It's NEVER Too Late, for Number 8 - the most UNOFFICIAL, 'official' AKL thread yet!

We're going over to Universal one day and I am also thinking about surprising my mom with a trip over to check out The Holy Land Experience. Anyone been? Hard to find? Worth the trip? We'll have a rental car and my mom's ECV.

We went a few years ago. I am a Christian, DH is not, but we both enjoyed it. The model of Jerusalem is amazing and the whole themeing is pretty impressive. We went from International Drive and went on the bus. I don't think you have trouble finding it. It is also not too far away from the Mall at Millennia so maybe you can combine the two.

.....he might want to sleep in the top bunk so he doesn't feel so claustrophobic....

Our concern is his height - the top bunk looks to be closed in all around, so I'm guessing that would be worse. It looks like the end of the bottom bunk might be open? Is the ladder movable so maybe we could move it to the side of the bunks giving him a bit more foot room?

Does anyone know if we can get a cot or would have room for an air mattress?

Thanks!

....I honestly can't remember - it's been quite a while since we were in a bunk room....:confused3

I have used an air mattress - I just put it up by the door - so it is out of the way of everyone - so I didn't get stepped on at night.

I can tell you that our experience with this at Great Wolf Lodge was TERRIBLE! DS13 is 5'11" and couldn't sleep in the bunk bed at all!!! His head and feet touched the closed in parts at the top and bottom. He ended up sleeping on the lumpy pull out sofa. I think I'd call AKL and request a cot. I wouldn't want to take a chance. If you see that you don't need it you can always get them to take it away. The customer service there is SOOOOO WONDERFUL. :lovestruc

 Well I think its not in the cards for April :( The flights are just too high because all or Southern New England is on spring vacation and DH doesn't want to go again in the summer.

Afternoon J's & K's - hope everyone is well.

Well, we're all battoned down and pretty much ready to go......... I hope Isaac fizzles, but not gonna hold my breath. My hope is that for us at least, that it doesn't move anymore to the west - that'll be BAD for us - basically we'd be on the "wrong" side - like Gustav - yeah, that's the one where we lost the roof to our house!!! I didn't sleep at all last night, for some reason, I'm worried about this storm. Anyway, I hope anyone else in it's path stays safe. I just feel horrible today, stressed and a migraine and just waiting........... lol -- and my ex mother in law passed about 15 min. ago - she was a lovely person who was always good to me. Sad day!!

 Hope everyone is staying safe and so sorry to hear about your ExMIL

Page 1 states that valet parking is only 10.00 is that correct? I thought is was 12.00 at the other resorts, is AKL cheaper?

Brandi, could you please amend my details on the list?

November 10th to 17th Disney Magic
November 21st to 27th Old Key West

The stay at the Boardwalk is remaining as planned.

Corinna

This sounds like lots of fun! and you have been amended

one more question, when should you put in your request for a room on a specific trail - I know it isn't guaranteed but I have a pool view and would like to be on zebra trail instead of giraffe.

.....usually the best time to put in a request would be on a Friday afternoon....

I am not going until December - so any Friday afternoon? Do I call reservations? I have never requested anything special before so this is new to me.

I just know that if you walk on the zebra trail to your room you get the viewing windows - so since I am not staying a savannah view room this is a little peek of the savannah each time we go to the room for my friends that have never stayed there before.

I need help/information...

We are checking in Friday for the weekend, standard room, club level, and we have requested bunk beds for DS17 and DD12.

However, DS is questioning whether he will fit in the bunk beds - he's just over 6 feet tall - will he?!

If not, can we get a cot or bring an air mattress?? Is there enough room?

What if we end up with two queens instead of the bunkbeds... will we have room for a cot or air mattress so DD & DS don't have to share a bed?

Unless things have changed, he will fit, just (at least on the bottom).

I'm 6 ft 3, and I climbed in there a few years ago, just to see if I could fit. It was tight, but I could do it.

Not sure if I could manage on the top, where the footboard is a little more intrusive.

That's the way I remember them.

Now...I didn't have to sleep there, so I'm not sure exactly what would happen with the ladder and my feet. I could've ended up kicking the thing all night long.

But I fit, very slightly kitty corner (which is typical for any twin sized bed for me).

That was our LAST trip to AKL before DVC...about 5-ish years ago. Can't believe it's been that long!
