Hi there,

In September, my husband and I are cruising on the Dream to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. As he is a HUGE fan of Mickey/ Disney and I like the idea of a trash the dress session, I would like to surprise him with a photo shoot at Castaway Cay.
Can you please tell me if I can pre-arrange this photo shoot at Shutters and if so: how and when to do so?
He's got the digital pre-booking information of Disney (with all the excursions etc) but if I ask him if pre-arranging a photo shoot is possible, it would not longer be a surprise for him. So I've searched on Google, but couldn't find the answer. All I could find were names of photographers who are willing to cruise with you and make pictures of your party during the cruise and at Castaway Cay.
Hope you can and will help me!

Best wishes and many thanks from Amsterdam,
Anne (and no, I'm not looking like :hippie: because I live in Amsterdam ;))

I don't know the answer, but if you can find a few minutes away from DF you could call Disney direct and ask. You may even be able to make arrangements this way.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

During our big family cruise this June our son proposed to his girlfriend onboard the Fantasy on formal night....on our Castaway Cay day he and his fiance had a private photo shoot on CC.

The proposal was obviously a surprise so they did not pre arrange it before the cruise. They spoke to the Shutter's manager the next day onboard and arranged for a photo shoot on our CC day. The photographer met them onboard in the morning and they left the ship together and took shots around CC.

So yes, this can be done. Just speak to the Shutter's manager as soon as you can in the beginning of the cruise (I am sure you can sneak away for a bit)...make sure to tell them to keep it a secret and not call the cabin to confirm (if you want to keep it a surprise until CC day).

They did not have Mickey/Minnie as that is quite expensive (to have the characters for a private session).

MJ, I'm truly a novice with the cruising so I'm not questioning your knowledge by any means. And your son's experience sounds absolutely dreamy. :goodvibes I caught that the OP wanted to do a trash-the-dress thing on CC which differs somewhat to having just a private shoot. Do you think because a wedding gown is involved maybe she should contact DFWs ahead of time just to be sure it doesn't fall under their realm? The reason I ask is because I know it's a huge no-no for non-DFW brides to wear wedding attire (gowns) in the parks unless it's arranged thru DFWs. I'm not sure if CC would be treated the same. :confused3 I'd hate for her to haul a bulky, heavy gown all the way onboard then find out at Shutters that she's not allowed to wear it on the island. Is there a contact maybe for Shutters that the OP can try to get an answer ahead of time for the trash-the-dress part? Maybe some of the ladies over on the Weddings section would know more or have some answers. :)

I will be on the Dream for my honeymoon so I was wondering about this as well. If you do the private photo shoot and are already buying the photo cd, would all those photos be included on the cd? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was the cost to book the private session?

I don't know the answer to that but I will ask my son.

Excellent point....I really have no idea...but I do know I have seen wedding dresses onboard before...if the weddings were through DFW or not I do not know.:confused3

They have wedding ceremonies on CC, so I don't see why it would be a problem to wear one for a photo shoot there.
