Rebels are back in 2012

Whats up everyone?
I added a couple races to my schedule. Ill be doing a warrior dash on august 25th and I also signed up for the air force half marathon on september 15th.

I took a week off from my normal workouts because I started getting shin splints for the first time. Ive gained about 10 lbs. over the past couple months (I think from the lifting) and think that along with new shoes might be causing it. So I decided to get some shoe inserts and change my lifting days to boxing and bodyweight exercise day (pushups, pullups, etc.).

Thats it for now. Just thought id give a quick update (and bump our thread back to the first page.)

I did warrior dash last year. Great time, but I think I will pass this year. Lol. Doing the survivor mud run, the color run and the gladiator rock n run this summer. Training for Disneyland half right now.

I have also gained weight but not in a good way. :rotfl: so I'm punishing myself by signing up for the Mickey in jan. first ever for me.

I just wrote a whole long message, but then it didn't post and now I don't remember what I said!

Either way, I signed up for the Disneyworld Half. It will be my first race out there. Hope it is fun!

I got back into running and walking. I took March off becuase I just was in a bad mood all month. Really, I don't know why to took it off, but I have some extra pounds as a reminder that I did. I think I did about 20 miles all last month. I am at 46 for this month so far. Much better. I didn't make my goal in March but I didn't let it stop me in April. Big step for me.

Hope you are all doing great!

Those warrior dash races scare me. I am too prone to injury and don't want to risk my other races on it, lol.

I am working on increasing my running to 4 days a week. I started by splitting one of my midweek runs in half. So this week I am doing 2-4-2 and then I have a 10K this Saturday. Next week I will do 3-4-2 and then I have a half marathon. We shall see how it goes.

Sorry I was gone so long. Work has been heck. I got the race calendar updated, but I need to add the links still. I have my first full since the 0s Saturday. I should have some sitting around time afterwards.

Steve and Katie Ambitious race schedules.
Cherie Glad to have you onboard for Marathon Weekend.

Good luck with your full Mike!

Believe it or not this race schedul is light compared to last year. I am taking the summer off from racing so I have a chance to get adjusted to living and running in FL. My big return race will be the Tower of Terror 10 Miler in September.

Good luck on the marathon, mike! :cheer2:

And now that I have the full lined up, the warrior dash scares me too. :rotfl:

I DID IT

4:47 which is a 10:57 pace. I was doing good until the sun came out around mile 20. It was 75 by the time I finished.

Thanks for all the good wishes!!

Mike

Good luck Katie with the Iron Girl half. Looks like fun, you get a bracelet. I'm trying to convince DW to run a womens half, so she is not stuck running with the overweight men.

I added links for all the races.

:cool1: Nicely done Mike! Wow that is warm for this time of year for a marathon.

I really enjoy the atmosphere at women's races. I am not sure I would recommend the one I did this weekend though. 10 port-a-potties at the start line of an all women's half that has over 2000 runners? Bad planning! Also they only had them at the half way point on the course. It was a very hilly course as well. I think the bracelet was a inaugural thing and they probably won't carry it forward. The medal was pretty cool though as it was one of those stained glass type. Hoping with Ironman backing them they will learn some lessons from this year and do a better job next year.

I have done other races I would recommend in a heart beat though. Princess of course! That one is my favorite. The Women's Running Magazine half in St Pete is awesome as well.

Whats up rebels,

Just checking in since its been awhile. I'm officially insane now. I signed up for the goofy challenge. Luckily, ever since i signed up for goofy my runs have been going amazingly well. I would set out to run a certain distance and when I would hit that distance I would feel so good I would tack on another mile or two. I dont know whats causing this, but I like it. Other than that, everything is pretty much the same. Still lifting and boxing. My current non-running project is trying to obtain all the permits to build a deck off the back of my house. I hope everything is going to well with everyones training

Steve

Hi Rebels!!

Posting to get us back on the first page.

Also letting you all know that I officially registered for 2012 Wine and Dine and 2013 Marathon today. I'll save Goofy for another year.

Mike

Congrats on your registrations Mike!

I finished up my race season this past weekend with a PR in the 10K distance. It is wierd because MD doesn't really have a season. We race year round. I am not in FL yet, but make my drive on June 20th. I know the next few weekends are going to be crazy and wanted to make sure I wasn't overbooked. I am going to spend my summer adjusting to running in FL and building a strong base with some speedwork to get myself ready for marathon training.

Hey Rebels,

Next weekend is the first race of my season. I had a run today that just felt terrible. It felt like I had nothing in the tanks, but it was the first bad run in awhile so I guess I was due. Outside of running, I joined a gym so that has been a nice change of pace from the old bowflex.

Katie: Congrats on the PR and have a safe move to FL.

Steve: Sounds like you got your bad run out of the way so your race will go great! Good luck and have fun!

Whats up everyone,

I finished the Canton Half last weekend and just thought id update everyone. I didnt get an official time yet, but im pretty sure it was around 2:54. The race had some nasty hills and I had some minor issues with my ITB, but i think it went well overall. I plan on starting my training again this week.

Hopefully everyones summer is going great.

Hey Rebels!!!

Ok, I've been gone a while... I admit! But I haven't been slacking on my training! I completed Insanity at the end of the year... and I've lost 25 pounds.. Went from 156 to 131 and feeling GREAT!

I signed up for my FIRST full marathon... the WDW Marathon! I'm beyond excited, but also nervous! I have a half marathon this weekend... but haven't really been training for it. I need to get my butt in gear :o)

Welcome Back Suzann. Lot's of Rebels will be at Marathon Weekend next year. You have plenty of time to train for it, but I can't say the same for the half next weekend.

Steve good job on the half

AFM I did a 10k today. 3rd year in a row that I have done this one.

Mike
