Am I Cruising On a Ghost Ship

I am on this cruise too and I have been thinking the exact same thing... Still so much availability and still no guaranteed rates (except verandah)

At least I know there will be one other family :D

Make that two other families! I have had this very cruise booked for over a year now and I can't believe it's only three weeks away (it was 450 days when I booked it!!). I haven't checked any occupancy info though so this is good news! See y'all at the pool! I'll be the one smiling!:thumbsup2

I'm going to hotlink this thread, so I can refer to it next time I read the proverbial "how do a I get a good deal on DCL" thread and someone inevitably comes back saying "it's tough because DCL ships always sail full."

Even though I knew that was not true (our Med sailing last summer had vacancies and upgrades were available at the pier), it's nice to now have proof. ;)

I've been watching concierge availability like a hawk. Whenever you go in to start the booking process there's always 8 different staterooms in both 00V's and 00T's to choose from. The upgrade from 11b to 5b was also strategic in that it's less distance to cover for port upgrades. I'm thinking we might can make it to concierge for what we paid originally for the 11b. :faint: This past May on a 5-night Magic our family of 4 upgraded at the port from a standard verandah (forget the category) to a 1-bedroom for $1200. I'd love it if the hubby & I could do that again. I've got my magic number in my head. If we can upgrade for that much or less we'll do it. If not, I'm still absolutely thrilled with what we have. Still, wouldn't it be awesome to do for our anniversary celebration? And without the kids?!?! :cloud9:

i'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

Not sure where you are, but if you want the humidity to go along with the heat....we can swap places (only if where you live has less than 80% humidity)!!!:rotfl2:

i live just outside of tel aviv - so i can trade my heat/humidty for your heat/humidity :goodvibes
probably 6 of one, half a dozen of the other..

i live 10 minutes from the mediterranean ....make the trade any more attractive?

though i'm not interested in trading...i just want those florida resident discounts!!!! :goodvibes

I've had FLR rates twice & the ones for Sept on the Dream are crazy cheap! I so wish I could go!!! Looked at Sept 16 & Sept 30th but my voice of reason (DH) told me to pay on/off our Dec cruise on the Fantasy instead.....

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

My voice of reason told me the same thing!! I was looking at the 16th too. I hate voices of reason :furious:

Along these lines… Is there a place where non-Florida residents can find good last-minute deals like this? I have a lot of airline points and I can swing last minute trips sometimes. I thought it would be cool to surprise my wife by saying “hey want to go on a cruise next week?”.

can you tell me what is the occupancy %% for the Dream on Oct 25? i wonder if FLR will be applied to more cruises, like in October... WOW lucky you, great rates for Sept! i'd switch if i could =)

i'm sure the florida residents are going to get big bargains in october too.
i know our cruise is half empty...there are lots of rooms still available all over the ship, including more than half of concierge..

We are on the "Ghost Cruise" too! Count myself, daughter, and mom in! Three generation cruise. We are getting very excited and are hoping it's not crowded. Very happy to be going to Palo. We will also be by the pool smiling!:rolleyes1:);):);)

Can non-Floridians travel with Floridians and get this rate? Or does everyone have to have proof of Florida residence?

I think there has to be at least one Florida resident in the cabin and that person has to be one that books the cabin.

My MIL is a Florida resident and I'm pretty sure was able to book a DCL cruise using a Florida resident rate, even though she had two New Yorkers with her in the cabin.

ok i just talked with DCL about our Oct 25 cruise, she said its' 61% occupied, and if i'm reading cruisefish.net correctly, it reads 80%? not sure how the difference is calculated here, but do you think we'll see FLR Oct discounts too?
I sure hope so!!

One Adult Florida Resident has to be in each stateroom. Rest of the occupants do not have to be FL Residents.

And I must correct the price I originally posted. It is $345 pp, not $335, for the 3 night cruise. I keep getting $335 stuck in my head. But the 'rack rate' for the Cat 4D (not VGT, but where you can choose your stateroom) is currently $1000 pp if I remember correctly. So while Disney relies on us to fill their ships as much as possible last minute in the Fall and Spring (except Spring Breaks), they really do take good care of us.

I was just shocked that Main Dining, Palo, AND Remy are all available for any night 3-1/2 weeks out. I always wait for the last minute FLR rates, but I usually get wait listed and have to got to Dining Changes on the first day to try to get the Main Dining.

As I understand cruisefish (which might not be the correct way), if it shows 80%, then it's saying that 80% of the stateroom categories have at least one room available. It doesn't really have anything to do with capacity -- it's more about availability. Technically, if there were only 15 remaining rooms open on the entire ship, I think it could conceivably still show 80% if all the rooms were in different categories.

Wow I am soooo tempted right now... does anyone know if I can transfer my dummy cruise and combine with the FLR rates? That would be an even sweeter deal and an easier sell for the DH ;)

I'm not sure about combining the offers but we considered using a dummy we have floating out there for our Sept booking when we booked at rack rate (roughly $1100 or so). DH & my TA friend talked me down on it. Using it would've saved us maybe $100. If 2014 opens up before we could book another dummy we'd not have one to use for the (hopefully) opening day booking for Christmas 2014. Better to have the dummy & not need it than to need it & not have it. Right?
