I really need to start making dinner... but I can't tear myself away! :lmao: Especially if there's talk of MNSSHP!

Miss Out and about
(one of the cutest dis names, btw :) ) Glad you are going to hit up MNSSHP too! it is my first party, and it sure sounds like fun...I've been to a Pirate and Princess party when those where still around (Jan 2008) the kids / teens really liked the low lines and found it one of our best nights of the trip.....so I am hoping everyone loves MNSSHP! it sounds like much more fun, and better loot too! (PP was only beads and gold coins ;) ) can't beat real candy :)

Amanda, chimo, missoutandabout and anyone else with MNSSHP experience, please share any and all MNSSHP tips - we have our tickets for October 8 and we'll be MNSSHP first-timers!

(Thanks re: the name, Marie. :)) I'm far from an expert since last year was our first, but we loved it so much we decided we'd go back this year essentially just so we can go to another MNSSHP. (We'd not planned on returning this year at all.)

We went during September last year. It was during either the second or third week of parties. I bought the tickets a few days before from concierge (BC-CL) since we had the option of going on a Tuesday or a Friday. We opted for the Friday, though I hear they're always busier on Fridays and Weekends.

We rested the whole day before the party, with only a swim in the morning. I required a mandatory nap from my then-4 year old -- which had the side-benefit of allowing mommy and daddy to nap too. :lmao: This was pretty crucial to us having such a nice time at the party, I think.

Headed over to the party for the "early entry" at 4pm and just went "with the flow" -- over in Tomorrowland, we danced with Stitch, got some candy here and there, rode BTMRR, danced with Woody and Bullseye, watched the first "Boo to You" parade (flippin' BRILLIANT!), got some eats, went on It's a Small World, watched the amazing fireworks, went back and danced with Bulleye and Woody again, more candy -- and capped off a terrific, whine-free evening with a Midnight ride on The Haunted Mansion. The crowds got thinner as the evening wore on. It was packed, but not obnoxiously so... and less than a normal day at MK, I'd say. The whole evening was just absolutely fun and fantastic. Very memorable.

The parade is not to be missed. The fireworks were wonderful. The atmosphere is so different and fun. The characters are all so into it. :woohoo: It's so funny, but talking about how much of a blast it was and how much of a good time we had was exactly what convinced the hubs and I to go back this year... all for this party. :rolleyes1

If we changed anything from how we did it last year, we'd have had a bigger meal before heading to MK. Also, if we get to go again this year (all appendages crossed) we'll also make sure we hit the Villians dance party at the castle. I missed out on seeing Captain Hook.

Not sure if any of this helps, but I love yappin' about it. :rotfl:

Need to talk to our RC Queen aka Pas before I update the list on page one. Since I didn't type in the post, I can't edit it  So, the new list in going to be on page 5 below until Jeanette and I figure this out.

Dani, hope everyone is feeling better...and hope your boss is beginning to feel a little punky  :rotfl: By the way, I had no idea who Backson was, googled him, he has been added to the Winnie the Pooh cartoons since my kids were little!

missoutandabout, good job on the shirt with your daughter. I raised two girls (and survived) and I can only say it is going to get worse before it gets better! My advice is to go with your gut, but never let them embarrass themselves :cutie:

pixarmom, you will love the MNSSHP! We have been 4 times, and it is so much fun! The parade is NOT to be missed, it is great! I love missoutandabout's advice, eat a meal before you go. The kids are going to eat the candy (and some adults too :rotfl:), you stand a better chance of getting something healthy in them before you go!!!

Nothing like being late to the party: Now I'm going back to read....it must be good if there are almost 6 pages!!! Y'all are killing me!!

Geez I made one comment on the Poly thread that Tikiman isn't always correct and now I'm being accused of being harsh and picking on him. Sometimes I wonde why I even post anywhere but here.

Vicki_c got mad at me because I used an exclamation mark. I was like, "That's not true!" and explained my experience and she said that I shouldn't get all up in arms about what someone had said. It's not like I used a hundred exclamation marks. I used one. Apparently that means I was being mean and freaking out. I hate it when people make those kinds of assumptions. It's just a punctuation. :sad2:

I definitely prefer to just post here. I hardly post anywhere else.

People on these boards really are ridiculous sometimes. I was just pointing out that his info isn't correct 100% of the time. What news source is? I guess I'm not allowed to point things out, and you can't use exclamation marks. :rotfl:

They are ridiculous sometimes. It is very frustrating. At least here I know I am not being judged. If we do such things anywhere else we will probably get banned. :lmao:

New thread....YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1::rotfl2::cool1::cool1::rotfl2::cool1:

(New Thread Breakdancin')

I started preparing for next school year.... (BOOOOOOOO)

I am determined not to be as stressed as I was last year. When I finish the first Marking period planning, I am determined (with encouragement from my DH) to FINALLY write a TR starting with a PTR. I love to write but have been stressed the last few school years. Need prayers and pixie dust that I can get my planning done int he next two weeks.... I need August to be totally vacation. We will be returning the Saturday before I have to start school so I want all of the planning to be finished by then. I plan to go in the beginning of August to set up my classroom.

You all have to pinky-swear that you will follow my PTR and my TR. One of my biggest nightmares is writing a TR that no one reads... :scared1:

That happened to me once. It is one of the reasons why I started this thread and always want it to be a nice, easy going, place where there is no intimidation or bullying, just genuine Disney spirit and honest answers. A place to share planning and day-to-day life experiences.

I'm sending you a RC hug  Don't stop posting on other threads. You have great ideas and helpful hints that others will appreciate. :flower3:

Question for you Mommy-Pros:

(I've let my membership lapse :lmao:): Have you ever had one of your kids say they were worried about being made fun of for something they were wearing? How'd you handle it? Kiddo (5) came to me last night and said she wasn't sure about wearing her Chewbacca shirt because it wasn't "girly" and she doesn't "want to be laughed at." I asked her if she liked the shirt and she replied yes. I explained that if she liked the shirt, she shouldn't worry about what other people think and as long as she liked it and wanted to wear it, that's all that matters. :confused3 Easier said than done, and all that, right? Oh boy. I didn't know how else to handle it, really. I want to make sure she's not afraid to "march to the beat of her own drum." This is at 5 years old, what am I in store for?!
good answer! Sometimes it's a fine line between wanting them to express themselves and truly not wanting them to be embarrassed. But it's always good for them to learn to be comfortable in their own skin (or in this case a chewy shirt!)

Another "yay!" for the perfect split! So excited for you!

JC, sending a  - glad you're OK!! Thanks for adding me. :)

Dani, hope the kids are feeling better!

KOOK, great change! :)
Woohoo! Me too I think. I wasn't going to book MNSSHP unless we old get into pirates league but i think we should go anyway

I'll read it! Make sure you post a link here! Now go back to your planning so you can write it! ;-)

Oh dear, I am so late. Jeanette, thanks for putting the list up for me! I am fine, but had a bit of an accident today. I have neuropathy in my feet from all the chemo. I have been known to stumble, but I always catch myself, until this afternoon. I did a face plant on the sidewalk outside of the hair salon where I get my hair cut. Long story short, I am sooo lucky, have a scraped and banged up chin, cuts on my palm and sore wrist. Went right over to my oncolgists office and had the nurses look at me (one of the few benefits of cancer, you can always be seen right away!), they cleaned me up and made sure I was okay. Just sore and scraped up. I look like I was in a fight ;)

So excited about the new thread. Please, please let me know about any changes. So far there are some close calls, my vote is for KOOK to change first, who is with me?!

Sarah so glad you were not hurt seriously when you fell

Dani & Hannah I hate how people will jump all up in someones face, I know I find myself second thinking what I am about to post lots of times.

pas, you made me blush. (and lol)

I dutifully accept with great pride the prize bestowed upon me and will attempt to uphold the principles and values said prize represents. If ever I cannot perform my duties, I shall pass along the duties and responsibilities of bronze to jennyjinx3.

HEY! HOLD ON HERE! That ribbon looks just like one I once posted:scratchin, but, I don't mind.

I think that was a great change:thumbsup2. May I asked what prompted you to change to the nautical nonsense next door?

:rotfl2: Love your acceptance speech.

I have to admit, the change was prompted by a better discount.;) We prefer the BC room decor, but love the lobbies and CMs on both sides.:goodvibes We split our stay and added 3 nights at GF, too.:thumbsup2

Oh, Sarah!! OUCH!! I want to send a hug, but it might hurt. :sad2: I am so very grateful the injuries were not worse...perhaps this would be a good time for a new passport photo? Think of the memories in years to come!! :thumbsup2 Hey, at least you've a nice fresh haircut! :goodvibes Very gentle hugs, dear friend.

And, while we're on the topic (JC will LOVE this one), why do I still want to stay in a FW Cabin so much? Oh, and why can't Poly/CL get better reviews?! I still love the idea of a lagoon view CL room there, but those reviews are still pretty awful.

Wait until the new refurb - that's when I'll be back at my beloved Polynesian! ::yes::

I think we might have been changing at the same time:rolleyes1. I changed our 4 nights at Kidani to YC/CL. Hellooooo, JC, we have some changes for you when you're feeling better.

We'll be at YC/CL from 8/18-22 so we'll have to meet in the middle.

Very nice cha cha change! :goodvibes

OHHH KOOK, we are back this FW silliness again?! Give up 2 bathroom Kidiani for a cabin in the woods where you have to prime the pump and cook your meals over a campfire?!!:rotfl2:

:rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl:What JC said, KOOK!! :rotfl:

Geez I made one comment on the Poly thread that Tikiman isn't always correct and now I'm being accused of being harsh and picking on him. Sometimes I wonder why I even post anywhere but here.

...and the thing is, Steve knows he is not perfect, but does the best he can...which is excellent...so why the heck some people get all worked up about such nonsense, I will just never understand! . Did you know he was banned from the DIS for a while? Not knowing, I posted his name and link, but when it was all xxxx, I told the person how to find it...would you believe, I got some sort of DIS demerits or whatever it's called...it was private and temporary....years ago! Sheesh!!

Hey, my friends, sorry for all the posts I missed...tried to multi-quote, but it had to be one of those days when poof...there it went into who knows where. :confused3

Good to see everyone over here! Pas - LOVE the new title! :)

Tomorrow is TGIF and I cannot wait!!:cool1:

p.s. Sarah, thank you for an updated Trip list! :teeth:

We have a busy brand new thread today! We’re already on page 6!

Kook –Congrats on Yacht Club CL decision! :thumbsup2 Excellent choice if I do say so myself! Inquiring minds want to know if this plan is written in ink or pencil???

Basketlacey, Hope you’re able to work out PL. It looks like loads of fun! :cool1:
Missoutandabout-Loved your HGTV inspired writeup. :rotfl:

Missoutandabout and Jungle cruiser, It's so nice we can share ideas here! JC, What you said about going with your gut, but don’t let them embarrass themselves I think is spot on.
In some ways, I've found it kind of reassuring to know that they are always a work in progress. Just when I think I've got it reasonably well figured out, they are still growing, changing…even into young adulthood.

Stepdisney-I hearby pinky swear I will happily read your trip reports.:cool1:

Always good to chat with all the sweet RCers. :wave2: You guys are the best!
:grouphug:

For those who want to throw in the towel on other threads - please don't let a few incidents keep you from enjoying the boards. I know, easy to say when you aren't "in it" and I have had plenty of episodes of hurt feelings or...well, let's just say it, anger!;)...from a scolding here or there for what seems to me so little. Overall, though, most of the posters are kind and eager to help, even those who are sometimes a little touchy.:grouphug: Try not to take it to heart.

For what it's worth, you are all welcome over on the GF FAQ.:goodvibes

I'm sorry I missed this earlier, I plead guilty to skimming. So sorry for your fall and, probably, scare.:hug: Glad you are mostly OK. I feel for you, I fell in the middle of Chicago while visiting my oldest son last month - so embarrassing and he and DD seemed so worried, but I was OK. Like you, a little worse for wear. Take good care of yourself, my friend.:wizard:

Thanks for the heads up, Jeanette! :goodvibes

Hi, everybody! Sorry I haven't posted much lately! I do try to catch up as much as possible when I can. I have been very consumed with planning our trip for Sept/Oct. I think I finally have everything the way I want it. So, hopefully, I'll have more posting time!

I think there is a MNSSHP on the 28th.....we are doing the one on the Sunday Sept 30th....only because in my mind I am trying to rationalize less crowds :) I'm thinking it's a Sunday, and maybe the locals will have their kiddos at home to be rested for school Monday Morning! I think a Friday party might be crazier crowd-wise..... so the 30th it was for us! Hope you get to the party, it would be a blast for your kiddos...... I even think Amandaw might be hitting up the 30th party too, we where talking about meeting up for QS at CHH in MK before the party starts getting into fullswing....I haven't heard from her for awhile, so I'll have to check and see if the plan is still the same :)

Hey! We will indeed be at the party on Sept 30th! I've already printed out party tickets! :cool1: We will be dressing up.....I will be Wendy Darling, my DH will be Mr. Smee & our son is going as Cpt. Hook. I'm soooo excited for this party!!! We are spending the day at the resort. And will head to MK at some point after 4pm.

Amanda, chimo, missoutandabout and anyone else with MNSSHP experience, please share any and all MNSSHP tips - we have our tickets for October 8 and we'll be MNSSHP first-timers!

We're barely missing y'all! We leave on Sunday, Oct. 7th to head home. Are y'all dressing up?

Wow! I get home from work and we are on page 7? You guys are amazing! I just wanted to say a few things before giving DH some special attention...

Miss: I go through the same thing with the clothes. If it is really something I feel strongly that they shouldn't wear to school, I will tell them "that is a home shirt, not a school shirt". Know it sounds simple. But for some reason it seems to work over here. :confused3. I think we remember our own school time embarrassments and don't want our DD's to suffer through them.:worried:

Dani: Don't stop posting on the Poly thread! I need you over there! We can have our own secret code if you want!:lmao:

Have a good nite ladies...you all are the best!:goodvibes
