I am so excited we just booked our first cruise on the Disney Dream!! I was thrilled to see that we already have a room #!

Is there any chance of that room # changing? From what I can tell we have a good room # and I would like to keep it!

Were you booked with a GTY reservation to start? Generally, once a room is assigned, that's your room. That said, if your reservation was a GTY one, they can change your room at any time, if they need to.

Not sure what a GTY room is but I don't think so. We booked through a travel agent and she didn't say anything about that.

A GTY (guaranty) reservation means that you made the reservation and selected a category of room, but not a specific room. If you booked a specific room, it's not a GTY.

Yes, your room # can change. Disney does upgrade some rooms the week before the cruise before they assign GTY rooms to those that are waiting for their stateroom assignments. The good thing is that you can decline one of these upgrades.

I received a voicemail telling me that I had been upgraded from a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom to a Oceanview Stateroom with Veranda. I wanted to keep our originally booked room, so I just gave them a call letting them know that, and they gave us our room back and noted that we declined the upgrade.

It appears that many who are booked in these rooms that sleep up to 5 get offered an upgrade. At least on our cruise that appears to be the case. At least 2 others on our cruise meet thread were offered the same upgrade. Just remember you have the option of accepting or declining.

If you like your room, have your TA note "Do Not Upgrade" on your reservation. Their idea of an upgrade may not be your idea of an upgrade. And sometimes, by the time you know you've been upgraded, your original cabin has already been assigned to someone else, so getting "un-upgraded" might not be possible.
