ADR after parks are closed?

How do ADRs work after a park is closed? For example, MK is open until 7 but we have ADRs for 7:15. Do we just have to go to the restaurant and wait there?

Can you tell I'm new at this?

Hello :wave2: I'll wave since I couldn't find the welcome smilie.

Now to the matter of your question :)

We have not been at MK for an after park closing reservation but we have done this at the Animal Kingdom, had a reservation about 10 minutes before the park closed. We did as you proposed, go to the restaurant to check in and were seated shortly. Once we were finished, it was rather cool to get to walk out of the park with nobody around. ANother time we had dinner in EPCOT at Rose & Crown, after Illuminations, we ponied up to the pub bar to have "one for the road" and ended up staying a little longer than we realized. Had nothing what so ever to do with that English beer :lmao: Walked out of EPCOT rather empty, yet still Cast Members were around to "direct" us out and evidently a bus had been disbatched as it was waiting on us and many others that may have been dining past park closing.

If relying on WDW transporation, never fear, they will get you back to your home resort :thumbsup2

You do not say when you are visiting, but if MK is closing early for a party, (Halloween or Christmas) I'm afraid I can't say for sure how this may or may not change anything other than if you did not buy a ticket for the party, they will most likely be insisting you leave immediately after your meal. No passing go, no stopping in the shops, no hanging around to watch a special parade or anything else going on for the special event party since guests pay extra for these events.

If MK closed early for an extra magic hours nights for resort guests, if you are a resort guest you can stay to ride attractions (showing your resort room key to verify you are eligible) or you can meandor out, stopping in shops along the way.

In all cases, you will be able to get a ride back to your WDW resort. ENJOY!

They do close the international gateway entry do if you are at Epcot, late, and plan to walk back to your resort, do watch the time. We had a late ADR at teppan edo chatting away and almost got locked out of our walk home to the yc. You've never seen 8 people pay and move so fast!

:scared1: Egads, that would've been awful if you would've had to ride a bus to YC. Glad it worked out :upsidedow

How late were you? We typically have a late dinner, then walk back to our resort and there have always been CMs and security personnel by the turnstiles.

MK closing at 7....sounds like a Halloween or Christmas party night. If that's the case you can't keep your reservation unless you have a party ticket.

Quoting for emphasis. If MK is closing at 7, it is most likely a party night. You have to have tickets for the party to eat anywhere from 7PM and on. If you do not have tickets, you will not be seated and you will be asked to leave the park (or escorted).

as jsut gonna say that! If you can make it for 6:50ish, then you can keep it:)

Based on another thread it looks like OP is going right after Thanksgiving so that'd be the Christmas party.

OP, if you aren't getting party tickets you will have to find an earlier ADR. I know you are having a hard time finding them, but just keep checking. We found ADRs for large parties just a few weeks before our trip.

Thank you everyone. We are not buying extra tickets so I bagged the ADR. I have managed to find other ADR so I think we are good.

I wanted to confirm that there will be bus transportation for those with late ADRs. We have an 8:15 p.m. ADR at Hollywood Studios on a night that the park closes at 8:00 p.m. On the WDW website, they say that buses only run 1 hour past park closing, so I'm concerned. However, this thread suggests otherwise. The only other option is a much earlier dinner (4:25 p.m.).

Thanks!
