"Passenger of Size" needs photo help!

I consider myself a "Passenger of Size" when flying, so I had a question/request for Disney Cruise Line. A few years ago I sailed on the Wonder but had a very small inside stateroom (smallest room size) due to cost issues. I am now in the planning stages for an Alaskan Cruise next year and have budgeted for a Deluxe Family Stateroom with Verandah (Category 4E). My worry is the bathroom. On my previous sailing the bathroom was barely functional as I was extremely cramped in the space. I see that the 4E room has a slightly different layout for the bathroom and seems to be a bit bigger due to the split bath. (and no, I do not qualify for an accessible room by DCL standards) My request is for some photos of the bathroom (both sides) to get a real idea of size and layout. I cant seem to find any online. Thanks in advance for those who post photos.

My husband is large. He hates the spilt bathrooms. We try to stay in a cat 11.


The toilet stall in the spilt bathrooms are quite small.

It does look like the category 4 split baths are a different layout than the rest of the ships split baths. Which category number was your stateroom when you had a split bath. So far I have only seen the drawing layouts of the rooms and it seems like every website has a slightly different drawing of each room.

From cat 11-5, all of the cabins on the "classic" ships are essentially the same size. An 11C has a single bath which is larger than one side of the split bath and has slightly less space in the entry way.

I have 2 suggestions--first, consider the 11C. Secondly, notify DCL that while you do not medically qualify for the HA cabin you would be VERY happy to move to one due to your bathroom issues. That way, if it is not sold to someone who requires it under DCL's criteria, they may offer it to you if there is one that doesn't sell.

There is no way to predict whether the HA cabins will be available or not. Sometimes they sell out (to the point that some people in wheelchairs can't sail on their chosen dates). On other occasions, they go vacant or are used for upgrades. We were once "upgraded" to an HA cabin--not an upgrade I'd normally choose, at least to the room we were assigned. We did get it changed after boarding and after we saw the room.

I am 6 feet 330 lbs. Not sure what you consider of size.

Splith baths are tight, especially sitting on the toilet.

Something I do is find public washrooms, the one beside Animators Palate has a nice wheelchair accessible toilet stall which is pretty much empty all day except supper time.

As for showers you can use the ones in the fitness center, they are spacious and free. Some of the spa treatments like the exotic rasul (for couples) have a large private shower, change room and steam room.

Not the best solution but works well for me.

We usually are in cat 9 cabins with the split baths. On our last cruise, we had cabin issues and were moved to a cat 4. Sorry, didn't take photos of the bathrooms. But then, I'm not sure photos are going to help much. Yes the bathroom in the cat 4 was larger than the cat 9 but more longer than wider (which is why the layout is different). But as far as how much extra space you feel in the shower or while you are sitting on the toilet or standing by the sink, the difference is a matter of inches, not by much that would show in photos.

I dont have any photos and I am indeed a passenger of size. I just returned from Alaska on the wonder and had a split bath. I was in cat 5 so idk how different it is but the toilet is in the corner of the bathroom with nothing around it. I was fine not problems at all. Shower was also fine any specifics you want to know you can PM me

On the Magic/Wonder the split baths are the same size for all cat. 4-10 staterooms. If you go the FAQ sticky at the top of the board and look under Stateroom and you will see a link to Virtual Stateroom tour you can click on that link and then find pics of actual cabins that people have posted. I'm sure you would be able to find pics of the split baths on that link.

It sounds as if a HAcc room at the rear or anywhere on the ship would be great for you, it has the full bathroom with the walk in shower or wet room style.

This and the door is wider and easier to walk in and out of.

Looking at the layout of the rooms, the toilet in a cat4 is on a straight wall whereas the cat5-10 is on an angled wall. I did finally find a single photo of the cat4 toilet room, but cannot tell how much space is between the wall and the toilet due to the door blocking the total view.

I found my pictures. These were in a 9B on the Magic. It's a little difficult to get the scale, but you can see what they look like.

If you are considering using the fitness center/spa showers, consider requesting a stateroom close to the forward elevators.
