Then we finally made our way to the doors to exit the building. These are on either side of you in the exit/entrance way:

I LOVE THEM.

We walked outside over to the Contemporary building:

I just love that wreath!

Finally, we made it to Contempo Cafe!

dsc00932nx.jpg

That had a beautiful dessert case here. Yum, yum, yum!

Candy Cane Cupcakes!

Spiced Apple and Red Velvet Cupcakes!

I really wish I would have gotten that worms and dirt dessert. I need to remember that next time.

Jonathan and I made our selections and checked out. The Cast Member at the cash register was so nice and very chatty. He ran after this guy who left his "Love Pink" bag behind. (I'm assuming that was his wife's hahaha) The CM said that Contempo Cafe was a great place to people watch! I could totally see that. He was such a cheery Cast Member - he's definitely working at the right place!

Time to eat our lunches!

I posted on twitter:
CHICKEN SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE FLAT BREAD?!?!? Yes please!!! Merry Christmas to me! :-)

I don't think you people even know how much I love artichoke/spinach dip. Then to have it on a flatbread with chicken!? IN DISNEY!? Yeah, my life was pretty much made. It tasted AWESOME! I ate all but two little pieces of it.

dsc0091fa.jpg

Jonathan got a Pepperoni Flatbread. He said that it had too much cheese. However, it looked like it would have tasted delicious. He's picky, if you couldn't tell.

dsc0090xw.jpg

I LOVE THESE CHAIRS! Yes, I was still photographing everything in sight LOL.

dsc0089sj.jpg

We got Mom the Vegetable and Bulgur Salad with Yogurt Pesto. We brought it back to the pool for her. She said it was excellent!

dsc0092sa.jpg

We walked through the gift shop on our way back and found KEN AND BARBIE! Why is Disney perfect!?

dsc00942m.jpg

We walked to the pool and delivered Mom her salad. Then we decided that we wanted to keep looking around!

dsc00952h.jpg

We went over to the Contemporary AGAIN because we wanted to go check out their pool. Unfortunately, we never ended up swimming in it. But I guess there's always next time!

dsc00982rh.jpg

We had to take some obligatory pictures with this Mickey statue!

SORCERER MICKEY TOPIARY!

dsc01042m.jpg

I wanna be like Mickey.

dsc01052ds.jpg

Clearly, the Contemporary is the place to be on Christmas Day. LOOK AT THOSE CROWDS.

Disney Scene it is Awwwwwsoooooooome! Our family loves it. Have you tried Disney Cranuim? That is our new obsession... I mean favorite. :thumbsup2 Until they come up with Disney Ping Pong or Disney Tennis, etc...why bother? :confused3 :lmao:

I LOVE the Mickey ears pin. That is awesome.

I am in love with Bay Lake Tower. It’s just so perfect and amazing and…I NEED TO STAY THERE.

Disney fountains are the best. We were just in New York City last weekend and I saw a fountain in Rockefeller Plaza and I of course compared it to Disney. Nothing beats Disney.

THOSE CASTLE PICTURES. I wish they sold them.

The chicken spinach and artichoke flat bread looks delicioso! *drools*

Those Mickey chairs are perfect.

Where is that Mickey statue at the Contemporary? I see tons of pictures of it on TRs but I have no clue where it is!

Great update Jess! I have been to Disney over New Year's 5 times, so I know how insane the crowds are!!! Being a teacher, I don't have much choice. I am curious to see what the crowds are like when we go in August. Leaving August 5th, so we will see. :) Can't wait to read more of your trip report! It will be fun to see how you spent New Year's Eve. That was are most insane day/night in a park, EVER! :)
Molly :)

I agree! No, I haven't tried that! It sounds like a lot of fun! And LOL I agree!

Thanks!
Yeah, I think everyone needs to try at least once in their life!
Aww haha I would do the same thing!
I do too!
It was SO good.
I agree!
It's on your way to the pool!

Thank you very much! WOW that's really lucky! New Years Eve was probably one of my favorite nights in Disney OF ALL TIME. It was insane but it was ridiculously magical. I have never been there at the beginning of August... but I'm sure they won't be as bad as Christmas! Thank you! I'm glad you're here! I'm very excited to write about that night... we've got a little ways to go but we're gettin' there. Thanks for reading!

Chapter 66: A Contemporary Christmas Lunch!
December 25th, 2011

LOOK, A MENORAH! Happy Hanukkah!

dsc0077dc.jpg

Aaaah!!! I NEED that bowl with the flowers in it! I am obsessed with the Contemporary and all of it's decor! I was lucky enough to stay there last year (for free) when I went with my god-daughter and her mom, to keep her while her mom worked (at Disney for a conference, what a hardship!) I am now spoiled and want to stay there/live there forever!

(PS, I also follow you on twitter and instagram... creeper much?:cool2:)

2 things:
First, I had to laugh at your Disney Scene It comment. Some of my sorority sisters and I used to play it in college, but it was always me versus like 5 of them. And I would win. One of my sisters and I made ourselves a challenge during our Junior and Senior year to watch every animated Disney movie ever made. We spent a lot of time at the local library where you could borrow the VHS tapes for free!!

Second, the worms in dirt dessert is disappointing. I had it and it was really dry. The gummy worms were the only saving feature! I had the red velvet cupcake though and it was delicious. Go for that.

So, I'm like super behind, (that's what a Disney trip can do to you!) but I'm all caught up now!! Beautiful pictures!!! Those crowds at MK are insane! Good idea about exploring the resorts, and relaxing by the pool. The Christmas decorations are so beautiful! I wish I could go during the Christmas season!!!!! I can't wait to see more pictures!

Great updates! As usual!:goodvibes

First, thank you again for taking so many pictures of the GF! I absolutely love that place and can't wait to stay there! Oh come on DVC and open up the villas!

Sorry the gingerbread was yucky. I'll be sure to get the Cinderella Oreo pop when we go in December and let you know how it is! :thumbsup2

That is sooooo awesome y'all got to have a relaxing Christmas at Disney! You've definitely inspired me to plan a long trip like that in the future!

All the artwork you've taken pictures of are incredible! I really want to buy some fancy castle print when I go! They're only like $20, right?

Can't wait to read more!!

those candy cane cupcakes look so yummy!!!

Jess, you take beautiful pictures. Do you have a standard point-and-shoot or is it a digital SLR? I seriously can't wait to visit at Christmas some day. That view you woke up to on Christmas morning is breathtaking. I'm a huge fan of sunrise views pretty much anywhere in Disney, before the crowds come and people it up, but I got teary seeing just the photo...I can only imagine how overwhelming it was to see in person.

Are the crowds that crazy all week, or just right around Christmas?

I love those hidden Mickeys everywhere! I need to start putting hidden Mickeys randomly throughout my house.

Christmas day by the pool? YES PLEASE. That sounds perfect! :cloud9:

I seriously just sat here and stared at that candy cake cupcake for about ten minutes. I WANT ONE.

Beautiful pictures, as always! I love them all!

Jess, you take more pictures than anyone else on the planet. But as you and Kristen would say... no one's mad. I love getting to see every detail.

YUM that flatbread looks delicious. And Jonathan said there was TOO MUCH cheese? Does not compute. I could be drowning in a pool of cheese and still not feel that there was too much cheese. But that is me.

The elevator doors are so cool! It wasn't until the end of the trip that my DH and I realized the AKL elevator doors had giraffes on them. Um, we were apparently that oblivious every time we took the elevator (or we were that into our conversation ... or that tired, haha).

Wow, that wreath is huge! I've seen it in pictures before, but on the scale of your particular picture, I just realized how large it is! I wonder where they store that thing in the non-Christmas months, haha.

Love the trip report! Very cool pics in the GF. I was in Disney for Christmas and couldn't believe how crazy it was, very good idea to take in the resorts instead of battle crowds.

I love, love, love all of your photos of BLT. There are really so many little things that can get missed/overlooked in the hustle/bustle of being at WDW! You do a great job of capturing them and reminding me of what a great resort it truly is.

Christmas day by the pool...I love it! Oh, the flatbreads look ahhhmazing. :thumbsup2

Chances are you will be seeing very similar versions of ALL these pictures (minus the Christmas decorations) in a little over a month. JKALJKFLJFKLDAJ KLA CANNOT WAIT.

What a perfect Christmas!!!! The pool looks just... amazing. Did you go down the slide??? My brother is REALLY excited about the slide.

Jonathan said the pizza had TOO MUCH cheese?! I think that's literally impossible.

Such an awesome way to spend Christmas day!! Now I *really* wanna go down over Christmas, I also now want to stay at the Comtemporary. I dunno, just never been a huge fan of it when I've been passing through, but I like to stay at different resorts each time, and I do love me some monorail resorts! Haha
