August 31st 2013 - 7 night Mediterranean cruise aboard the Disney Magic

Ah would you up for being the FE organiser? :worship: Ladyshopper (Jody) offered to help the FE organiser so it wouldn't be a lonely job!

That would be scary but fun! Ok, but I hope Ladyshopper knows something about Googledocs. :-D

Ok, I like to plan early. I'm having a rough time figuring how to get to Rome from the port cheaply. I've been to Rome 7 times (5 times as a tour guide) so I know how to get the most in the shortest amount of time, and therefore do not plan on paying for a tour. Anyone been to Roma via the port before?

If you have not booked your holiday yet, consider using Small World Vacation, Inc. Their prices are identical to what you get online with DCL, but they give you a $150 on board credit!! I hope that didn't sound like a sales pitch, but it just was a help to us.

Well, we have booked, but they have my daughter down as Stephanie instead of Bethany lol. I think she may have mis-heard us. Awaiting email to check they've changed it lol.

And we, too, don't know when to tell the children. I'm not sure my DH can wait much longer!

It must be because ya'll got funny accents. :-D

On our first cruise, the originally had Dak as a girl, but all was good before we boarded.

I have been to Rome a bunch of times and have conducted private tours for a school group and adults. Would anyone be interested in me doing a FREE tour of Roma? It would be a highlight tour and I promise to have you on board before the boat leaves and tired enough that you will sleep soundly in the night, curse me in the morning, but be glad that you saved almost $300 a person.

We might be interested.... Will the Sistine Chapel be included? I figure St Peter's won't be because we will be there on a Wednesday.

We can do the Sistine Chapel, but that means we will have to purchase tickets to the Vatican Museum. St Peter's shouldn't be a problem, even with the papal audience on Wednesday. We would have to make the Vatican Museum the first thing on our itinerary and do it early, because the key to this tour would be to maximize sights and minimize wait times.

That is such a lovely thing to offer :thumbsup2

I doubt we will get off the ship that day (i know, i know) as we did a tour last year and saw everything we wanted to. We will enjoy having an empty magic to ourselves :beach:

I would be very interested, can you give a bit more detail? Sounds great!

The thinking would be this
Leave the boat ASAP
Take train to Vatican
See St Peter's, Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museum
Walk to the Bridge of Angels
Colosseum
Forum
Pantheon
Crypt of the Capucians

This would be a highlight tour and somethings might be left out depending on time.

Sounds heavenly! Is the Trevi fountain on the way?, just for the photo? I hear DCL photographers are there, too
