Does anyone have vegetarian food pics from the fantasy? We are sailing in November and I want an idea of what is offered. I have read the menus but I want to see! Thanks! :)

The French Onion Soup is vegetarian??? We were told it wasn't...crud! I love French Onion Soup. So hope it is on the Dream in October!

To my knowledge the French onion soup is made with beef broth.

So many wonderful vegetarian choices! I sail next month, and I will post pictures when I get back.

This is the exact reason I suggested everyone ask about soups in particular. I wasn't certain on some of them. Sorry to misrepresent! But luckily there is more awesome food to be had!!

The other problem is that they seem to use Parmesan cheese which isn't vegetarian, so you would have to ask for it without this too.

Why is Parmesan cheese not vegetarian? Yes, it is not vegan, but unless they do something weird to it, Parmesan is vegetarian.

Do they serve the gazpacho on the Dream or Fantasy (it is on the Magic and Wonder)? That's an excellent veggie soup.

Most Parmesan cheeses are made with rennet, which is an animal product.
In fact, I would consider any item with ANY cheese suspect, until verified by the kitchen that the cheese is rennet free/vegetarian friendly.

Can't speak for the US but here in the UK most of our cheese are veggie but the 'authentic Italian' cheeses are virtually all Non-veggie. I do find that even some pro chef's do not actually think to check if the cheese they use in recipes are veggie - they just say oh, cheese, that's ok for veggie meals.

Thanks Topper. :)

If it is a true Parmesan cheese then it would not be veggie as they can only make that the traditional way using the rennet.
This is a direct quote from the vegetarian society...

We’d like veggies to have a nice cheesy smile on their face when eating out, watching cookery programmes or reading recipes – but there’s a problem: Often dishes and products claiming to be vegetarian use Parmesan.

Parmesan/Parmigiano-Reggiano is an EU Protected Designation of Origin product and has to be made using calf rennet, so it’s definitely not suitable for vegetarians.
Businesses, chefs, journalists and restaurant owners

Make sure your dishes are vegetarian:

leave out the Parmesan/Parmigiano-Reggiano
don’t call dishes using Parmesan/Parmigiano-Reggiano vegetarian
use a vegetarian alternative
label clearly, if you are using a vegetarian cheese be proud and say so.

HTH

Thank you for that info! Made me read further, and it was really interesting reading!

Luckily, there seems to be some great veggie options all around on the cruises (and in the parks). I am always amazed by the excellent variety Disney provides!
