Boma or Whispering Canyon

When we first made our ADRs we were staying at POFQ and booked dinner the day we arrive at Whispering Canyon at the WL. We have since changed our reservations to the AKL (we were able to get FD) and now I wonder if it makes more sense to try Boma. Thoughts? Travel wise Boma makes a lot more sense but (based on the restaurants/food alone and not travel) if you had to pick between the two which would you choose?
TIA!

Like them both, and I don't think you can go wrong with either.

But, if you're staying in AKL, I think it would be wrong to not go to Boma (they also have an excellent breakfast!)

I like both places, but as far as favorite food choices Boma wins hands down.

We were extremely underwhelmed with Whispering Canyon for lunch. We haven't tried Boma for dinner yet, but breakfast was excellent. I would go with Boma.

Boma for sure. I ate at WC twice and wasn't happy both times. DH loves the idea of bottomless milkshakes but I'm not a huge meat fan do maybe that's why. Boma has a wide variety and an unbelievable dessert bar.

I'll go the opposite way. Everyone in my party hated Boma, and LOVED Whispering Canyon. I'd stick with what you have.

Really it domes down to what sorts of food you like. We didn't dig on the "sweet meats" style of Boma. Although the Zebra Domes are fantastic. But since you are staying there anyway, you can get them Ala Carte without going to Boma.

Boma. I've never been to WC but I do have it scheduled in on my next trip. Boma is worth it for the soups alone. I'm not normally a "soup" person but they are AMAZING there and I'm planning to go there BEFORE my Cali Grill ADR (yes, in the same night)... it's just THAT good.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Whispering Canyon! It was the only repeat we did on our second trip and we have resies AGAIN on our third trip coming up! But we LOVE smoked meats, beans, corn on the cob...! We ate at Boma our 2nd trip and my adventureous, food-loving 12 year old and I both enjoyed it. DH and DD(8) not so much. They didn't leave hungry but picked at their food mostly. So it just all depends on what you like and how adventureous you are! We also LOVE the atmosphere at WC - the straws being thrown, the loud calls for KETCHUP!, etc... Our waitress last time was getting on to DD12 for using her cell phone at the table, then tried to find her a "date" from other tables. We still laugh about our times there!:rotfl2:

Our one and only experience with WC was bad.....horrible service and the food was decent but definitely not worth the hassle of the server (and it wasn't the hilarious antics everyone speaks of......she was plain MEAN).

We have ADRs for Boma this year, I'm hoping it turns out good. The menu looks a bit different.....we're usually meat and potato people, but we like to try everything at least once so we're going to stick with Boma :).

I don't really have any advice, but I know a lot of folks have told me that I should go to Boma because I'm vegan. We went to Jiko instead last year (not worth 2 DDP credits for me or my meat-eating partner) and this year we're trying out Whispering Canyon for the first time. I don't know if I've ever been over to the Wilderness Lodge, so it will be interesting. Plus, they have these quinoa cakes on the menu that have me intrigued.

We might still go to AKL at some point if we can squeeze it in, since it is just so, so, so pretty.

Thanks for all of the advice! I still don't know what we are going to do, but am leaning towards switching. It seems like more people are pro-Boma and factoring in the travel between AKL and WL plus having been up since 6 am (flight to Orlando), I am thinking that Boma is starting to win!
Thanks again! Very helpful!

We have eaten at both multiple times. Boma is more adventurous menu-wise and WC is more down home feel and menu. Our family all like boma, all but my wife enjoy WC. Staying at AKL would make me choose Boma though.

We ate at both this week. If you're looking for actual food quality, it's really no contest. Boma hands down. If you're looking for some fun, then WCC will give you that.

If any of your party is strictly Meat n Potatos, do not go to Boma. Made that mistake w/ DH. I LOVE Boma and eat there every trip as he no longer goes.

I thought they had meat though? It's just sweeter? Now I'm worried LOL

Boma! Hands down, no question... WC food is like bad Applebee's type food. We did not enjoy the antics either. Boma food is more interesting... Love the soups, salads, roasted meats, and desserts. Really recommend it.

We have never done Whispering Canyon, but I absolutely ADORE Boma. We had dinner there last spring and I cannot wait to go back. There is meat there...it's just prepared a little differently. We all tried so many different things, and while we liked some more than others, there was something for everyone. My super-picky son even asked for seconds of carrot-ginger soup...that is a small miracle. I am sure you would enjoy it! :)

Thanks for the comparison My family dislike Applebee's. I had WC on my must do list but it's officially off!!!!
