Mama melrose.. Angry servers?

I've been reading ALOT of reviews for mama melrose having bad servers. This sucks cause I have a ADR there for my parents anniversary. There is 5 of us and I'm paying so I don't want it anywhere super pricey now I don't know what to do
 
I am a little worried also - we have it booked for a F! dinner pkg. Since I don't want to use up 2TS, I figured it was the best of the rest of them.
 
hmm... I'm not sure about the server situation but I'm curious why you picked MM?
Are you all Italian food fan? Or is it because you are scheduled to be in HS that day?
I'm just thinking there are other restaurants that has better or at least a more favorable consistent reviews throughout the resorts.
Just curious why you picked MM....
 
Actually, we have been there several times and love it! Food was good, servers very nice, not too noisy, very relaxing. Not sure why this place always gets such bad reviews, we have never had a problem with either food or service. But, I am sure after my post you will get a hundred horror stories about it. :rolleyes:
 
we saw a lot of tired, annoyed and overall VERY poor servers when we were there in November. Honestly, the vaunted 'disney service' doesn't extend to their waitstaff in their restaurants. I've been either food or cocktail server myself for over a decade, I am not difficult to please and tend to be very lenient and forgiving when eating out. . but several of our experiences had even me going 'are you KIDDING???' . . it's because we were a party of six, their tip was assured, so they really did not care if we were happy or not. Which really was only screwing themselves because I usually tip well more than 18% for very good service. . .but they don't care, they'll take the 18% and just slip-slide through.

Next trip we will be a party of four for the majority of our trip. I hope the service is better. . .I will be a lot more willing to speak to the manager next time, or write complaints to the appropriate department if we get crappy service.

Being a party of 6 has nothing to do with having good service or bad service. Tips are NOT assured. One word with the manager and the 18% would have been removed.
 
We go to MM every trip and have had excellent service, or at least good service. Never had bad service with them. They get a bad rep on the boards, but we will continue to go!

others on this board have posted that even speaking to the manager did NOT get the tip removed. .. so yes, it's assured unless they do something VERY out of line. .. .We had a few good servers, but the majority just seemed tired, burned out and didn't want to be there. . .

we are trying all different restaurants this next time, so I am hopeful that it goes better. . .although one night is at O'hana and I keep hearing over and over that
their servers disappear and rarely visit the table. We do have reservations for Brown Derby and Mama Melrose this time too.

Personally I've been to a lot of Disney restaurants and have very few examples of abysmal service. Some lukewarm service, yes, but not abysmal. I went to 'Ohana last December stating that I would never go there again if there were service issues like at previous visits, and had an awesome server, so it's not consistently good or consistently bad.
 
We went to MM last August, booked the F! package.
Apart from the long wait despite having an ADR we had a lovely meal.
The servers were good and the food was fantastic. :thumbsup2
 
We had the Fantasmic dinner package there last year and the entire family enjoyed their meal, even my parents who aren't easy to please.
Food and service were very good.
 
We went to MM last year on the F! package also. The food and the server was great! We didn't feel rushed and our server was very attentive. The food was hot and tasty. The only bad thing was that we had ADRs and still had to wait 20 -30 minutes for our table. We felt that it was worth the wait since the food was yummy!

Add my experience to this one, and the others like it. Dined at MMs the last time on the F. package during Free Dining in September. There was quite a wait to be seated (something we experienced quite a few times that week). But once seated we enjoyed the experience very much. Had one of the better meals of the week (the steak was fantastic), our server was not overly attentive, but was certainly prompt in bringing our orders and returned several times to see if we needed anything extra. I have no hesitation in returning on our next visit.
 
We ate a MM in June on a F! Package. The food was great. Our server, although not over the top friendly was very efficient, kept our drinks full and even replaced my little ones spaghetti with something else because she didn't like it. But, he certainly wasn't Mr. sunshine, but he also wasn't unpleasant. But I'd take him over some lousy server with a ONLY great personality.
