I've heard of itinerary changes for maybe one port, but never the whole thing? We were headed to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Key West.

Now we're headed to CC, Disney for a day, and Key West. What would you do?:confused3

All headed out from Galveston.

wow- that's a big difference...

Not sure if that new plan interests me (compared to the old) Have you called- is there any recourse?

We literally JUST got the email. I talked to dh, and he's NOT impressed. I would love to see CC again, but it does just feel like we're 'swirling in the waters':rotfl: rather than really seeing anything. Wonder what most ppl would do?:confused3

We just spent a week in Disney this May, went to CC last October, and have only cruised the one time. So, now what to do?

How many nights is the cruise? Sounds like it should be a 7-night from the original itinerary. Not so sure that I would stay on that cruise to be honest with you. You have plenty of time to change it. The only thing would be the fact that other cruises around the date have gone up in price since the time you booked your cruise. Did DCL notify you of the change? Wonder what their reason/excuse for the switch is.

The only thing I see out of Galveston in April 2013 is April 6 and 20. Both are 6-night cruises that go to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

**Maybe it's sold out and doesn't show up. Is this an 8-night cruise?

The same thing happened to us! :( We can't change our date because it's winter break for my DD, and the new itinerary is not appealing to us at all. So sad.

Have they offered a reduction in price? You were not going to CC before so now you are missing one port -- and I don't know that DCL actually has to pay port fees to dock at CC, so might be two ports short as far as that expense goes. They should definitely be reducing the charge to you for port fees though. The western ports are not our favorites, but we wouldn't book a cruise that just went to CC and WDW [even throwing in Key West] for the cost of a week [or even 6 days] on DCL. That kind of defeats the purpose of cruising out of Galveston, IMO, because you just end up in PC with WDW anyway.

8 nighter. Yep, think I'll call them. That's what bothers me the most, is that prices have gone up. I booked this one first day. 4 days at sea, and then all around Florida and CC.
I wouldn't mind staying on the ship, just don't feel like this would be much of an adventure doing this one. What to do...:confused3

It looks like they are changing some of the 8 night cruises out of Galveston. I got the same email today.

I am booked on an 8-night out of Galveston on May 10th. Honestly it is a dummy cruise and there is no way I could take it due to school schedules. But it is now a Bahamas cruise and goes

Friday Galveston
Saturday Day at Sea
Sunday Day at Sea
Monday Disney's Castaway Cay
Tuesday Port Canaveral
Wednesday Day at Sea
Thursday Key West
Friday Day at Sea
Saturday Galveston

Honestly though I like that itenery better than the western one. I was always wondering why this wasn't an itenery on the Galveston cruises. Carnival does a 7 night "eastern" carribean that goes to Nassau, Freeport and Key West. I figured a trip from Galveston to Key West and CC would work nicely. I love that it doesn't stop at Nassau.

I imagine this new itinerary will include a one-day WDW park hopper for everyone - like the NY Bahamas cruises.

I just got this email this morning. this is in reference to the May 10, 2013 sailing

Thank you for selecting a Disney Cruise Line® vacation. We are thrilled that you will be joining us aboard the Disney Magic® for an 8-night sailing from Galveston.

To provide Guests in Galveston with a truly immersive Disney experience in 2013, we are modifying select 8-night sailings from a Western Caribbean itinerary to a Bahamian itinerary featuring calls at our private island, Disney's Castaway Cay, Key West and Port Canaveral, Florida, which includes a day at the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Your sailing is one of those being modified; therefore your sailing's revised itinerary will now be as follows:

Friday Galveston
Saturday Day at Sea
Sunday Day at Sea
Monday Disney's Castaway Cay
Tuesday Port Canaveral
Wednesday Day at Sea
Thursday Key West
Friday Day at Sea
Saturday Galveston

While we believe that every Disney cruise is magical, Guests onboard these sailings will now have the opportunity to experience even more of the magic with one-day Park Hopper® passes and transportation included to explore the Walt Disney World Resort during our day in Port Canaveral, Florida.

Should you have questions about your upcoming voyage or wish to make modifications to your reservation, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-939-2784. We are confident this revised itinerary will provide for an amazing vacation that only Disney can provide and look forward to welcoming you aboard soon.

I know a lot of people have been want to go to Castaway Cay from Galveston. I'm excited that it looks like that might be an option now. Unfortunately I can not go on this particular cruise even though I'm booked on it (I plan to move it to a 2014 cruise when they come out) but I hope to be able to do one from Galveston eventually.

The date is April 26. They haven't changed it on my ressie yet on the DCL site. Yes, it's an 8 nighter.

The hard thing is that my dh has to 'bid' for vacation times, and this date was it!

Thanks so much for this info! I will be calling them in a few minutes. And you are right. We could've driven to PC again, instead of Galveston. Just feel like it's 'swirling' in the ocean...:confused3 ...

DCL must have taken the cruises down while they are redoing the itineraries. It says that they are all sold out. The itinerary page still lists the 8-night Jan - May going to Cozumel, GC, CM & KW, with the ones after the first week in May not including GC. True that when the cruises first came out many were disappointed that they did not include CC. Perhaps this is DCL's answer to that? However, not good for those who did book the itinerary they released as a western and wanted to go to those ports.

I think the second Itinerary is great for many people. Since most people love CC and many people were bummed that the galveston cruises didn't go there.

THe disney day on the NYC cruises have proved sucessful.

To me, Costa Maya is a waste of time...nothing worth going there for. I do lik Cozumel. Grand cayman is okay based on what you want to do.

This is a great cruise for those who want a total disney expereince.

Plus, with the Disney Day, you could always get a cab and go to to cocoa beach for the day, or the space center and such.

We wish that it DID stop at Nassau, or at least somewhere different. And we could've gone to PC just as well as Galveston. For us, since we just got back from Disney, just visited CC, and had never seen Grand Cayman, Cozumel or Costa Maya, we were looking forward to the western side.
Oh well...still wonder why such a BIG change...
