2 bedroom vs. Royal suite

Besides some square footage, is there really a difference? They are both 2 bedrooms, correct?

Edit to add that I am referring to the classic ships.

Yes, both 2 bdrm. One's more $, one has a wider balcony, one is more forward, one has bunks from ceiling, one you can order Palo and almost ask for anything. Doesn't one have a piano?

I believe the 2 bedrooms are more forward. The royal has the pull downs, so the 2 bedroom has 2 queens and what about the other 3 the room holds?

Good question. DCL site says it has a convertible sofa. Assuming it is a double at least there is two more, but what about the last guest? Maybe the veranda? I used to know this a while ago before focusing on the Fantasy.

To answer someone else there is not a piano in the room. But on the newer ships (which I assume the OP is talking about) there is a private hot tub and a very large verandah that has lots and lots of seats.

There is a pull down double bed and a pull down single bed.

My thought is it worth the extra money it would cost to be in the Royal suite vs. 2 staterooms? Are you going to be in your room long enough to take advantage of it? Only you (OP) can answer this one

on the classic ships, the royal suite holds 7 people..
on the dream/fantasy, the royal suite holds 5 people...

we stayed in the royal suite on the wonder - worth every penny and then some...
vs the 2 bedroom? the royal is perfectly midship, the 2 br is forward..
the royal is exactly that: royal..
and the service you will get from everyone on board is royal...
somehow they seem to know that you're in that suite....

there's a lot to be said for the royal suite on the dream/fantasy....
a super amazing verandah with a hot tub! i could live in that hot tub..
a full size fridge in the room and a super fancy coffee maker...

plus the concierge lounge and sun deck that are only for the use of the concierge guests.....a really nice thing in my opinion...

and to answer your question, yes, i think they would let you have 3 adults, 2 kids and an infant......but the only way to know for sure is to ask them..

i would much much rather travel concierge than non-concierge...

so if your question is the royal suite vs two regular non-concierge rooms, then it would be a no brainer for me....royal suite for sure..

however, if you're asking about two concierge family suites, it would be a bit more difficult for me to choose....but i think i might still go with the royal suite...assuming that other adult is a relative (like a grandmother or a nanny)...

On the classic ships, I do not think there is any significant difference whatsoever between the two bedrooms versus Royal suites. We stayed in the Roy on the Wonder and took a peek into the two bedroom on the last morning. Truly a minimal difference (mostly just style issues). On the new ships, there is a quantum leap from the one bedroom to the Royal. We stayed in the Walt last year on the Dream and, again, checked out a one bedroom on the last morning. A huge difference in size and interior amenities. Do not get me wrong, I would be fine in a one bedroom on the new ships, however, the Royals do offer more of an "over the top" experience. I did do a review of the Walt on the Dream on this website (can use the search function with something like "Walt Disney suite dream" to find it). Certainly there is a point of diminishing benefits for the costs involved in the Royal on the new ships, however, the two bedrooms as well as Royals on the classic ships are priced much more competitively.

We were told no...five occupants is the limit.
