The Guarantee / GTY stateroom anticipation/discussion thread!

Are there people out there who book gty and then just go with the flow ? Like, who don't stalk their reservation multiple times of day, or who don't constantly look to see what rooms are still avail ... cause this is driving me crazy :)

Stalking can be fun ;)

We have 2 staterooms for our 8\5 NYC cruise. One is a named stateroom and the other is an 11B GTY. I keep checking in the hope not of an upgrade but of a cabin close to our named one. It won't matter if not, the second cabin is for my (adult) cousin but it would be nice to be close by.

Well we got our GTY assignment and our second cabin is same deck just on the other side of the ship. My cousin booked 11Band got 11B but it is a sideways one not too far from ours. I am pleased as we have a sideways 11B on deck 5 for our cruise next summer so we can check it out on this trip.

I check like twice a day- AM and PM but I do not look at the reservation and what cabins are still available- that would drive me batty!

I look twice a day because we are within 45 days and that seems to be when some folks get their rooms.

But hey- that's just me!

:rotfl: well I thought that would be me, because I honestly will be perfectly happy with the category I booked! But I feel like I just want to know, and my excitement is making me slightly crazy :lmao:

I'm happy with my cat as well, but its fun to see what they have in store for us :) i could never afford a balconey room, so its fun waiting to see if i could get one for "free" :)

I feel the same way- fine with what we have- but I also want to just know where we are going to be...

We have cruised other lines (DH and I) but this is our first DCL and with kids- so I figure we'll learn for next time- no matter what this time may be.

And honestly- we booked so late- I was just happy to have even the guarantee offered in our room preference.

I booked 6A GTY I got my assignment about 2 weeks ago for our Sept 8 Cruise on the Fantasy.. I got a 6A

We are going on the August 19th 5 Night Bahamian on the Dream and have an IGT Stateroom, we are 48 days out right now, so maybe we will get an assignment soon, they are not even selling GTY cabins at the moment anymore, so I am kind of glad I hopped on it when I did! Will let everyone know when I get my assignment!:goodvibes

August 5th sailing on the dream and still no room numbers. We have two VGT's and they could be just about anywhere on the ship

My TA had us select our stateroom location and there is a stateroom number already assigned on the reservation. Can we still be upgraded? We didn't request to not be moved.

Well, I didn't have to wait long folks! I got my cabin assignment today for our 12/1 sailing. I have a 11A guarantee and got 11A cabin #8001. I'm not thrilled about this room assignment. I was hoping for something ANYWHERE but forward but I'm glad that there will be rooms below and above our cabin. The only inside cabin we could actually choose when I booked was in front of the Teen Club and that was out of the question.

I hope the rest of you don't have to wait long as well.

We are 12/1 on the Fantasy as well, we are still waiting though for our room to be assigned we are a Cat 7a GTY. We are somewhat in different about the Cat 7a becaue we gave up a great Cat 8d room on our Nov cruise for and this was all we could get. We just wanted the extra space and the port hole window to sit in. If we stay in this Cat we are ok with it.

It's odd that you got your assignment so soon, maybe you didn't get upgraded because there are none of those Cat 9-6 rooms left on that sailing. Maybe there is still hope or maybe you can call them and see if they can place you in another 11A not in the front. We had deck 2 midship on the dream and it was heaven.

we are 8/12 NYC to Canada- Magic and we received our 9C room on friday am, and we were GTY 9c- so no bump up- but very excited to know where we will be!

Thanks for posting....of course now the "Monday" theory goes up in smoke.

Ahhh you had to wait until just more then a month out?... I will never survive

We are on the NYC 2-night leaving on July 13 and, at 10 days out, I still don't have a room assignment. We are in a 9C GTY. I hope we hear soon. If we are upgraded to a balcony, my DH might consider going, but I have a feeling we won't and we are so close, there may not be room in our muster station anyway. Oh well - DS4 and I will have fun no matter where we are!

Us too-- waiting on a VGT for 8/5 Dream as well!

Hard not to keep checking... but I also read on another thread that even after a cabin number appears, it can change again before sailing-- anyone else heard of that happening?
