GCH and DLH for 5?

We did PPH for 5 and I know they have the 2 queens and the fold down couch..

How is the set up for GCH and DLH for a fam of 5?

GCH has bunk bed rooms - king (or is it queen?), bunk beds + trundle. So if you are two adults and three children, that would work great. Adults wouldn't fit in the bunk bed unless they are very small adults.

The only drawback is that you are not guaranteed a bedding configuration. We have requested it twice and gotten it twice, but it's not guaranteed.

ETA: I think there is also a 2 queen + daybed room, but have not stayed in one so not sure how it would be for a family of 5.

We always travel with 5. Have had 2 Queens and a daybed at each DLH and GCH.

Thanks!! this is good to know!
We know when we want to go so I plan to set up the vacation as soon as I can and get my requests in :)

The 2 queen and daybed is the rarest configuration at the GCH, only 39 out of over 1000 rooms. All have standard views and are located above the main entrance to the hotel.

This configuration is more common at DLH and PPH :thumbsup2

For the best odds in getting the bed configuration you want - when you make your reservation, make your room request with WDTC or whoever is booking for you. Then call the hotel directly (GCH is 714-300-7210, press the option for people checking in that day) and make sure your requests are in - they don't always transfer over for whatever reason. On your arrival day, call the pre-registration line at like 7 a.m. (if GCH, same # as above - I don't know the # for DLH) and reconfirm your room request. This has worked for us even when traveling during the busy summer season.

Good luck and enjoy! :)

We currently have a room at the DLH, but I have been considering the GCH. When I go to the website and show 5 people, it gives me an option for Woods/Courtyard View; Partial Deluxe DTD View; Premium Deluxe DTD View; Theme Park View; Resort/Pool View or Concierge Standard or Concierge Theme Park.

If the standard view is the only one with 2 queen/daybed; what are the configurations for all of the premium view rooms such as Theme Park View? The rooms look smaller and I don't see where the 5th bed is. With two teens and a tween, I'm curious.

TIA.

In the 2Q/Daybed configuration, you put two in each queen and one in the daybed. In the bunk bed configuration, you put two in the queen, one on each bunk and one on the trundle (pulls out from under lower bunk).

We have stayed in both a standard room and a resort/pool view room with bunkbeds, but not sure what other view categories have them. If you call the GCH directly they can probably tell you. I trust their info more than WDTC. :)

Thanks. That solidifies our decision to stay at DLH. Our teens are quite big (6'3 and 5'11) and if the "trundle" is anything like POR, we will pass on having our 10 year old sleep on that. If I'm paying that much for a room, I want the kids to have a real bed.

On the GCH Superthread it is told that if you have a 5 person party and don't get a trundle bed or bunk bed room, you're given a sleeping bag. Not joking.

The GCH daybed has hard wooden "arms" which limit the height for comfortable sleeping. 5'11 would be uncomfortable, 6'3 would be impossible.

thank you! my kids would love the trundle and bunks BUT I'd freak if we got a sleeping bag.. I'll probably save the money and go with DLH or PPH this time.. Shame GCA is gorgeous... I bet even more so at xmas..
