Thank you for this thread. My family and I are going to Disney next May and we plan to go to Kennedy Space Center for a day. I guess I better write my Senator in December to see if we will be lucky enough to get tickets!

Here is what I wrote. I think the real difference on getting the tickets is that your congressman's aid knows who to contract if they don't know about the program. Then if there are any tickets left for the date you would like to go. I sent my letter a couple weeks early and they called and said on August 1st I will ask for you and they did

I am writing you to ask a favor for our family. We will be going on a vacation to Florida in February. There is a program where our legislators can request free tickets to the Kennedy Space center for their constituents. I would really appreciate if you could try to get our family tickets. Since they only have a limited quantity available our best chance to get them is 6 months before our requested date.

We would be traveling February 8-Februay 18.1012. We would need 2 adult tickets and 2 more ticket for our kids. They would be ages 11 and 12 at the time we are traveling. If we need to pick a specific day to go our first choice would be Friday February 15th and our second choice would be Tuesday February 12th.

He is my congressman. He had a contact for tours of Washington DC on his website and I sent a email to that contact. Then mailed the same letter to his office. To be honest I'm not sure which worked. I did sent it a couple of weeks early incase I had to try a congressman from a different district or a senator but he came through.

Thank you so much for all the information about how to contact your congressman and request tickets (including the example letter). My congresswoman also has a tour and tickets section on her site. Everything is for "D.C.", however, I am going to utilize this and write in the notes my dates are for Florida/Kennedy Space Center at my 6 month mark.

We attempted to see shuttle launches a couple of times (and actually managed it once!). We kept talking to people who had launch tickets from their reps and got to be on Space Centre property on launch days. I was very jealous!

We are Canadian. Because of Canada's participation in various NASA projects, I wonder if anyone has ever gotten tickets via our MPs and the Canadian Space Agency. Not that anyone here could answer that, but it's an interesting question.
