November 17, 2012 TURKEY Cruise

Anyone have the schedule for the shows on the ship?? TIA!!

Thought everyone would like to see these Fantasy menus. We are, after all, proud to be known as "Feasting on the Fantasy" cruisers. The menus are located in this thread (thank you lbgraves for posting these maiden voyage menus, even if it that voyage was awhile ago). Do note that towards the end of the thread are the Kids Menus too!

So gobble them up everyone --sorry, I couldn't resist. We all need to start getting into turkey talk! :)

Finally have our group together so I wanted to get everyone on the roll call.
We are already on there and doing the FE
Ron (aliron)-Dad
Alison (aliron682)-Mom
Laurin-daughter-12 on the cruise

We were able to do a small family reunion on the cruise so the other cabins are:
Patricia
Bob
(Alison's aunt and uncle)

Brent
Carrie
Meredith (9), Cade (6) and Reid (3)
(Alison's cousin and his family)

Debbie
Paul
Denise
Allison (10)
(Debbie and Paul are Alison's cousins and are brother and sister Denise is Paul's wife and Alli is their daughter)

I'm going to check to see if the two cabins with kids want to do FE (or I'll just sign them up and get all the stuff).
It is our 6th cruise and the first for all of them, so I have become the planner....which is fine with me:-)
Looking forward to meeting you all and showing my family DCL for the first time.
:-)Alison

We booked a massage. Still thinking about shore excursions but we usually do things on our own (Magens Bay). But the main thing I did was the on-line check in and get an early arrival time.

Magens Bay is one of the best light snorkeling beaches I have ever been to. Highly recommend this for people with smaller children that just want to see some cool tropical fish swimming all around them in shallow water. :thumbsup2

Good Evening Everyone,

I have responded to all of the PM's regarding the FE list. If you did not get an email from me this evening then that means I do not have your information. Please send me your information before Aug. 30th that is the last day we will be adding to the list.

Beth and I are also working on a Dis Meet for the first sea day.
We are also going to be doing a scavengar hunt for while we are onboard.

Also, if anyone is looking for something to do in San Juan we will are also organizing a beach party and treasure hunt at one of the local beaches. If you are interested as we get the details we will let you know.

I can't wait for this cruise!! :) :)

If you are interested in getting landyards for the cruise please send me an email with how many landyards you want, along with your email address and mailing address. We need to have 100 landyards to place the order. They will cost $3.00 per landyard and then there will be shipping added to your order as well. If we have enough interest then we will order them.

I was able to get Palo Brunch, Palo Dinner, a massage and a cabana on serenity bay!!

We were going back and forth about the cabana. :coffee: It just didn't seem worth it for just the 2 of us. :sad1:

Did you book the massage for on the ship or Castaway ? I am thinking of booking a couples massage on Castaway.

Does anyone know which dock we will be at for St. Thomas and San Juan ? Thanks

From what I read on cruisecritic.com, DCL docks by Havensight in St. Thomas. But, someone said San Juan is a new port for DCL that hasn't been there yet, so they are not sure. If anyone knows something else, let us know.

We haven't booked anything in St. Thomas, we usually go to Magens Bay on our own. But, I am thinking about doing the Kon Tiki excursion this time. Has anyone been? It stops at Honeymoon Beach, I believe.

Not sure what we are doing in San Juan. We have been there before and did it on our own. We walked up to the fort and then back at the port there were a lot of places that had rum tastings. I am trying to find out if we can do the Bacardi Factory tour on our own. Anyone know how far it is from town and how to get there?

:boat:

ETA: Just found this info on another DIS thread about where we dock in PR - here is the quote:
"I just asked my TA. DCL will be docking at Paseo Gilberto Concepcion de Gracia in Old San Juan. For our Jan. 12th cruise, we'll be docking at Pier 1, not sure if it's the same pier for all other sailings, but it will be THAT port for all other sailings."

I called DCL today and was told sometimes for St. Thomas you have to be tendered in. She checked our schedule and we are docking at Havensight. :dance3::dance3: No tender needed.

For San Juan we will be docking at pier #4 Downtown old San Juan. :dance3:
That's what I needed to know. We are going to do San Juan on our own. I have heard seeing old San Juan was not to be missed.

We will be on the ship for Mickey Mouse's Birthday ! :). Wanted to share an easy idea for a door magnet. I bought a Thanksgiving vinyl cling and put it on white card stock then cut it out and put magnets on the back. I also used some stickers with the letters and spelled out Feasting on the Fantasy with our names. It turned out great !!!!

Not us....... We are doing a short snorkeling tour in the morning. We are doing paradise point and will find a place for lunch.

What are everyone's plans for San Juan ? Since we are docking downtown old San Juan we are just going to walk around on our own .

We are thinking about doing the Caribbean Sea Safari on Virgin Breeze in St. Thomas, but we can't book for a couple weeks yet. In San Juan, we definitely want to see Old San Juan, but really enjoy rum and have thought about doing the Barcardi tour.

I have read there may be other rum tours closer to Old San Juan? Any one have any insight into these tours? Are they worth it?
Thanks!

:coffee:

The virgin breeze was one of our choices. We decided last min. To go with something else. I will tell you it's still available to book. I don't know about any of the rum tours. We just like getting our rum cakes to bring home. When I was in Hawaii I bought a macadamia nut rum cake through a Hawaiian company and I am kicking myself I only bought one !!!! It was soooo good.

St. Thomas: Virgin Breeze looks nice. We really aren't into snorkling though. One of the places it stops is Honeymoon Beach and that is also where Kon Tiki goes.

San Juan: We've been to San Juan on another cruise and did a walking tour on our own. We will probably do that again.

Tina,

I just Googled Virgin Breeze after you mentioned it above. Like I said we are really not into snorkling so that is why we decided on Kon Tiki. But I found this review that makes Virgin Breeze sound great so I thought I would share: http://thepracticalplanner.blogspot.com/2012/04/port-adventures.html

It even has bathrooms on board but it does sound like it may be a little rough so that wouldn't be good for us. The review makes Honeymoon Beach sound really nice and that is also where Kon Tiki goes so we will probably stick with it for something different to do.

In th past, we always do Magens Bay on our own. I like going there... but lately, with all the huge ships in port, it is too crowded! Plus, last time I almost got into an argument on the way going there with the cab driver. Of course, it was one of the open-air van thingys, filled to capacity. The cab driver took our money (I handed it to him) and then he came around to us again insisting we hadn't paid! We went back and forth but I firmly told him no way, I wasn't paying again!

I found that same Virgin Breeze review which convinced me. I researched non-Disney excursions and found this one to be less costly for the price. We do not need it to be private or less crowded to have fun. Glad they have openings - hope it stays that way! Hubby doesn't have a steel stomach, but daughter hopes to swim with turtles and she wins. ;)

I hadn't thought about rum cakes. Yum! This is first cruise for DD and DH. I have only cruised to Bahamas, so we are in new territory on this one. Thanks for the great idea!
