Booking our first Disney cruise!!

We are booking our first Disney cruise (only our 2nd cruise ever) and while looking at the site I see that on the Dream deck 8 is slightly less than decks 9 and 10, not by much and I don't care about paying more, but what's the difference? Why do I want to be on the higher decks?

As you can tell I'm a cruising newbie so I need some help figuring this out!

As on most (if not all) cruise lines, the higher decks are perceived to be "more desirable". The cabins in a particular category are pretty much the same, no matter which deck you're on.

Deck 8 is a great deck, about halfway between the pool decks, the kids clubs, and the rest of the public areas. Plus it has staterooms above and below it so it's much quieter. No noise from public areas.

Dawn we just got off the Fantasy which was our 1st cruise and totally loved itWe even booked another before we left. One thing I can tell you is I do believe the Dream is set up the same as the Fantasy so unless you don't mind a lot of noise stay away from the 10th deck cabins, they are right under the pools and the soda fountains, and late night snack areas. Not to mention we thought grabbing acabin near an elevator would be good..WRONG. Try to stay about half way between them, less noise and traffic. Children like to run up and down the stairs all times of the night playing games and burning off energy, for those of us that have teens that are chilling in the clubs and are not used to wild behavior this can get annoying. But trust me you will have a GREAT time. The shows are FANTASTIC. See all of them that you can. Food is sensational, and if you have something you like and want another just ask, or if you can't decide between 2 dishes ask for both, they don't mind. I felt so spoiled, I so miss it already. Also if you get a chance try Palo, we did the brunch and loved it.

Oh, I don't doubt we will! We just got back from and RCI cruise (Oasis of the Seas) and I'm looking forward to this one SOOO much more!!

I was already thinking this was one reason to stay away from deck 10 so thanks for the confirmation!

Food is sensational, and if you have something you like and want another just ask, or if you can't decide between 2 dishes ask for both, they don't mind. I felt so spoiled, I so miss it already. Also if you get a chance try Palo, we did the brunch and loved it.

We were on the 8/5 Dream, booked a VGT guarantee cabin and got Deck 10, right under Flo's Cafe-- and can confirm that we heard lots of chairs being stacked/stomping/etc. starting at about 7am and again late at night. We had earplugs so it was OK, but if you turn in early or like to sleep late, definitely be wary of Deck 10. We'd definitely go with a lower deck next time (assuming we can choose) that isn't under public areas!

We had a deck 10 about halfway between mid/aft elevators. We booked about a week before sailing so didn't get much choice, but it was ok noise wise. Long walk from either end. There was a little noise from above but not as bad as upper deck on wonder/magic. Heard very little noise from the hallways. I prefer to be about 5 or so rooms from elevators though just for ease of access. I think next time I'll try to book closer to aft elevators because those were the only ones that weren't jammed packed constantly. But it's a PITA to walk through Cabanas to get onto 11. Not the best setup in my book.

What about the lower decks? Don't care about ocean view or verandah . If we are on deck 2 how much of a hassle is it getting on deck and to the shows? Long waits for elevators ? Long hikes on stairs? Never been on cruise but considering our first.

We actually prefer deck 2 and the only night the elevators are hard to get to go up is on Pirate Night. Definitely is easier to get off when at port from deck 2 though.
