I really need to start making dinner... but I can't tear myself away! Especially if there's talk of MNSSHP!
(Thanks re: the name, Marie. ) I'm far from an expert since last year was our first, but we loved it so much we decided we'd go back this year essentially just so we can go to another MNSSHP. (We'd not planned on returning this year at all.)
We went during September last year. It was during either the second or third week of parties. I bought the tickets a few days before from concierge (BC-CL) since we had the option of going on a Tuesday or a Friday. We opted for the Friday, though I hear they're always busier on Fridays and Weekends.
We rested the whole day before the party, with only a swim in the morning. I required a mandatory nap from my then-4 year old -- which had the side-benefit of allowing mommy and daddy to nap too. This was pretty crucial to us having such a nice time at the party, I think.
Headed over to the party for the "early entry" at 4pm and just went "with the flow" -- over in Tomorrowland, we danced with Stitch, got some candy here and there, rode BTMRR, danced with Woody and Bullseye, watched the first "Boo to You" parade (flippin' BRILLIANT!), got some eats, went on It's a Small World, watched the amazing fireworks, went back and danced with Bulleye and Woody again, more candy -- and capped off a terrific, whine-free evening with a Midnight ride on The Haunted Mansion. The crowds got thinner as the evening wore on. It was packed, but not obnoxiously so... and less than a normal day at MK, I'd say. The whole evening was just absolutely fun and fantastic. Very memorable.
The parade is not to be missed. The fireworks were wonderful. The atmosphere is so different and fun. The characters are all so into it. It's so funny, but talking about how much of a blast it was and how much of a good time we had was exactly what convinced the hubs and I to go back this year... all for this party.
If we changed anything from how we did it last year, we'd have had a bigger meal before heading to MK. Also, if we get to go again this year (all appendages crossed) we'll also make sure we hit the Villians dance party at the castle. I missed out on seeing Captain Hook.
Not sure if any of this helps, but I love yappin' about it.
Miss Out and about (one of the cutest dis names, btw ) Glad you are going to hit up MNSSHP too! it is my first party, and it sure sounds like fun...I've been to a Pirate and Princess party when those where still around (Jan 2008) the kids / teens really liked the low lines and found it one of our best nights of the trip.....so I am hoping everyone loves MNSSHP! it sounds like much more fun, and better loot too! (PP was only beads and gold coins ) can't beat real candy
Amanda, chimo, missoutandabout and anyone else with MNSSHP experience, please share any and all MNSSHP tips - we have our tickets for October 8 and we'll be MNSSHP first-timers!
