Rebooking Quickly

Looks like ABD is doing what DCL used to do (probably still do)... If you book your next adventure quickly enough after your last adventure, you get a 10% discount.

Don't know if everyone knows about it, but if you don't, it might be helpful if you are planning well in advance. We didn't know, but when the second set of papers came in the email reflecting the lower price... it was a pleasant surprise.

That's interesting! When I took my first ABD, I got a letter in my room telling me there was a 10% discount if I booked within 10 days, but at that point, the trips for the next year weren't out, and I wasn't booking another trip for 2008. But I hadn't heard anything about a discount like that since then. I wonder if they've done it all along, or just started up again?

Congrats on getting such a great deal!

I was just looking at recent navigators off the Western Caribbean Fantasy cruise and saw a blurb there about booking an ABD and getting 10% off as well, so it looks like you can do it whether you are rebooking from an ABD or a cruise.

Now I want to know if this applies to trips booked on DVC points.

Yes, there is a discount if you book another cruise within 3 days or a week (I dont remember the window period) after cruising. I've done it before but can't remember the percentage off. Not sure if it applies to ABD reservations using DVC points.

Yep, I've done that before as well and it is usually about a 10% decrease in DVC points on a rebooked cruise.

Hoping the ABD rebook after cruising is similar and will offer a 10% decrease in DVC points as well.

I was just surprised (and happy) to see any ABD discount offered to cruisers. We have two cruises planned next year and may have to plan on booking an ABD if they continue to offer that discount.

We were on the first family Greece ABD, and returned July 2. Loved it all and decided to book Egypt for Christmas 2013--and did it within a few days of our returning. On July 16, ABD announced a 10 percent discount for returning guests booking a trip within 10 days after returning from an ABD trip. We tried to get the 10 percent (met the requirements mostly--trip, book next trip within 10 days--) but no go as the deal was not announced until after we booked (and more than 10 days after our return). That's not a cheap trip so the 10 percent would have been great--but alas! However, we did book through Costco so we get a nice gift card from them, and ABD is providing airport transportation again (from San Diego to LAX is very nice indeed)...so, it was worth a shot. Our timing just didn't line up.

That is too bad!!! For a loyal customer, I think they should have given in. It's just too close! You should have cancelled then rebook! ;)

So they're doing the transportation thing again for 2013? Cool! Do you know if it's air travel only? I was toying with the idea of doing the train to Philly, then flying back from DC, but I'd have to go to Cincinnatti or Cleveland to catch the train. It would be wonderful if ABD would work out getting me to the train!

Yes they are! In fact, for our 2013 ABD, they even put there they will drive us all the way to Seattle! Now that's 200+ miles away and a 3-hour drive! I think we will be able to get a flight closer to home. Not sure about train stations but worth asking, I'm sure. :)

WeLoveABD, where is the information on this offer? Was it for a limited time? This is something I've always thought ABD should do (in fact I think I've suggested it on this board). I'm planning to book the Peru trip for next March. If the offer is available then, I'd be very likely to take advantage of it, but I'm not sure how that would work, since the 2014 rates/dates wouldn't be released that early. There are other companies that do that, and they just give you the option of cancelling if the dates don't work for you.

I was happy, too, to hear that this was back in play--but I don't know if there is transport other than to and from airports (although I don't see why not!). I talked to the driver on our transport from LAX to San Diego and he said he works for a company used frequently by Disney studios/management (often picking up entertainment industry types for premires etc). I bet they would take you--especially you Sayhello!--anywhere you needed to go, so long as within the mileage limit!

The first we heard of it was right here on the disboards! We called them directly after that--not sure if it appears in the ABD site. Our glitch was not knowing about the deal before booking, and then hearing about it after we booked--but after the 10 days had run after our Greek trip. In the past we did receive cards at the end of the trip regarding early booking discounts etc--but at the end of the Greece trip we did not get anything re this particular deal. (Also--my DW informs me that the discount is actually 5 percent, per our discussion with the ABD rep--so different than the typical DCL on-board deals). I am now promoting a "Buy 6, get 7th Trip Free" deal--who will sign my petition??:rotfl2:

I'm in favor of this, but I'd prefer it to be "Buy 5, get 6th trip free!" ;)

I'm going to say with the price of an ABD and airfare, they ought to go with Buy 3, get a 4th free. With only one under my belt, I'd like to think I could get a free one sooner. Wishful thinking, I suppose! I'd even take a 50% off deal.

Hmmm...it's not a very good marketing tool if they don't tell people about, since most people wouldn't know to ask. :confused3 I've never gotten anything about discounts after our ABDs. If it's on the website, I couldn't find it. I've already got 3, so I'm voting for buy 3 get the 4th free. :)

Actually, I think we were told the limit was "within 2 hours"--cutting it close for us if we fly out of LA. But--tufbuf has over 200 miles and a 3 hour drive, so maybe they don't have hard and fast rules about this...(or maybe you can cover 200 miles in two hours out there in the middle of Washington State!)

It's not quite 150 miles to Cleveland (2.5 hours). I guess I need to give ABD a call & see what's allowed... Thanks!

The weird thing is, the confirmation documents they sent me had the dates and time of pick up to and from the airport, to and from Seattle. They even have the cost of transfer next to these dates (over $300!) and a note that it's a credit based on the Insiders program. I don't know how or where they based their info since we were dropped off and picked up from our local airport. Plus, we can't book flights that far out yet. I'm sure they will be happy to know we will be flying from and to our local airport, 10 miles away. :wave2:
