Snorkel Equipment Rental - Serenity Bay?

I've tried searching but no luck so far ... first time at Castaway Cay without a child!

If we want to go snorkeling at Serenity Bay is there a rental place over there, or do we need to go to the family beach to rent gear first? Is it worth going snorkeling at Serenity Bay, or should we just stick to the snorkel lagoon at the family beach?

Going next week - getting very excited !!!!! Thank you for any info you can provide.

Yes you can rent snorkle gear, floats, and tubes at Serenity Bay. I don't snorkle so I don't know how the snorkling compares to the family beach.

When you snorkeled before, did you see many fish? I'm trying to decide if it's worth renting equipment for my kids.

We brought our own equipment, so for us it was "how much luggage space..." anyhoo. In Castaway Cay I saw some "cute fish" some bright colored fish, a conk (which is rad! The inside of a conk shell should be a blush color.). Here's some pictures:

My dad didn't take the waterproof camera snorkeling with him in Serenity Bay, but I did for the all age group snorkeling areas...

Snorkeling is rather poor IMHO ( I am a diver) I do bring my own and go out but would not pay the price to rent.

We are also bringing our own gear. You have to have a vest, but they will give it to you free. From what I have read (we are going on the Dream on the 19th so haven't been yet), the family beach is better for snorkeling, but there is some stuff to see at Serenity Bay and without the children. We are big snorkelers and the snorkeling overall is just okay from what I have read. That being said, it should be fun and something to do in the water!

How much is it to rent?

(I go snorkeling because to get certified where I live you need to go in the ocean. But I heard the ocean here is really dark and it freaks people out... I don't know if I could do that.)

It has been years since I rented on CC. When my daughter got certified a few years ago it was $350

While the family beach does have better snorkeling, we have found some neat things at serenity bay such as conch, tons of starfish, and even a small octopus. So i think it's worth it. Jmho.

I think maybe you are confusing scuba and snorkeling??

You need to be certified to go Scuba diving but that is not even an option at Castaway Cay...
You do not need to be certified to go snorkeling...that is offered at Castaway Cay...

HTH! :goodvibes
