of the food was cold and there were no Chicken Nuggets (despite every menu we looked at saying there was). So Amber ate a bun with butter and about 6 fries. For the meat eaters there was the typical fares (chicken and I think a roast) - I am told both were pretty bland. Veggie options for me were few and far between (the salad bar was pretty good mind you). The dessert bar was good as well but didnt have a ton of options.
Overall, we would recommend for the characters but I wouldnt go out of my way for the food.

Next up Day 3 and the Sci-Fi for some out of this world dining!

We did not care for the dinner at 1900 park fare either. We do eat at Cosmic Rays on every trip and I always get the roasted chicken. I love it.
