Professional Internships Spring 2013-Question!

Just to make sure, you can apply for the CP and some PIs at the same time, right? I'm graduating in December and want to apply for both for the spring.

For those who are applying to the Spring 2013 PI program, there is a Facebook page where you can talk with fellow applicants. Its a great place to meet people and have a support system for the craziness that lies ahead.

You can also find us through Disney Professional Internships-Spring 2013 on Facebook.

Can't wait to see you all there!

Im soooo glad I found this forum! I've been thinking of doing the CP for years, but I just recently starting seriously inquiring! I really need to do a PI to complete my college degree and so my fingers are crossed that I'll get in once I apply for the Spring 2014 PI! I know it's a long way off, but I'm starting to prepare from now :)

Have you done the CP? PIs are extremely difficult to get without being an alumni because preference will always be given to an alumni.

I think this truly depends on what PI you are trying for. If it is a non-alumni PI, then if you have excellent qualifications within the field you are trying for you will have the same advantage as anyone else.

This is definitely true. I originally thought the PIs were generally alumni of a CP, but I have met so many people here who have not ever done the CP, and in many fields as well- sales, marketing, engineering, programming. That you haven't done the CP won't necessarily disqualify you, it can only help in the sense that you can use it to network heavily as well as gain an understanding of the WDW products if you may need such a detailed understanding.

I just had my phone interview yesterday in PI Management Retail. I have never done the CP, but have years of experience! I applied for it on sunday, and had an email from them within 12 hours!....talk about being nervous!!!:scared1:

I would have been excited, but totally unprepared! I'm sure you did great! I'm so surprised that they called you that soon! You must really have a lot of retail management experience for them to be so eager! Good luck!

All of the positions you mentioned are specialized O&T positions and, yes, I will concede that Disney will take the best qualified candidate in those cases. However, my post was in response to the OP. I never met a Ops Management PI who was not previously involved with Disney in some capacity. Perhaps bad luck but just saying.

Just wondering. If you're offered a PI can you turn it down?
And how competitive are the Alumni Only PIs?

You can definitely turn the PI down. As for how competitive they are, it really really varies. Some which don't 'sound' as cool aren't selected by a lot of folks, but some of them like Guest Relations are really popular.

Hi everyone!:wave2:

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!

I am apply for the spring 2013 term. I have applied to 13 Marketing internships and 1 Management Internship - theme park management.

I interviewed last Thursday (9/13/2012) and I think it went really well. I am now in interview stage for 4 positions - two are my top choices: Destination Disney Digital Marketing Internship, Distribution Marketing Services - Social Media Internship, Disney Cruise Line Public Relations Internship, and Management Internship - Theme Park.

Now comes the long wait until the 21st, when the MI deadline passes and the second interviews begin.

I am personally torn - while I would love anything at Disney, I really want one of the digital/social media internships. It is wear my heart and my strengths are

I just applied today for three management ones! Retail, Food and Bev, and Park Operations! Very excited!

Hello all,

I recently applied to the Management Internships and was rejected for all but the Retail one, which I did the pre-screening interview for yesterday.

This morning I noticed that on Dashboard it now is listed as 'Interview Stage' instead of 'Pre-screening interview.' Does this mean I moved on or does this happen to everyone?

Thanks!

It means that you passed the screening and the department is considering you for the position. After your screening interview, you positions can go to Interview Stage or NLIC (No Longer In Consideration). From here you will be waiting to hear from Disney - which can be a long wait. Here is a great blog article explaining all of the steps for the Dashboard:

But from here, you will either go 'NLIC' or go post-interview

Perfect, thanks!

That's what I thought, I just wanted to get some confirmation that I wasn't assuming the wrong thing and getting my hopes up.

Thanks!
