For our next trip we're considering staying deluxe for the first time. Something that would be a must have for me is a balcony. I see that not all rooms at Poly have a balcony. So which deluxes do have balconies for all rooms?

If you reserve an animal view at AKL you'll get a balcony. In the other views you have to request to not be on the first floor, otherwise you'll get a patio. requests are not guarenteed....keep this in mind at other resorts that have patios on the first floor.

I believe the GF has balconies (or patios) for each room. (except maybe the turret rooms in the main building)

I thought that all the AKL rooms started on the 2nd floor. I don't think there are and "1st" floor rooms.

The Contemporary (and BLT) has balconies or patios.

There are rooms with patios (not balconies) over by the pool. I'm not sure if these are all considered "pool views" though.

I also thought some standard rooms that face the parking lot that don't have balconies, but could be wrong there.

I was just trying to say that resorts with patios on the first floor, so if a true balcony is what the OP wants, he'll need to request a higher floor room, which is a request and not guarrenteed. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

The garden wing rooms don't have balconies though, right? (I thought I read that on All Ears....) :confused3

I believe they do. Its been a really long time since I've stayed in a garden wing room there, but I checked the video here on WDWIG (a DIS sister site) and it does look like there are balconies. There's a pretty good view starting at about 1:30 of the video.

Actually, the garden wing has juliet/false balconies, you can open the door, but you can't step out. So not really a true balacony. I've stayed there.

There are definately first floor rooms in the Pool View category (which are considered Pool View rooms). The have patios.
All the other Pool View rooms have balconies.

So pool views don't have balconies? I think they do. And animal view??
