Fantasy: Port or Starboard??

I know, this question seems random - but, if by chance upgrades are available when we get to the terminal, is a starboard cabin more advantageous than a portside cabin? As in, which way is Fantasy docked, bow first or stern first, at:

Castaway Cay
Costa Maya
Cozumel
Grand Cayman
(I know we tender at one of these)

and does starboard or port have a better view - especially at CC?

Given the choice at booking, we have preferred port. It is not a big deal to us, but we prefer to NOT stare at everyone on the beach at CC. Our cabin overlooks the beautiful sea with an occasional parasailer going by. Very relaxing.

In addition, the port side typically offers a slightly better view at Cozumel where you can see the commercial area instead of the more rundown area on the starboard side.

No big deal either way.

Thank you for your insight. We have been assigned a port cabin and I didn't want DD to be disappointed with the potential view when docked. I think we, like you, will be fine either way

We are the opposite! Prefer starboard for castaway

I am :confused3. If there is anything available upon embarkation, I will just leave it to DD to decide. She booked GTY and we have a Deck 7 portside verandah near the Aft stairs...her first cruise with a verandah!

Again, it is all just personal preference on what one wants. On our first DC, I asked the same question and decided that I must want starboard because it overlooks Castaway Cay. Several people mentioned how great that was. After that cruise, however, I concluded that perhaps I really did not want to have to look at the commotion of CC on our last day out. So, the next several cruises, we opted for port. Again, it just depends what you want. With our cabin, we have the calm beautiful waters of CC to look at with almost not a sound in the world. For us, it is a nice way to wrap up the cruise. When we were on starboard, there was just a sense of hustle and bustle that was not what we wanted on our last day. Again, many people love to soak in every little last fiber of Disney, so starboard does afford you that at CC. Perhaps you should consider switching to starboard if it is your first cruise or if you love looking at all that CC has to offer. I doubt you will be disappointed regardless. The view from our balcony certainly changes all the time, some better and some worse.

DWF,
Again, thank you for your wonderful explanation and insight. DH and I sailed to Alaska in an aft balcony and I deeply appreciated all of the views so I know either way will be fine with me. DD is very visual and images stay with her forever, so, now she knows about the CC views and what the choices entail if we were to have the opportunity to upgrade. It isn't that we want/need to upgrade; she is gifting me with this cruise so I thought if there were anything available within reason, I would cover the cost. It appears DCL was offering amazing FLR rates to attempt to fill this sailing.

We liked starboard for the fireworks - was nice to see them from our room.

Thanks! And, thanks to all the info from these boards, our Pirate Night plan is Palo and then viewing the fireworks from Currents, unless we upgrade to a starboard cabin.

How do you know side your room is on? We are in 10648 on the 9/22 sailing. Can you tell from the deck plan? What kind of view will we have in St Maarten, St Thomas, and CC?

DCL seems to have a policy that the ship will back in at Castaway Cay....like ever since the infamous cruise when the ship got "stuck" and couldn't get out of the dock due to weather issues. It is easier to pull straight out than to back out (my understanding, no expertise here). SO, if they can't back in, they won't stop at Castaway that day.

When backed in, the starboard side has the better view at CC.

As far as fireworks--we got a letter advising us to have nothing on our balcony and to NOT watch the fireworks from the balcony for safety reasons. Again, I don't really understand the difference between watching from a balcony and watching from the open top decks, but that was the request in the letter.

I don't think we will attempt to upgrade so will stay portside. Do you have any recommendations for fireworks viewing locations? Currents allows smoking and not sure about Meridian...

Can anyone tell me what side cabin # 7576 is on? I'd appreciate it:goodvibes
