This is the absolute worst internet I have ever experienced. It cuts in an out the entire time you are trying to work on the internet.

Is this new because I certainly don't remember these issue on prior trips? This is the absolute worst.

That's just embarrassing.

Have others had this issue lately?

I had trouble at BWV and at AKV. At OKW I had a very slow connection but it did not cut out. Overall I give Disney wifi a grade of F. I am glad that I have an iPad for which I can buy 4G and avoid the frustration. Oh for the good old days when I could just hook up a travel router and be good to go.

My girlfriend spoke with the Manager today and we were told everyone should complain to the desk on visits. Today's manager said they had issues and he was taking notes. So, complain complain complain...

BAD...BAD...BAD internet connection during our last trip. The WIFI is so overused by all the other electronic devices that can use free WIFI that it is too busy for the rest of us that need a steady connection to work from our laptop. I miss the wired connection, too. I could wire in my Airport Express and have my own reliable, safe WIFI. Disney's wireless is worse than ANYthing I have ever experienced. I'm considering a smart phone purchase with the hotspot option on it for the weeks I will be at Disney so I can work. What a pain! :sad2:

I think respectfully complaining is the only thing that will bring about a change.

We need to talk to the manager AND follow that up with a written letter or email to Member Satisfaction. I think the written complaints are the most important.

I wish they had left the wired as an option, too.

Originally there was the wired system in the rooms which was not that good but it was adequate. They have now joined the 21st century and put wireless in. However, having now been subjected to it twice at BWV six months apart, my conclusion is that the Disney "suits" who chose to cut costs when putting in this system should not just be fired, they should be summarily executed. It is the worst I have experienced at any decent hotel in the country and even at many lousy hotels. I complained six months ago to hotel personnel and then to Disney afterwards and did so again during and after this last trip but apparently Disney really does not care whether people have decent service. To make matters completely unbearable, they removed the wired service. It is like Disney took Swiss Family Treehouse, which is about as low level of an attraction you can have and decided to replace it with Chernobyl.

Totally agree. I think as members we have to let DVC know that while we appreciate the free wireless it is no improvement over what we had with wired and is much worse in fact.

The last time I was at VGC (May 2011), they had both wired & wireless. I had to use the wired because the wireless had barely 1 bar.

Sounds like a lot of poor quality access points were installed onto an inadequate system. If Disney contracted it out, they should file a lawsuit.

It's been reported that the reason why the wired connections were removed was because they came from a different vendor than the WiFi vendor.

Folks, if good connectivity is important to you (e.g. for work), you should ALWAYS travel with a backup source of connectivity---a cellular device that you can tether to. Hotel wifi is pretty awful as often as not, and not just at Disney but just about anywhere.

Though I will say that the wifi at Universal's Royal Pacific was pretty darn good!

My girlfriend that travels for business and did complain said the same thing but she said what we are experiencing with the new wireless is the worst she has ever experienced. She usually has a backup source but had just received a new computer from work and for some reason it wasn't available this week (not sure the reason but she said usually she was able to use a back up but not this week).

I don't travel for work and have never had an issue this bad with the school work I was trying to complete this week (I've done school work the past 3 yrs without issue).

We just checked out of BWV and had no problems with wireless. We are at AKV now and is terrible in the room, but fine elsewhere.

We brought our own router with us. Can anyone tell us how we would go about setting it up? It worked for our iPhones, iPads and laptop when we did a test at home, but can not get anything to work here. We are at BCV for tonight but move to BWV in the morning.

Thanks!!!

The wired port into which you need to plug the router has been disabled. You are stuck with Disney's wireless. Some rooms seem to have a better wireless connection than others, so hope you get a good one. If you bought an iPad that can use cell data, that might be faster than the laptop on wifi. I bought a month's worth of data for my iPad when I was at AKV in May because the wireless connection was so bad.

I brought my router in late April to BWV. It would not work because the wired connection was disconnected. The router transmitted a signal but no connection.

Rather than start yet another thread about the wifi at BWV I decided to reply to this one from 4 months ago. We were recently at BWV and the wifi was terrible. It was unusable except after 11pm. During the day the speed would fluctuate -- sometimes as high as 2.9 Mbps down but only briefly, then it would drop to 0.20 Mbps.

We called Tech Support nearly every day. On the third call they said they had identified equipment problems and had opened a ticket. They said there were so many tickets ahead of ours it would be at least two days before someone came to BWV to try to fix the problem. There was some evidence someone was working on it two days after that conversation but for the remainder of our stay it never got any better. Tech Support suggested we go to the lobby because the wifi there is provided by a different vendor and might be better but when DH needed to send something to someone at work, he went to the lobby and found the wifi was no better there.

I just filled out my electronic guest survey. There were a lot of questions regarding the wifi service so I gave them my feedback. I will also be sending my complaints to wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com and dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com
