BOG for Thanksgiving

Think there's ANY chance they will have a Thanksgiving menu or do you think since it will be soooo new, it will just be what's on the menu? None of the food sounds good to me (lol, and I'm usually not picky), but I really wanted to eat at BOG. The ONLY ressie I could get was Thanksgiving dinner. I'm wondering if I should just cancel it and try to eat there for lunch one day on our trip (though I'm sure it will be crazy busy, blah!!!)??? I really wanted a more traditional Thanksgiving dinner for our family, though I know it's not the end of the world. I keep trying and trying, thinking someone will cancel their ressies and we can get one for the day I really wanted on our trip, BUT since so many (including me) didn't have to reserve with a cc, I'm guessing that lessons the chance of people actually cancelling, kwim?

If none of the food sounds good to you, then why do you really want to eat there? It's a French inspired menu, and turkey doesn't really fall into that category! Highly doubtful that they will alter the menu!

The thyme scented pork dish or the shrimp & scallops & mushrooms in puff pastry really call out to me!

Have to agree with the PP. Why would you book an ADR if you don't like anything on the menu? If you absolutely must see what the inside of the place looks like, go in for an afternoon dessert (after peak lunch hour) while the CS is still open.

Good luck finding an ADR for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at this point. Hopefully you'll be lucky and a cancellation will open up at LTT.

ETA: Just a side note. I was just over visiting MousePlanet and they are reporting that BOG is completely sold out- every single ADR is booked from opening through New Years Day.

We are eating there because my dd really wants to and that's the only ADR I could get. We have a backup that's been booked three months so no need to wish me luck!! I knew some of the restaurant did a traditional Thanksgiving so that's why I asked. No need to act like it's such an absurd question, lol.

What a shock, snotty Type-A posters on the disboards...when I first joined in 2005, people were chill & supportive, but the majority of the posts now have snotty comments, know-it all comments, the snotty icon used as an insult after comments, etc...I just thought Disney fans were cool and chill, but now I am thinking otherwise.

Your question was NOT absurd...it is 100% logical and possible that there will be a Thanksgiving menu.

Also, do people really think the thousands of ADR's from Nov 19 to NYE are going because of the food? People were making ADR's like loonies due to wanting to see BOG's interior and wanting to say they went there...there is no mind-boggling food anywhere in WDW, at least not to people from major cities like NY, LA, Chicago, etc that have awesome restaurants. I'm sure like 90% of the ADR's are curiosity-seekers. I'd go, too, if BOG was open during my visit, but not for the menu. I say go....you can always make a traditional Thanksgiving meal at home when you return. I think the atmosphere would make you feel festive, but that is just me. Have a magical trip!

Snotty? Really?? Explain to me why asking someone why they would make an ADR for a restaurant where there is nothing on the menu that they want to eat is snotty?? If you read my second sentence, you will see that I recommended that if she ONLY wanted to go to BOG to see what the place looked like, she should go after peak hours and just have a dessert (or snack, or whatever). Sheesh. Talk about snotty..... And do you really think that a brand new restaurant still in soft opening and trying to get things running smoothly is going to dump their fledgling menus for a special traditional Thanksgiving dinner??? Dream on.

As for it being "100 percent logical" that BOG would have a special Thanksgiving menu. I say there 0 chance there's a special menu. Soft opening starts just days prior to Thanksgiving. The ADRs are completely sold out already. So what would motivate Disney to create a costly and labor-intensive change in their brand new menu in a restaurant that will be in Day 4 of its soft opening?

What about the dessert menu? Maybe you could just eat dessert there, and eat dinner elsewhere?

If I was in your position with only one night to possibly do BoG with the desire for a turkey dinner, I'd do BoG on Thanksgiving, and try to schedule turkey for a different night of my trip. I'm probably not the best person to ask though, because I skipped Thanksgiving dinner entirely last year.

My question stemmed from your original post, no where did it state that it was your daughter who "really" wanted to eat there! Hence my question, why would you want to eat there if nothing appeals to you! The question isn't obsurd, your reaction to it is and quite un-necessarily so! I wish you the very best of luck with BOG and/or your turkey dinner! May you and your family have the very best of Thanksgiving, and please relax, and don't read into this statement anything more than what it's intended to be!

Got to say that there is currently no way to know right now whether or not BOG will have a traditional Thanksgiving option.

So if the menu doesn't appeal, at this point all you can do is weigh your daughter's desire to eat there against the fact that you'd prefer a different menu. From the BOG stuff that is currently released I don't know if just ordering dessert is an option. They seem to have dessert included with the entrees.

Folks, please don't turn this thread into an argument. Nobody's gone against the guidelines here. Yet.

I guess that's why I stay home for Thanksgiving...I just have to have the traditional meal. Of course the fact that my family all come home for it makes a difference too.

As for your situation, OP, I think you got some great suggestions that can maybe please your daughter and you. Esp. the one about going off time for dessert. I'm always all for dessert! An early CS meal would be a good compromise, then go where you have your dinner ADR for your more traditional Thanksgiving meal. Hope it works out.

And if it makes you feel any better, I didn't sense any negativity in any previous posts. A lot can get lost in translation in this sort of communication.

Um, sorry, but my reaction was not unnecessarily absurd! LOL All I said was my daughter really wants to eat at this restaurant and that I have a backup.

People, I asked a simple question. There really is no reason to get your panties all in a wad over it!!! Hahaha! Goodness! If you don't know the answer, simply move on! No need to get so upset over the small things!!!!!
